I'd describe the Regna as super stable, very plush. It does everything. It's not plush like and HD, but man the touch and feel is amazing and you can do pinpoint drop shots, lobs. volleys, then crank the power on groundies and serves. Kind of a easier to use VC95 in som e ways. I do agree the Ezone 98 is very close to it.
I have this racquet. Played with it for 3 months. Its def not for every one. I can definitely confirm that I can't do top spin on command on this racquet. But I think it's alot better on flat shots. When ever I flatten and full swing. It almost always goes in and is basically pin point accurate. I have never been able to full swing at 100% power and keep the ball in with out much spin. This racquet really does that. First serves are amazing too and so are volleys. I agree with the backhand. It's diffcult to hit with and doesn't give you much. Overall I think if you have an hyper aggressive play style and hit flat. This is a great racquet that matches the hype. But if you do alot of spin, it really doesn't work well with that. The feeling of crushing the ball is amazing tho. That's what's addictive about this racquet.
I felt the same way at first but I learned from the Japanese Regna 98 players to lower the tension (35-40 lbs). Didn’t have the same complaints as yours since then. 👍
This is currently my favorite. I am a big hitter and it makes the ball come off the racket perfectly. Extremely effortless. I was already hitting monster shots, but now my placement is effortless. Recommend it for people who hit hard.
Im at my honeymoon phase with my regna 100. Comparing with my daily driver ezone 98. What i noticed was it cuts through the air so much quicker, which helps my weak single hand backhand a lot. My opponent felt my bals were heavier on the regna. Both strung at 51lbs polytour pro.
I have the Regna 100, I think it's slightly more playable than the 98. Currently I use the Vcore 100. I've been a Prostaff user since I was a kid and now that I'm lacking in power and in general, lazier in movements and getting to the ball, I find the Vcore 100 much more forgiving in actual match situations. I bought the 100 tbh solely for the workmanship and the aesthetics. It looks, and feels very good - when you are not playing with it. that is. :) I find it still too unforgiving. During normal practice, rally, or whatever, it's all fine. I can hit it all day long, I can adjust launch angles as needed. But when pressured, nope - the tiny sweet spot (tiny by modern racquet standards) + lack of power doesn't do it for me. I've recently moved up to 4.5 in singles and plays probably no better than 4.0 in doubles. :)
3:25 Sounds like the racquet is designed for more ball pocketing strings, maybe not even polys (Never had a Regna in my hands; just relying on your description of how the racquet reacts to an incoming ball).
I had to trade out the leather grip for a standard head hydro pro grip, but haven't had arm issues with mine since. I love the stability, feel, controllable power, and look. I tend to hit with a lot of spin anyway so like that it tones down my spin somewhat.
I have both regna 98 and 100. I’ve tried different strings and tensions but this racquet is weird, in a bad way. blade pro is soft and I know where the ball is going. The pro staff is stiff, I know where the ball is going. This racquet, has so much vibration and “spring” that it’s uncontrollable no matter how I swing or what string and tension. I really don’t get it.
Really like your videos. I use the 2019 version and love it. Came from the Ezone Tour with 8 grams in the handle. Can't go wrong with any Yonex, but I really love the Regna with a hybrid setup.
@@tantennis I got two of the 2022 now. Your review is spot on. It's a good racquet, but it's all preference. I just love it overall as it feels sort of like a Duel G / Vcore 95 / Ezone 98.
Regnas are like expensive wine, it feel better because you know is more expensive and rare. How many tries would you have given to any other racket that feels bad the first times you use it?
Or just something like Tecnifibre Triax (poly / multifilament hybrid). I've changed to it from Polytour Pro and feels really nice so far - better tension maintenance and not as harsh.
It's not worse than a Yamaha Secret. lol. Over priced when it came out, but not for everyone. The Regna needs to be strung at a lower tension, and requires you to hit harder. It's great if you do that and give it enough power to push the ball. It pockets well and won't sail on you. For me, I don't consistently hit that hard, so I had to use the VCore98 for higher tension and more power and spin, although with less pocket control.
Harsh? You string Tour Bite and call the racquet harsh? The Regna has 63 RA, which is less than the Ezone (65, Tour is at 64). What you felt is the racquet's snap back mechanism, which launches the ball a little faster than expected. And it makes the ball ist longer on the string bed. Maybe try a softer string. Without VDM the racquet makes you feel what you string.
I owned Regna 98 and is selling the 100 both V3. I really liked the 98 for serves and volleys but the sweet spot is just too small. I think you need to play everyday to get use small sweet spot. Definitely feel is over hype especially from Tennis Spin Harry. He doesn't even use it. I can understand keeping it as an work of Art but not worth $400+ to me to just have it laying around. Selling my 100 Regna now, it plays much worst, not even close to the 98. Mainly the balance, IMO. I think the 98 is closer to the Ezone Tour. I still like the Ezone's 98 and Tour. But have switch to Solinco XTD 18x20. Awaiting your review.
I agree that Yonex Regna isn't for everyone, either you love it or hate it. I currently use Regna 98 as one of my main rackets and loved it so much since first hit!
I do not know what string u use on your regna…, and i do not know how your play style… but what you complain about it’s just don happening to me at all, mif i was not miss heard what you tell me that your tension is 46 lbs, i think is to loose.. and i do not know what your string is.. but i use solonco hyper g 17 or 18 and tension is 54 lbs both main and cross seem the racket very very good at control, power is also ok… and i don’t feel any racket bounce back everytime the ball contact the racket that make you sore your hand.. in fact in have 2 of this racket… so sorry i am not agree with your oppion..
Thanks for your input. Some say I strung it too loose so I lost control and it’s launchy. Ironically, some say I strung it too high so I get discomfort and I need to go low 40s. I’m confused here. But what I do know is the racket is string sensitive and probably suitable for flat hitters more than topspin.

I ll make the first comment. ALL MODERN yonex racquets are overrated specially after the introduction of VDM. Minimal feel and ball connection compared to Wilson/heads and even babolats. They market their racquets with their made in Japan factory but to me it’s not enough. Yonexes of the past were so much better. As for Regna i ve tested it also….. nothing special. Harsh on contact and low powered. You must fine tune it with the perfect string and tension to just be playable. Not worth it. Which version of the pro stock Blade do you have, on Pro Stock Tennis they have the H22 in both the 16x19 and 18x19 string patterns as well as the H19?
The new ones are just as good as the old ones, you just have to be good at tennis. Regna works well with lower than 48 pounds, the racket is not stiff and harsh I use Tour Bite with mine. It has incredible feel. Just need to be a high level player to really feel it.
@@prophetmargin7497h22 is a different racket to the blade pro, the blade pro blade is what it should be called on pro stock tennis, you’ll see the same V8 blades but one called blade pro, sold in small quantity from Wilson, which is a lot stiffer and slightly less feel than the H22 which is less stiff but incredible feel..
