    34000 hours in a home PC that's a lot!

Yea, I think this drive is over 15 years old.

Huge failure on the "fast format" option, with bad sectors only a slow/low format will actually help...

Hi, thanks for the tip. Indeed regular or full format also scans the entire disk for bad sectors and marks them as unusable.

I would not have done quick format on a disk that has sector errors. Bitevthe bullet and do the full format. It will take overnight!

OK, I think I'll do that, I will probably take a whole day though.

you don’t store vital files on a drive past it’s warranty time..

That's a good practice, though drives usually last much longer than the warranty period.

@@PulsarTECH drives last until they fails and then everything on them is gone. You do get warning by S.M.A.R.T tough.
It's like driving a car a full speed. Somewhere between 100 000 and 150 000 km the car will crash. You don't know where.
I would stop the car at car 100 000km. You continue to 150 000km. Guess who of us survive?

34000 hours? I replaced a 1TB with over 39000 hours. Seriously, never run a HDD for this many hours. You are just asking for a failure.

WOW, did it fail too? How old was it? 39,000 hours is more than this one. Mine still works, but it's not reliable anymore, so I only put non-important files on it.
