  • One the best modifications to better protect our Jeeps out on the trail is taking off that stock plastic factory bumper and replacing it with something that is way more durable. When I was looking for a bumper for my wrangler I discovered Motobilt made a bumper that chopped off the front portion of the frame and provided the best clearances for off roading. This bumper is also loaded with other features such as a recessed winch plate, access hole for a suck-down winch, shackle recovery points, and an optional bull bar. In today's episode I go through the installation and review of the Tomahawk front bumper and give my justifications to why I decided to go with this bumper for my Jeep.

Really love the looks of the Tomahawk, and have been considering upgrading my cheaper aftermarket bumper with something much more solid! Appreciate your attention to detail in the install video. I only have one issue with the vacuum pump, the relocation bracket bolts to where I currently have my S-Pod mounted. 😞

    Thanks for the vid!
Tip from an aircraft mechanic: your holes didn’t line up because it’s almost impossible to drill at a perfect 90 degree angle. Best to drill those inside holes independently instead of drilling through to the other side. 🤘🏻

Can you make a mount for the actuator

I already have my vacuum pump relocated farther back as I have a stubby installed. Will I need to relocate it into the engine bay?

I can’t say for certain for your application but I would still relocate to the engine bay. It’s a pretty simple and cost effective mod

Can you use this setup with a electronic sway bar lock

Unfortunately you can’t. You’ll have to look into an aftermarket swaybar or possibly a different bumper. Motobilt has other bumpers available to work with the rubicon electronic swaybar

Are those Motobilt 4" crusher fender flares?

While this aftermarket bumper looks much better than the plastic OEM - one thing I've never understood is how people aren't ticketed more often for not having a bumper that covers the full width of the tire track (outside edge of LF to outside edge of RF tire)? Also - and not be be *especially* nit-picky / negative, but shouldn't you have mentioned disconnecting the vehicle's battery before using a plasma cutter or welding on the frame? - Other than all that - I enjoyed the video and hope your Subscriber base grows quickly.

Your right I’ll remember to mention disconnecting the battery for the next video. Thank you for the feedback!
