50 Striped Bass Caught Trolling in a Morning Kayak Fishing.

- This is my second fall striped bass fishing trip of the year. The title has 50 striped bass but I think I only got 44 on video. About 15 fish were caught in the morning when the light wasn't adequate enough to get decent footage. This is probably the best morning I've had trolling for striped bass yet. I've had some days where I'm catching 30 in 2 hours but I've never attempted to surpass 50. I hope you enjoy.

Great job! 50 fish in one morning it’s quite an accomplishment 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank! I think that’s the most i’ve caught. during light hours.
MD Yak Fishing That’s the most I’ve seen anyone catch. Great job! 🎣
This needs more views! Excellent fishing brother.
You’re the man. I appreciate it.
@@MDYakFishing I’m trying to learn how to troll in my kayak. I fish smith mountain lake mostly for striper. I’m gonna check out your gear and setup video to help me out. Appreciate you
Love your videos. Where I fish along shore, you’re lucky to catch one in 12 hours. Two would be an awesome day. And I’m serious when I say 12 hours. When I was younger with no responsibilities I started in the dark and ended in the dark. Anyway, great stuff brother!
I really appreciate it! I've done my share of shore fishing and it is tough to get a consistent bite. The places that are any good are usually shoulder to shoulder.
@@MDYakFishing ain’t that the truth!
Just found you. We kayak fish the same spots. Sure I’ve seen you/ launched next to you. 2020 was productive. Fall ‘22 Severn sucked for me.
I get that a lot. Normally I don’t have anyone around me when I launch. I have the same yellow kayak as about 10 other guys i see on the water from time to time. Shout me out next time.
Yesss exciting vid! Must’ve been fun!
Yes, very exciting. The fall striped bass fishing is phenomenal.
Just 50 stripers..lol.. that's awesome. Nice stretch of water, especially around the bridge. Looks like I bridge in Arkansas I used to fish. Miss the big rivers.
Thanks. I was just glad to be on the water at the right time. I hope the action stays hot this fall.
Wow , Buck Perry , you're either as old as I am or you've Really did your home work !!
LOL! Buck Perry is timeless. His literature has the most complete small craft trolling guide you can find.
I got to try this now lol
Good luck with it. It's a good time.
@mdyakfishing hi! I understand this is an older video, but may I ask the name of those gray lower leg thingie that's on top of your pant's legs? Thanks!
sure. Kokatat Hydrus Launch Socks
@MD Yak Fishing what's the body water here? Awesome video!
Thanks. This is the Chesapeake Bay.
Ok... First of all I just subscribed. Awesome video, I don't know how long you've been YouTubing but you must've just started because you should have way more followers than you do for the quality you put out.
Secondly, I found this video because I was thinking about trolling in my yak (I'll have to paddle with my arms though) and I was wondering if other people did it in kayaks. Glad to see it actually works, I think it would still work with me paddling, albeit a little more challenging.
Lastly, I love your mounted camera angle and how you switch over to the camera on the head. I just started YouTubing a month ago and I only have one camera. But I'm absolutely going to eventually get another camera and pretty much do the same thing you are doing after seeing this... it comes out so well.
My only question though, is how do you know the one on the head is actually filming? If it's been awhile since you recorded, won't the camera be off and you'd have to power it on? Right now I clip my camera to my NRS Chinook so I can clearly see if it is on or not.
If you answer my questions... Thanks. And if you don't, no worries, keep the videos coming.
I appreciate your comments. Thanks. I use the Gopro 8 on my head and iyou can set it up to beep when you turn it on. If i’m recording for a long time i’ll take my hat off and make sure the battery hasn’t died. Best of luck with your channel and I’m sure you can paddle and troll.
Great video, awesome fishing. My Striper fishing is fresh water but I wanted to know what your rod, reel, and line selections are. Thanks for driving my fishing spirit.
Thanks for watching. The rod setups in this video are: Shimano Teramar Med F’ 7’ with Penn Slammer 3 3500, St Croix Avid Med Mod 7’ with Penn Spinfischer iv 2500.
What area are you fishing? Looking to buy a kayak soon would love to have a nice spot to try. Great vid btw 👍🏼
I’m fishing the Chesapeake. In the fall the mouth of any of the tributaries is all you need to get on tons of fish. Good luck with the kayak. It’s my favorite way to fish.
Any tips on good launch sites, based in Silver Spring and recently started estuary fishing, so far tried Fort Armistead and Sandy Point
Honesty the mouth of most tributaries will get you on the fish. This time of year it’s tough because of the dissolved oxygen level pushing the fish into the bay.
Hi Good vidio and I have a Question are you Register the Kayak like boat registration when you use trolling motor in your Kayak??? Let me know please
yes, in Maryland if it has any kind of motor you have to register it.
I've done well in that area trolling similar lures.
It’s good to get feedback like that. Thanks!
What size rod and reel do you use for trolling?
spinfischer iv 2500 on VIS70MM inshore avid , medium power, moderate action, 7’, 12 lbs test
medium power shimano Teramar fast action, 7, TMS-70M, slammer 3 3500 12 lbs
I had a Hobie H-Rail RAILBLAZA MiniPort rod holder snap from a fish. What rod holders do you recommend?
That sucks. I’ve lost a rod holder and the rod to a fish. Not fun. The one i currently like is the Yak Attack LockNLoad holders. I talk about them in this video. ruclips.net/video/BOFq7pGCHbQ/видео.html
New sub. Great content! How much line do you put out and how much weight are you using? 🙂🎣
I generally let out about 100-150 feet of line with no extra weight.
How slow can you make that motor go. One of my issues with a bixpy is that it has a pretty high minimum speed
It’s variable speed so from 0-5 mph.
what torqeedo set up do you have?
I have the 403AC.
What kind of control box are you using for trolling motor?
The speed controller is part of the Torqeedo 403ac kit.
do you troll with current or against?
Good question, i troll with, against, and across current to see if they have a preference.
How deep did you troll the lures?
I was trolling from 3' - 8'.
@@MDYakFishingthank you for your content you post! I was wondering how you make sure your lures stay in that depth? How many feet between you do you troll your lures?
Susquehanna ?
The Susquehanna is definitely a good location to get on fish.
were is this thank you
I don’t specify locations on social media platforms. I will say I’m fishing the mouth of tributaries up and down the Chesapeake.
we fish Point Lookout every month and we get hardly nothing not even a bite lol
I really only target striped bass in fall and winter. I don’t fish for them in warm water as their catch and release survival rate is only about 60%. Point look out can be a pretty productive area. If you stay at it I’m sure you’ll find the pattern.
What kind of trolling set up are you using, especially the motor switch?
I’m using a Torqeedo 403ac. I did a basic trolling equipment here. ruclips.net/video/BOFq7pGCHbQ/видео.html
