The great Manipuri culture has same threads like all of India. The Manipuri dance is part of rich Indian classical dance forms. So plesse don't think of separation North East was not represented in Indian social network for a long 70 years. But now the present Government has done a lot to correct that. The dance and music of Assam during Bihu is thrilling🎍. It's my dream to visit Kamakya Devi.🙏 And Manipur.. Before the British came in my state we were just small territories each ruled by chiefs elected by a number of elders or ministers you could say. Even Sylhet in Bangladesh used to be part of one of these territories.

Very well addressed bro. The fact that we are too diverse than any part of India makes it very susceptible to disharmony. Today we are together only because we are fighting for the same cause of identity and acceptance. But once we are together, we would turn extremely hyper-tribalist and it may shatter our greater political cause and the need of overall development. And as you pointed out, the various part would be affected by other nations such as Nepal (Sikkim), China (Aruncahal+part of Assam), Myanmar (Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland), and by Bangladesh (Tripura and Meghalaya). I am pretty sure, no sooner we gain freedom than we would be demanding our own small nations. Most probably each state would run for sovereignty. Pardon my long narrative as I also touched on contemporary issues and future prospects and possibilities for NEI. 1. No, it will not be more developed than it is now because of inevitable civil wars and sectarian violence. If NEI were a nation immediately after British India era, civil war would have broken out because the whole region was too tribalistic, neighboring villages used to wage war with one another. Contrary to the popular cliche 'unity in diversity', ethnic diversity often breeds hostility and communal strive, especially in the absence of a dominant central administrative power. Strength in diversity comes from managing that diversity well, not diversity per se. In this sense, British India brought peace and stability to the region and ignited the people's desire for socio-economic progress and development. It also brought the Naga tribes to realisation that they need to unite under a common national identity and umbrella organisation, which have served them well and contributed to peace and stability in this periodically restive region. 2. Socialist communist and Tribal Laws would have dominated. 3. NEI as one nation is impossible to work, maybe can work as a Federation (of many States). Unity in such a diverse tribalistic culture is not possible. Just look at tribal Middle East or Africa. Even a common religion will not lead to unity, only a homogenous race might. 4. NEI by now will have become part Myanmar, part Bangladesh, part China and part India because it would not have been able to defend against foreign forces. Post India independence, without Indian administration and protection, the NEI region would have become vulnerable to foreign invasion, civil war and sectarian violence once again. Even today, there are endless state border disputes, ethnic insurgencies and communal tensions. Without a neutral mediator or intervening force from the central security service, border conflicts and communal disputes could easily spiral into an endless cycle of violence. So, I would say that being part of greater India until now have been a plus rather than a minus given that the region have enjoyed relative peace and stability, and enjoyed some basic minimum services in security, healthcare, infrastructure development, and other socio-economic progress from funds and British colonial administrative competencies made available by the central Indian government. However, the situation today is very different. NEI have lagged behind in infrastructure development which is constricting its socio-economic progress. The Central government will not invest because it lack the funds, due to other national priorities and because of discriminatory national politics. A good road, rail and air connectivity is currently lacking to enable a vibrant and fast growth local economy to thrive. I do not see the Indian central government making available the huge outlay of capital expenditure fund anytime soon required for such infrastructure projects. There is so much talent and potential in the NEI region because of the high literacy rate, the inclusive minded and progressive majority who speaks the English language, including the Christian majority in Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram. However, economic and employment opportunities are lacking, especially for the hill community. The educated pool of human capital remains largely unproductive due to inefficient and uneven allocation of national resources for development. India spends too much on its military, India is the second largest export market for arms exporting countries. Now is the correct time for NEI states to chart its own course for a better and prosperous future by opening up and connecting economically with ASEAN and East Asia. Industrialisation will be difficult and slow for a landlocked region like NEI with no sea ports because overland transport cost is the largest component of most manufactured products thus location wise NEI is not ideal for foreign investors to set up factories. Therefore, private sector employment opportunities are severely limited for half the population consisting of highlanders. The only way out and up for the hill community's younger generation is through marketable professional or tertiary academic qualifications that open doors of employment for them in big cities locally or abroad. As a mainly agrarian economy, the present working generation, especially those in the hills will have to be enterprising and think big, think export market, think wholesale for their agriculture and horticulture projects. Big time farmers can be very rich too, villages can form Cooperatives and go into large scale commercial farming and crop cultivation. Hill communities need to aggressively seek and engage in commerce and profit oriented business activities with the larger population in towns and cities because isolation and exclusion will impoverish the community in a rapidly growing economy. Fast forward to the future, the prospects for NEI are tremendous and bright, provided the necessary prevailing factors are favourable such as the outcome of the Nagaland quest for independence or self-rule, the Myanmar political situation, China-India geopolitics and the numerous local insurgencies. Without peace and political stability there can be no sustainable economic development and prosperity. NEI, whether independent or as an autonomous region or part of Union Territory must not get itself involved and be used in the China-India conflict but be friendly with all parties. NEI will need private and foreign investments to succeed economically, including Indian investments. Hypothetically, as a nation, NEI should align with ASEAN and be connected economically to the Asean, Indian and larger East Asia market. This century is the Asian century, and Myanmar, provided is peaceful and politically stable, will be the land route gateway to prosperous Indo China region. Overland connectivity to China can also bring prosperity to the NEI region but this is a sensitive national issue and a potential flashpoint for conflict and instability. Managing diversity and inclusivity is not easy but if done correctly, NEI region can prosper beyond imagination in this Asian century when the overland Belt & Road Initiatives (BRI) is completed and in full swing. I am sure China and ASEAN will be keen to invest in a region that has a combined population of 40 million. For now, there is so much NEI can offer as a fascinating international tourist destination with its diverse culture, history, amazing people, awesome landscape and nature. God willing, I shall plan a visit soon.
The China-Myanmar-Bangladesh-India BRI corridor will pass through Manipur into Bangladesh port, NEI will start to boom economically ten years from now. Be ready to capitalise on the opportunities.

We were able to stop Hindustani Invasions even during a time when Hindustan was a superpower during the time of Aurangzeb Alamgir. We were not weak stuffs. Even the Country of Bhutan felt safe from hindustani invasion at the presence of a strong Northeastern Government. After the fall of Koch Kamata kingdom into the hands of Hindustani Empire, and separation of the kingdom half of the kingdom ruled by the descendents of Chilarai joined the union again and and formed a greater power under the then Assamese Army. The Ahom Army who fought the battle of Saraighat included not only Assamese people but also, kachari, bodo, koch, ahoms, adi, jaintia, naga, dafla peoples who got united just in need to safeguard our country. Even during Burmese invasion the rulers of Manipur and Cachar United against the Burmese and also help Ahom ruler to tackle the internal rebellion and Burmese invasion. We lived together independently, we fought together independently and we loose together united. But the main thing is that we were there for each other during that time, there was no india for us then. Even after independence when the Chinese invaded us in 1962, where was the loving Indian Govt. for us? They declared that they will not be able to save Northeast (then Assam Undivided) and the gave up hope of having northeast as a part of their country without even trying to save it. The chinese Army reached Bomdila and even the influence reached to Tezpur where the indian money was burnt down in the banks and the officials left to mainland without thinking of what would happen to these locals from whom they have been taking the resources for development of the country. I am not against the Indian Union, as an Indian of present forgetting the past I am proud of its development. But never forget we were together was much more happy and we had a federal form of govt. unlike India. We had a type of govt. like the United States. That is the reason we are not happy as our dual citizenship and certain powers has been curtailed in this union. And if we were independent, we could have been much more powerful and developed than this present one. There would not be any hindi official language in any of the region and every there could be local langua franca and english determining our unique identity, unique time zone and many more. Moreover how many of you all have forgotten AFSPA through thousand of our youth were killed tortured and devasted by the indian army, operation rhino, operation bajrang the indian army organized through which the raped the northeastern women in front of husbands girls in from of their parents in the name of thurd degree. Have you forgotten the naked movement of manipur by the women whose slogan was Indian Army, come rape us. I know Arunachal got a great influence by the indian culture and nationalist view due to the presence of a large number of Indian army camps and bases throughout the state and that is why its langua franca changed from NEFAmese to hindi. I am afraid it would soon loose its entire culture to the mainland Indians just like it had lost its language. I would request everyone from northeast, even if you stand for independence, just stand for the justice of northeast. If we don't get independence, its ok but atleast we need a special identity under india, a dualcitizenship, a seperate timezone and a seperate flag and Constitution that can save us against the infiltration of Bangladeshi immigrants whom the induan govt. want to established in our sacred land of northeast at present time. Stand together, speak for justice, speak for our brothers of tripura so that they get justice raise your voice against these things so that your central land Assam doesn't become a breeding ground for bangladeshis in nearby future. And by bangladeshi I mean both hindus Bangladeshi and muslim bangladeshi. Bangladeshi is not defined by religion. Just united brothers.

History is the witness that, when the time of British left mainland India i.e, 15th August 1947, Northeast States were not a part of India. After some years, North-east states leaders or kings were threaten and forced to join India. It's like another colonialism after British. 3. Let the northeastern people (and politicians) be active in politics of rest of India like Maharashtra, Kerala,J&K, U.P. Bengal, Bihar etc.

The fact that we are too diverse than any part of India makes it very susceptible to disharmony. Today we are together only because we are fighting for the same cause of identity and acceptance.
But once we are together, we would turn extremely hyper-tribalist and it may shatter our greater political cause and the need of overall development.
And as you pointed out, the various part would be affected by other nations such as Nepal (Sikkim), China (Aruncahal+part of Assam), Myanmar (Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland), and by Bangladesh (Tripura and Meghalaya).
I am pretty sure, no sooner we gain freedom than we would be demanding our own small nations. Most probably each state would run for sovereignty.

Assam was never different from other states man. Actually it is confused most of the time. We always have the same culture and even same people as other states, even 70% ofthe Assamese population is of mongoloid race. Assamese people look different from the others because Assamese is not a community it is a nationality and whoever enters itwhole heartedly, we accept them as Assamese may he/she be from mainland india also. Originally, Assamese community contains alm the northeastern tribes of Ahom, kachari, mizo, jaintia, naga, bodo, koch, kalitas, dalfas, dimasas, karbis, mishings, manipuri, tripuri etc.

Pardon my long narrative as I also touched on contemporary issues and future prospects and possibilities for NEI.
1. No, it will not be more developed than it is now because of inevitable civil wars and sectarian violence.
If NEI were a nation immediately after British India era, civil war would have broken out because the whole region was too tribalistic, neighboring villages used to wage war with one another. Contrary to the popular cliche 'unity in diversity', ethnic diversity often breeds hostility and communal strive, especially in the absence of a dominant central administrative power. Strength in diversity comes from managing that diversity well, not diversity per se.
In this sense, British India brought peace and stability to the region and ignited the people's desire for socio-economic progress and development. It also brought the Naga tribes to realisation that they need to unite under a common national identity and umbrella organisation, which have served them well and contributed to peace and stability in this periodically restive region.
2. Socialist communist and Tribal Laws would have dominated.
3. NEI as one nation is impossible to work, maybe can work as a Federation (of many States). Unity in such a diverse tribalistic culture is not possible. Just look at tribal Middle East or Africa. Even a common religion will not lead to unity, only a homogenous race might.
4. NEI by now will have become part Myanmar, part Bangladesh, part China and part India because it would not have been able to defend against foreign forces.
Post India independence, without Indian administration and protection, the NEI region would have become vulnerable to foreign invasion, civil war and sectarian violence once again. Even today, there are endless state border disputes, ethnic insurgencies and communal tensions. Without a neutral mediator or intervening force from the central security service, border conflicts and communal disputes could easily spiral into an endless cycle of violence. So, I would say that being part of greater India until now have been a plus rather than a minus given that the region have enjoyed relative peace and stability, and enjoyed some basic minimum services in security, healthcare, infrastructure development, and other socio-economic progress from funds and British colonial administrative competencies made available by the central Indian government.
However, the situation today is very different. NEI have lagged behind in infrastructure development which is constricting its socio-economic progress. The Central government will not invest because it lack the funds, due to other national priorities and because of discriminatory national politics. A good road, rail and air connectivity is currently lacking to enable a vibrant and fast growth local economy to thrive. I do not see the Indian central government making available the huge outlay of capital expenditure fund anytime soon required for such infrastructure projects.
There is so much talent and potential in the NEI region because of the high literacy rate, the inclusive minded and progressive majority who speaks the English language, including the Christian majority in Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram. However, economic and employment opportunities are lacking, especially for the hill community. The educated pool of human capital remains largely unproductive due to inefficient and uneven allocation of national resources for development. India spends too much on its military, India is the second largest export market for arms exporting countries. Now is the correct time for NEI states to chart its own course for a better and prosperous future by opening up and connecting economically with ASEAN and East Asia.
Industrialisation will be difficult and slow for a landlocked region like NEI with no sea ports because overland transport cost is the largest component of most manufactured products thus location wise NEI is not ideal for foreign investors to set up factories. Therefore, private sector employment opportunities are severely limited for half the population consisting of highlanders. The only way out and up for the hill community's younger generation is through marketable professional or tertiary academic qualifications that open doors of employment for them in big cities locally or abroad.
As a mainly agrarian economy, the present working generation, especially those in the hills will have to be enterprising and think big, think export market, think wholesale for their agriculture and horticulture projects. Big time farmers can be very rich too, villages can form Cooperatives and go into large scale commercial farming and crop cultivation.
Hill communities need to aggressively seek and engage in commerce and profit oriented business activities with the larger population in towns and cities because isolation and exclusion will impoverish the community in a rapidly growing economy.
Fast forward to the future, the prospects for NEI are tremendous and bright, provided the necessary prevailing factors are favourable such as the outcome of the Nagaland quest for independence or self-rule, the Myanmar political situation, China-India geopolitics and the numerous local insurgencies. Without peace and political stability there can be no sustainable economic development and prosperity.
NEI, whether independent or as an autonomous region or part of Union Territory must not get itself involved and be used in the China-India conflict but be friendly with all parties. NEI will need private and foreign investments to succeed economically, including Indian investments. Hypothetically, as a nation, NEI should align with ASEAN and be connected economically to the Asean, Indian and larger East Asia market. This century is the Asian century, and Myanmar, provided is peaceful and politically stable, will be the land route gateway to prosperous Indo China region. Overland connectivity to China can also bring prosperity to the NEI region but this is a sensitive national issue and a potential flashpoint for conflict and instability.
Managing diversity and inclusivity is not easy but if done correctly, NEI region can prosper beyond imagination in this Asian century when the overland Belt & Road Initiatives (BRI) is completed and in full swing. I am sure China and ASEAN will be keen to invest in a region that has a combined population of 40 million.
For now, there is so much NEI can offer as a fascinating international tourist destination with its diverse culture, history, amazing people, awesome landscape and nature. God willing, I shall plan a visit soon.

For everyone who is here to oppose a separate country must remember we have fought the very Banga Desh and Hindustani soldiers from a time when there was no british,as an united national armies of Kamata, Ahom, Jayantia, Kachari, Chutia, Tripuri Kingdoms that represented the northeast during those historical times of 13th-14th century. We do have a history and our history has never been shown in depth in our books in fear of internal security. We as a whole never submitted to the invaders from the west may it be Mir Jumla of Bengal or Raja Ram Singha from Hindustan. We were able to stop Hindustani Invasions even during a time when Hindustan was a superpower during the time of Aurangzeb Alamgir. We were not weak stuffs. Even the Country of Bhutan felt safe from hindustani invasion at the presence of a strong Northeastern Government. After the fall of Koch Kamata kingdom into the hands of Hindustani Empire, and separation of the kingdom half of the kingdom ruled by the descendents of Chilarai joined the union again and and formed a greater power under the then Assamese Army. The Ahom Army who fought the battle of Saraighat included not only Assamese people but also, kachari, bodo, koch, ahoms, adi, jaintia, naga, dafla peoples who got united just in need to safeguard our country. Even during Burmese invasion the rulers of Manipur and Cachar United against the Burmese and also help Ahom ruler to tackle the internal rebellion and Burmese invasion. We lived together independently, we fought together independently and we loose together united. But the main thing is that we were there for each other during that time, there was no india for us then. Even after independence when the Chinese invaded us in 1962, where was the loving Indian Govt. for us? They declared that they will not be able to save Northeast (then Assam Undivided) and the gave up hope of having northeast as a part of their country without even trying to save it. The chinese Army reached Bomdila and even the influence reached to Tezpur where the indian money was burnt down in the banks and the officials left to mainland without thinking of what would happen to these locals from whom they have been taking the resources for development of the country. I am not against the Indian Union, as an Indian of present forgetting the past I am proud of its development. But never forget we were together was much more happy and we had a federal form of govt. unlike India. We had a type of govt. like the United States. That is the reason we are not happy as our dual citizenship and certain powers has been curtailed in this union. And if we were independent, we could have been much more powerful and developed than this present one. There would not be any hindi official language in any of the region and every there could be local langua franca and english determining our unique identity, unique time zone and many more. Moreover how many of you all have forgotten AFSPA through thousand of our youth were killed tortured and devasted by the indian army, operation rhino, operation bajrang the indian army organized through which the raped the northeastern women in front of husbands girls in from of their parents in the name of thurd degree. Have you forgotten the naked movement of manipur by the women whose slogan was Indian Army, come rape us. I know Arunachal got a great influence by the indian culture and nationalist view due to the presence of a large number of Indian army camps and bases throughout the state and that is why its langua franca changed from NEFAmese to hindi. I am afraid it would soon loose its entire culture to the mainland Indians just like it had lost its language. I would request everyone from northeast, even if you stand for independence, just stand for the justice of northeast. If we don't get independence, its ok but atleast we need a special identity under india, a dualcitizenship, a seperate timezone and a seperate flag and Constitution that can save us against the infiltration of Bangladeshi immigrants whom the induan govt. want to established in our sacred land of northeast at present time. Stand together, speak for justice, speak for our brothers of tripura so that they get justice raise your voice against these things so that your central land Assam doesn't become a breeding ground for bangladeshis in nearby future. And by bangladeshi I mean both hindus Bangladeshi and muslim bangladeshi. Bangladeshi is not defined by religion. Just united brothers.
