    Mike, an artificial water pond works terribly well. Clever way of shooting birds but the temperature is unbearable 44C in Spain. Outstanding videos and pics. My best regards.
    I have been shooting various birds 20 Km from Lisbon in the Tejo (Tagus) river estuary close to Alcochete.

    Great photos as always Mike. I was an Olympus user mainly because of their ProCapture feature until Nikon offered the same functionality. I expect you know that the Nikon Z9 also has an intelligent ‘auto capture’ feature where you can not only set the distance/direction of motion/subject shape but also eliminate areas in the frame that you don’t want the camera to be triggered to shoot. This can all be used in combination with Pre-release capture. I mention this because it could be a way of avoiding the sauna of a Spanish hide! The problem is you wouldn’t get to enjoy seeing nature in real time - and do we really want user skills to become almost completely redundant?

    • @MikeLaneFRPS
      @MikeLaneFRPS  Год назад +2

      I have been asking why cameras can't introduce the new feature on Nikon for years. Once we has AF it was a simple step to take. Detect movement take a picture.
      We need one more step. A tripod head that auto pans to follow the bird. Then we can all retire. AI wins again

    • @MikeLaneFRPS
      @MikeLaneFRPS  Год назад

      Hi John,
      I can't think of any snazzy chairs in my videos. I have a very old camping stool (20 years maybe) which my wife replaces the canvas on about every 5 years. That is in the YT films. No idea of the make, but you would buy such a stool from Fishermans shops.

    OMG! 44C is an uncomfortable heat but it brings the birds to the water. I was interested in your comments about the Turtle Dove. I photographed my first Turtle Dove in Carnarvon in Western Australia in 2021 and at the time I wasn't sure what species I was observing. Quite common now in southern WA.

    • @MikeLaneFRPS

    Hello Mike,
    A little remark about the sound of your voice in the comments in the films: every time there is a "s" in the word, it gives a very sharp hissing sound which is not
    very nice to hear.
    For the rest: I do like your films very much and I learn a lot, so please do go on!

      The only challenge are small, fast birds. Anything larger than a pigeon is actually pretty easy. And the image composition is a challenge because cropping with the OM1 is somewhat limited.@@MikeLaneFRPS

    Sell your GH6 ASAP! Panasonic G9 II came that does everything like GH6, but has much better C-AF based on phase detection (at last!), is lighter, it has better battery live, an option for battery grip, it has better DR in video in low ISO and it shoots stills at 60fps! With C-AF! Prices of GH6 will drop terribly. Soon it could be worth nothing. In fact if you shoot from a tripod, G9II may turn out that it could replace your OM-1 too. Not sure if this will be as fast in terms of AF, but it definitely renders GH6 irrelevant. Also it may be a good time to sell Leica 100-400mm lens. People are going to buy this for their G9 II's
