I was hoping you'd have visited Sintra as part of this trip. Personally I'm a little more excited about seeing Sintra over Lisbon. That train was too funny after the aqueduct last episode 🤣 Shame the gardens weren't quite as deserted, but I feel like it was less busy than I'd expected them to be. What time did you arrive to avoid the tourist masses that seemed to come by every means possible - I saw a land train, hop on hop off bus, tuk-tuk and huge 4x4 🤣 I found this video particularly helpful for when I come to plan a visit as I didn't realise the gardens and well were much lower down than the palace and you'd catch a bus between the 2! I couldn't agree more about the best view at the end too - the shots you got were stunning - and in that light too!!
It was a such a fun day, I left Lisbon at about 8am and the trains were running about every 30 minutes. Although there were a lot of tourists around I think it was generally a lot quieter than the summer months, November definitely seemed like a good time to visit. Sintra was amazing and relatively close to Lisbon so well worth at least a day if you're in the area.
Everytime you get on something it’s empty 😂 have you upset Portugal . Lovely video really enjoyable . I didn’t say anything but my dad passed 3 weeks ago with dementia and had the funeral Friday and a great send off so all good . Wasn’t sure if kosovo would still happen so wasn’t excited but I’m glad to say we are going and looking forward to it more than anything. I will relax and enjoy kosovo . Dad in a much better place now as he was suffering so I’m at peace and Happy . Look forward to more videos cheers Matt
Maybe I need to shower more frequently! I'm very sorry to hear about your loss, it's always hard when a family member passes away. I'm sure you have lots of wonderful memories with your father and like you said his illness and suffering has lifted and he's at peace once again. I'm sure your father would be proud to see you heading to pastures new & getting the most out of your time on this wondrous planet, I've got a feeling he'll be right there alongside you. Sending positive thoughts to you and your family!
I liked Sintra (from your video, I've never been there) much better than the capital Lisbon. Many beautiful and historic places to see. When do you decide to hire a car on your travels and when do you not hire a car? Does it depend on the public transport there?
Hi Olga, good question about the car - I had to think hard about that one. I guess it comes down to two things - how much effort do I want to put in and what do I want to see? There's no doubt that hiring a car adds a bit more pressure and requires more planning/organisation. Sometimes I feel I wanna put the effort in, other times I want to take it a bit easier so I rely on public transport. I tend not to hire a car if I'm predominantly visiting city's as you don't really gain anything from having a car - you tend not to use it and it's a pain to park etc. However there are some trips where having a car really adds value to the experience, like if I want to follow a specific route and see lots of things that are in the countryside where it's harder or more time consuming to get public transport - or where perhaps public transport isn't even an option. When I hire a car I feel freer - I can do what I want when I want, I can get (almost) anywhere and stop in places I otherwise wouldn't. I hope that makes sense!

You have Lisbon to yourself! That was a quick dead end. The views from the castle 😍 That's a nice yellow paint job.
Yeah I had my own train carriage taking me from Lisbon to Sinta! Just the way I like it.
Bem vindo a Portugal
Muito obrigado!
