Understand you said might work. Why would you think it might work just curious brother? Bc it doesn't? And honestly do you really think this fan is better to have or really don't make any difference?
Having cooler air running through the console via the built in fan helps, hooking up cooling units that encourage cooling through are fine, but you must power them from a 5v dc adapter which will not place more load/demand in the Ps5 power supply which creates heat.
Another good reason to keep rockin with my Switch & all my retro consoles until the inevitable redesign. Should be cheaper, and available, in a couple years.
The problem with this is the heat is primarily around the PSU (area near where the power plug plugs in), the fan your attaching here is at the opposite side of the PS5 to affect the heat problem area so does next to nothing.
I'll say this. I install electric cabinets for robots and machines. Most places the ambient temp around these cabinets are 85-90 degrees running 24/7. We install air conditioners in in these. Then room temperature we install just fans with replacement filters but the machines shut down after a certain temp and just throw a fault code, due to being dirty. Conclusion, you need, need to have these systems in an open area away from carpet, not enclosed at all. I bet you most people that over heat the ps5 is probably lacking the area it needs. But if you can't hear the fans, they are not doing enough.
Thanks for the review. Putting the fan on one of the plates is a neat idea, but not surprising that putting a 2nd fan on top of the first doesn't really change anything
going from the original side plates to this would be a difference ... the Ps5 already pulls in a ton of air with it's fan .. 46C is not hot at all for those chip ... they are probley rated to 84C or higher
Unfortunately the only way to get a proper temperature reading would be to hook up thermocouples to the SoC and the memory modules which is what the heatsink that the PS5's fan cools. You shouldn't need any additional fans for the PS5 to run up to spec though. Unless something's wrong like you put the console inside a small closed cabinet it should be fine. The best, cheapest and easiest way to tell if your PS5 is overheating is louder than usual fan noise, that's because the fan's speed increases as the cpu/gpu temperatures rise. All this does is make your PS5 look uglier than it normally does and make even more noise. In my opinion :)
@@dv_nchitv201 I suggest leaving your PS5 alone. Install different color plates if you want but there isn't a need for a fan mod. Make sure you don't put it in an enclosed cabinet. It needs room to breathe in fresh air through the front and exhaust hot air out the back.
I have to wonder how the new 1200 model is with temperature - apparently the heat is more evenly distributed across the whole main board. I've just pre-ordered one here in Australia - really like your vids bud!
Thanks for saving us from a butt-ugly face plate. Hey if it works great, who cares how it looks. But by the looks of the probe reading it's not doing much of anything that the PS5 already does with its fans and thermal solutions.
MLP, thanks for the review - however I feel that if people have serious issues with overheating on their PS5 it could mean that there's underlying problems with the OEM cooling fan and/or the liquid metal application on the APU. This type of device seems a bit gimmicky.
I have not had overheating issues with my PS5 but I do not play for long periods of time. I honestly spend more time on my PC/Xbox SX/Switch these days. I have had it crash and wondered if it was a heat issue, bc I experienced over heating on the PS3 and PS4 Pro quite often. However, reading other comments here I do not think over heating is an issue with the PS5. It would be nice if the consoles made available a basic diagnostic to check though.
I think early on some people were having overheating issues, I never did. But I just think its from blocking airflow and cramped spaces. This thing wont't hurt any, possible it slightly helps... But really kind of makes the PS5 an eyesore lol
@@Madlittlepixel true. I bought a special heatsink for my second ssd and wondered if it would hurt. However, it seemed to help overall. I know the PS5 uses some sort of vacuum to the SSD slots, but I felt the mild piece of metal would tank with the second ssd. I think it was a saberent (???) heat sink. But really, the PS5 is way better at heat management than the PS4 pro...which was basically a space heater. Lol.
That's hilarious because I've never had an overheating problem until my PS5😂 My ps4 pro's fan would scream but I've never gotten any warnings or issues with usage. On the flip side, my ps5 recently started just shutting off without warning. Pulled the covers off and found loads of dust. I cleaned it all out but I've never had to clean any of my playstations and I still have and use my slim silver ps2, ps3 and ps4
Is it possible the tempratures are the same because you use the darkplates on the other side and the air of the fan goes through it and not mainly in the console? Could it be possible the cooling of the fan will be better if you use a normal plate on the other side?
OK I bought this for my PS5 Slim , I used the normal panels on the other side and used 1/2 inch foam pads and stuffed them at the top I also have the rear exhaust fan and my temp while playing for over 3hrs my PS5 is mostly cold except at the spot where the power supply is a little warm no where near warm as before . My Temps on the air exhausting is only at 78 degrees farhrenheit
I think what helps more is air flow behind the PS5. I have mine setup horizontally within my tv stand, it's a little cramped looking. I never saw a temperature warning, but the fan would get pretty loud. After I added a 120mm fan behind the console to help vent the hot air, it started running a lot quieter.
I got a massive fan in front of it and due to south africa having like 38 degrees 2 weeks now. It needs it. Basically you will need a fan blowing from the bottom out through the back where he has his temp probe.
45c is really low for a cpu if that's accurate. Temps really only get iffy once you're in the high 70's and even then theyre still fine. Once you get in the 80+ range then long term play can eventually damage components, but the PS5 is like a big sandwich slam packed with components so idk how those mid to high temps could effect the rest of the board and cause damage.
Yes but noticed that he is not measuring the chip but the ambient temperature, there is no way to tell how hot the chip is unless you open the whole thing and stick that probe on it
The PS5 an APU (CPU and GPU) are on the same chip so not really sure what the thermal limits should be. And taking the temperature and the exhaust is like climbing your roof and measuring the temperature at your chimney to try to read how hot your fireplace is. This text is kind of misleading.
Even 70c for a Apu/CPU is not high, rDNA 2/3 can hit 95c with no problems. 7000 series on ryzen is designed to be used to 95c daily without issues. Ps5/Xbox uses rDNA 2 from ryzen
My concern is that the air being pushed in would allow an insane amount of dust to accumulate. Shouldn't the fan be pulling air out?? Could you check to see if it did accumulate dust? (Maybe turn the fan around) & see if it has the same affect w/cooling... If it does thats great because now theres no dust buildup. Just a thought.
The fans that go on the back are a lot better I bought some from my PS5 slim and it keeps it cooler I tested it. I'm going to make a homemade fan that blows exactly right through it and right out ouf it.
Honestly, Id like to believe that Sonys engineers know what they are doing in terms of the cooling design, so while I do think its cool to have aftermarket coolers, I also think its unnecessary.
that's can help with ssd cooling but the PS5 Fan draws the majority of Air from the other side of the case so the same setup on the other plate will actually be useful here not so much but i have done same thing on my PS4 Pro and yes it works quite good but the PS4 Pro top cover prevents the air from the Fan to escape unlike PS5 Plates don't so in comparison same setup is much less useful on PS5 unless you isolate the both fans
Can't I just put it in the freezer when I'm not playing it ? Or should I just stick too playing it a couple of hours a nite and do a good clean every 3 to 4 months ? I would prefer option A

The temperature sensor on the fan itself only sees the exhaust air which is different from the tempatures of the vrm, soc, and ram are actually operating at. While the positive reviews are from people who don't know better or at worst shells. Also if your console is overheating it's either your room is too hot or your system faulty.

It's absolutely fine! And those fans will eventually damage the console. (This has been proven already with PS3/4 generations.) This is really bad content to be honest.
Probably don’t work, because intake is from the front and up parts of ps5. And exhaust is at the end of ps5. PlayStation made an engineering for the ps5 to cool efficiently.
Please no body buy these things, just a waste of money. If you want more air flow remove the cover all together and make sure you already have proper ventilation i.e. not in a cabinet or box of some sort.
I heard about speedrunners putting their NES and Super NES on hot plates to make it overclock and for Speed running so I put my PS5 on my George Foreman Grill after removing the grill plates and it started smelling like burnt plastic and I thought that was just like a good omen but all the sudden I was electrocuted and I wet myself and also my PlayStation 5 is broken
Maaaann..... I thought it would cool it at least a little bit... Seems to be a bit of a scam.... Didn't really go down and stay at a lower temp. Interesting !! Thanks for the vid !!
Not only that but these things have been proven to be bad in the past (PS3/PS4). Seen a lot of these after market things. Baffles me that people still fall for these!
Get the oivo gaming fan it actually feeds air into the ps5 air vents so the system actually is getting a supply of cooler air. This fan is just sitting on top of the plastic case idk how it’s supposed to cool the system. 🤓
I've seen so many stupid replies like this. The new plate cover with attached fan is vented so it sets over the vent fan of existing fan so it blows more cool air into the system. How are ppl so ignorant to that?
This product is super rip off gimmick. Keep your room cool and you'll be ok. You can get a regular fan pointing it directly to the system if you're too concerned.
It reminds me of that Intercooler thing from Nyko, which hurts the Xbox 360 more than it helps. Also, why do you have the Random House logo on your arm?
Its not cooling anything. The fan is supposed to help exhaust the heat. It's not helping or hurting and it's ugly. It should fall to 90F. Anything above 100 is like a baby with a fever. Risking death.
I have day 1 model with wdblack internal ssd, over heats after half hour into gaming, luckily i still have a ps4 with runs better than the ps5 it just sound like a jet engine, I think ps5 was rushed and made to break.
@@andyslate9996you either didn’t clean the dust in your ps5 or you developed a dry spot with your Liquid Metal. Both are free fixes if one is comfortable disassembling their ps5 and re-spreading the stock Liquid Metal onto the apu.
I'm unsubscribing. I'm sorry but anyone who advices to people buying shitty things like that (and people still falling for this) is beyond me. This is really bad for your console. Anyway, i know i'm just one person and you don't care but i can't support this type of content.
@@Games.Gadgets.Sports Because it messes up temps. I've seen enough reviews about these kind of stuff. If you want to get one, no one is holding you back. LOL
@@DBLCreations alrdy have one and even using it and works fine. How does it mess temps up?? It tells you the temperature in real time all the time. All it does is help push more outside air into the console to keep it cool. I guess I don't see how this does any harm to the system at all. If anything it actually tells you how hot your PS5 is. Now some of the other less thght out cooling fans def are a waste like the one I seen where they have u put it on the back and literally blows the exhaust hot air back into the system which is dumb or the ones that blow air from the bottom which does nothing but hit hard plastic but not all are created equal. Just my take on it. First one I've ever bought for any system but so far don't see a issue with it all. If it only works a little just seeing the temp is worth the money to me and the fan is actually pretty strong. It's engineered better and placed better then all others I've seen.
@@Games.Gadgets.Sports Measuring the temperature of your exhaust does not mean that's the temperature of your engine, does that make sense? The same thing applies here. The Playstation 5 fan is designed to push the hot air away from the heatsink and power supply and that in turn cools them. Honestly I would not want another device pushing harder airflow directly onto the console fan (cannot be good for long term use). The question should be, what does the exhaust temperature mean here (at low, or high temps)? Having higher temps mean that the heatsink is pulling our a lot of heat from the APU and that's great. I would say lower temps might mean that the heatsink pulling less heat from the APU and that's not so good. And to be fair to the original comment here. Companies have been making cheap devices like this since the 360 eara and most (if not all) of them actually don't work, or make your console hotter. Becuae most of them impede airflow and that causes the components to get hotter.

I remember having the 3 cooling fans attachment on the back of the PS3 slim. Don't know if it really helped but it looked sleek.
I had one for my ps3 it worked
Yep. I had one on my desk that id rest my laptop on back in the day. Cooled it right down
This aftermarket fan wasn't doing anything since the stock fan is already doing its job at 100%
I heard about speedrunners putting their NES and Super NES on hot plates to make it overclock and for Speed running so I put my PS5 on my George Foreman Grill after removing the grill plates and it started smelling like burnt plastic and I thought that was just like a good omen but all the sudden I was electrocuted and I wet myself and also my PlayStation 5 is broken
Maaaann..... I thought it would cool it at least a little bit... Seems to be a bit of a scam.... Didn't really go down and stay at a lower temp. Interesting !! Thanks for the vid !!
think ill install my ps5 into a pc case before i picked that up
Looks like a waste of money if it isn't improving the temperatures from what they were without using it.
Not only that but these things have been proven to be bad in the past (PS3/PS4). Seen a lot of these after market things. Baffles me that people still fall for these!
good video.. hoenst review! you are rare in the world of RUclips.
first iteration console vibes
Celsius? I thought you lived in California.
Talking the plates off is easy af. Definitely not a pain in the ass lol
Everyone owning a ps5 should weekly clean it. This this hogs dust like a mofo
I keep mine on a hotplate, is this a bad idea???
You put the G in my G story
That’s where the gpu is that’s why it gets so hot ps5 literally doesn’t care tho
Does the fan cool the ps5
I use my PS5 to cook hot pockets for lunch is that okay?
yep
@@Madlittlepixel thanks man the Hot Pockets come out really crispy on the outside but gooey cheesy on the inside
Doesn't that make the system lopsided?
It reminds me of that Intercooler thing from Nyko, which hurts the Xbox 360 more than it helps. Also, why do you have the Random House logo on your arm?
And to think they sent this to him thinking it was gonna do well. It's so ugly too.
Its not cooling anything.
The fan is supposed to help exhaust the heat.
It's not helping or hurting and it's ugly.
It should fall to 90F. Anything above 100 is like a baby with a fever. Risking death.
Good job.
Why do you need a cooling fan? The ps5 has a fan and a heatsink so why do you need e fan on the outside waste of money
Had the PS5 day one and not had one overheating issue. Very well made console with massive fan. This looks damn bad lol
I have day 1 model with wdblack internal ssd, over heats after half hour into gaming, luckily i still have a ps4 with runs better than the ps5 it just sound like a jet engine, I think ps5 was rushed and made to break.
@@andyslate9996 Don't lie please. Amazing console and silent 👍
@@andyslate9996you either didn’t clean the dust in your ps5 or you developed a dry spot with your Liquid Metal. Both are free fixes if one is comfortable disassembling their ps5 and re-spreading the stock Liquid Metal onto the apu.
Cool video. o7 MLP
That looks stupid. Even if it may help, that fan is way too large coming off the side.
Wouldn't buy doesn't cool where it's needed
Who asked for an Intercooler in 2022?
Lmao if you had the original panel on the other side you wouldn't be losing most the air you are pumping in with the fan on the opposite side .
lol ps5 fan blows out air this fan blows in air what a waste😅
Might aswell just have a custom pc.
👍🏻
Thay never bin a good thing
That looks hideous
Good God that is hideous.
I'm unsubscribing. I'm sorry but anyone who advices to people buying shitty things like that (and people still falling for this) is beyond me. This is really bad for your console. (No matter which one.) It's been done in the past, and a lot of gamers had their console either being bricked or just performed worse!
Anyway, i know i'm just one person and you don't care but i can't support this type of content.
How hell cld this thing brick a console lmao...it's helping to blow cool air into the console lol
@@blake112x well seemed to do fine but regardless i just sold my ps5 n went all pc n quest vr so not worried bout it anymore, but thanks for reply
That’s not that hot. PC Cards get much hotter! Be blessed.
