    Hank, I believe if you had more seat time you could have gotten that thing out by your self. You would have known how to spin the tracks while the bucket lifts the front of the tracks. You would know to take those trees and load them across the tracks. You figured that one out eventually. I do have a question, is that thing gas or diesel? IF diesel, you aren't doing it any favors by shutting it down and starting it up all the time. Just leave it running. Good Job and you have a great neighbor!

    Attaching the chain to the end of the boom is going to pull whichever way you are pointing. Tie the chain to track frame and then use the boom to help it slide over the stumps and help it pull the machine forward. Really cool though and y’all did a great job. Love this channel it’s allways interesting 😂

  • @stoneycarter5546
    @stoneycarter5546 Год назад +8

    Just a thought every time you sink that bucket up in front of you you're just making a deeper hole extend the boom out as far as you can hook a chain around the bottom of a tree hook the chain to the boom and pull yourself out or lay logs crossways and ride on top them until your out, and you need to get you some rail road ties lay them sideways and bridge yourself out

    it is essential to be able to use the foot drive pedals and pilot controls simultaneously when you have a machine hung. the lack there of made this much more difficult than need be. Pivot the house and undercarriage opposite to get the machine to turn

    • @JustaMechanic92
      @JustaMechanic92 Год назад +3

      Same thing I told him. Gotta stop using them hands to operate the tracks. That’s what them feet are for. To get the tracks to rotate with or against the cab you gotta use your feet and use your hands to operate the book to get pressure off the tracks enough to rotate without throwing the tracks off. Or if in this situation to get the tracks out I’d the muddy hole and turn the way you want them to go.

    • @JustaMechanic92

      That machine is very capable of operating in a swamp. That’s what their built to do. That’s why their smaller, lighter weight, to go in places a bigger one can’t. Just gotta be mindful of how not to sink up the door and how to operate it to get itself back out. I worked with the railroad (bridge gang) and we used a mini a little bigger than this and it stayed in swamps. Those mini’s are surprising at what they’re capable of.

    So, I'm at the very beginning here, 7 minutes in.. I'm sure you'll explain it later Hank, but just looking at the predicament you're in here my friend, how.. what were you trying to accomplish going INTO the crap there? Generally when you're navigating swamp mess like that you start from the outside and clear your way in, dropping the trees down to build the road ahead of you so you DON'T get jammed in there like that, and you always have a road of logs behind you to back out on. Not sure your objective here the day you got stuck, but I KNOW with the help of a friend and neighbor you'll be just fine getting that machine back home!! Wow I can't wait to see how this goes!!

  • @JustaMechanic92

    The way you should’ve done it was keep your hands on the joysticks operate the top with your hands, and operate the tracks with your feet, push your left pedal down with your heel and the right pedal down with your toe to make them go opposite directions and spin the whole bottom towards the way you were originally wanting to go. At the same time push down and turn the top to the right and the whole bottom would’ve spun sitting still. You kept saying you didn’t know which way the tracks were going or which was turning because you were backwards but the pedals that’s meant for your feet never change the directions or the sides that they operate. If you know what they do when the bucket is facing forwards with the blade then you know what they do when the bucket is backwards away from the blade they still operate the tracks the same exact way. All you need to do is remember that heel of foot is now “forwards” and toes are now “backwards” that’s it. Don’t try telling yourself that the tracks are backwards because they’re not the left pedal still operates the left track and the right pedal still operates the right track. Your issue was you kept taking your hands off the joysticks and using them to operate the tracks, when you get into a situation like that you need to use your feet for the tracks and keep your hands on the joysticks and idle the thing down. You could’ve accidentally but very easily killed your neighbor just from the idle being high all the time and you swinging to fast and hitting him. Gotta slow down. Use your brain and think about what your wanting the mini to do and make it do it. If it’s physically possible it’ll do it. I use to run one, one size bigger with s enclosed cab on the railroad. So I’ve had all kinds of situation happen just like you were in, I was a hand and foreman on the bridge department which means we built, repaired, and added on to railroad bridges. So a mini was crucial in what we did. Always around water or steep environments.

    • @drufuss1981

      You have experience with excavators because you speak from lessons learned.
      I told him the same thing at least ten times but he couldn't hear me from Kentucky to Florida... Lol I just got a Kubota KX040-4 stuck and unstuck on Thursday night and this being Saturday afternoon. It's fresh on my mind.

    • @JustaMechanic92
      @JustaMechanic92 Год назад

      @@drufuss1981 yea I use to work for the railroad for 6 years on the bridge gang. Every crew had a mini “one size bigger than that one with a enclosed cab” and using a mini was literally how we would set pylons, dig out pylons, lift heavy steel all kinds of things, but they’re bad about throwing the tracks even when they’re tight, getting stuck wasn’t a issue because it could nearly always pull itself out, I’ve seen a mini do some crazy things, things a excavator shouldn’t be doing at all, we use to have to load it onto the rails drive it on the rails and then load it using itself to drive up on s trailer that’s built to ride on the rails, I’ve seen one go up a almost 90* hill by itself, just buy using the blade to keep it from sliding back down and using the bucket to pull itself up it tracks were pretty much useless. Luckily we never rolled one, but it was very possible they’re not like the bigger excavators they’re stable to an extent. But they will roll easily if you don’t know what your doing. Especially on a railroad track. Like in this situation he could’ve used stumps to pull hisself out instead of trying to dig the bucket in the mud, or instead of using the tractor use trees to wrap the chain around. And pull with the bucket, and man keeping that thing wide open all the time is dangerous, it’s very easy to hurt somebody with machinery because of blind spots and it being loud not being able to hear somebody hollering. But yea most of the stuff I learned was from experience and always thinking ahead the best you can. Keep people away from the machine while it’s being operated. Do the best you can to keep everybody safe and going back home that day. Luckily I never had to learn that lesson from actually hurting somebody. But yea lessons learned is right. Didn’t have a choice with the railroad because they would’ve been pissed if their brand new mini excavators woks be been rolled or destroyed.

    Hank , I can't believe that with all of your expierence dealing with this equipment and stuck equipment that you would get your excavator stuck in a situation like this ! Just remember excavators don't float very well and water doesn't support weight !
