For a cheap filler in the bottom of the case, I've started to use melted parrafin candle wax. Use silicone caulking to fill any holes that would leak since melted wax is fluid like water. Melted wax won't hurt the plastic case. Plus, It only costs me $2 per keyboard! I found $5 one pound blocks at my local hobby store. It's non-conductive, non-toxic, and reusable. It can be remelted and poured over and over again.
Howdy hey. I saw some of the other contestant vids and I did not hear any rule about a working keyboard. You did great on the challenge. You are the budget champ (I mean it in a respectful way)!

Hey hipyo!! Just wanted to say I absolutely love your new song!! Listened to it on repeat all of yesterday and it's definitely one of my favorite songs in recent months. Keep up the great work!!
I wish I knew about this fair cheating. I actually like how your keyboard looks a lot more! Haha but I loled when I saw you sitting next to the humidifier... I don't know why. I have a problem... Shouldn't have eaten that glue
The pudding caps have grown on me, since the ambient lighting helps much more to keep track of where the hand on the keyboard is than a single key being legible.
Bro hipyo, I’ve been getting into ergo mecha builds lately and wonder if you will ever do any? Idk why but split ergo keebs and ergo in general are so appealing to me
hey pro tip you can take switches off with a screw driver or even a scissor flat screwdriver works the best and if you have unresponsive keys remove a switch from your numpad or someplace you dont use and switch it out for the one you do use clean all the dirt from the pcb under it also
I just bought a new keyboard, it was the "Keychron C1". I wanted to mod it to make it sound good and then I would keep that for as long as possible. Turns out I don't need to, IT'S ALREADY GOOD OUT OF THE BOX!
This video makes me want to see a 'scavenge only'/'repurpose only' video .. Edit for clarifiction: The purpose of the challenge would be to only use materials from other applications, and no purpose-meant stuff. (I wonder if WD-40 is still bad if you use it in the bag?)
Hey hippio I like the idea of you were to collect all your previous keyboards that you don’t use any more and partner with a company to sell all of them as a charity event.
I think the keyboard was still entirely salvageable. All you had to do was solder some wires from the broken off hotswap socket following the PCB traces to the next pads (to either the diode or the next socket pad in the sequence) I had to do the same thing for a stripped solder pad on my Keychron K4
you can just bridge popped out hotswap sockets :( the right way would of course be soldering iron+wire, but there are other conductive things that can work for long enough to win a challenge... ;)
...suspicious looking white powder on kitchen table, press 'n seal just layin' around, and an air purifier... Hipyo low-key drug trafficking as a side hustle to building keyboards on RUclips.
Pretty sure getting those sockets back on wouldn't be too hard, just some glue and some bodge wires (or just solder bridge if the nearby traces are still good).
I was gonna say that carbon touching a pcb with contacts/traces on it (for the parts that don't have solder mask obviously) is not a good idea because it's a conductor but I guess the press n' seal kinda counteracts that? Haha
tbh the razer blackwidow v3 wireless yellow linear switches are thoccy, silent and amazing. Modifying KB's or buying trash KB's for 20$ less makes no sense. Get the razer blackwidow wireless off amazon renew for $85, it's definitely worth it much better price for value compared to modding or buying overly expensive $500 KBs that are custom. The quality is amazing too after 6 months of using.
I wanna comment just in Hipyo sees this but, there is a keyboard i found that surprised me because its available in my country (i dont have access to premium custom keyboard sites and can only buy gaming ones). There is a keyboard by Fantech that has Hipyo's favourite gatreon milky yellows that are even pre lubed AND hot swappable. It also has south facing leds and built in case and plate foam The keyboard is called fantech maxfit 67 and it would be cool to see him try it :)
Listen to my new song "WAKE UP" here: kadelimusic.com/wakeup.oyd

Haven't listened to it yet but I think it will be great
wake up is definitely my favorite song you’ve released so far it’s really freaking catchy
YOUR NEW SONG IS REALLY GOOD. Already listened to it on repeat and almost memoried the lyrics ha ha
what if you filled it with paper instead? I want top do a mod to my gk64x but I don't have anything besides post it notes
What if you used bubble wrap?
I love how hes slamming the keys during the before test but delicately pressing the keys during the after test. the best B&A testing I've ever seen.
