Magic! I wonder what sort of computer handles all these effects?

Theoretically every computer can handle 3d programs such as maya or 3d max. But rendering 3d objects similar with real props requires high-performance computer. So almost every VFX studios have super computer called render farm specialized to handle 3d rendering sequences
