- In Montreal, Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne delivers remarks and takes questions at an event marking the launch of the Canadian Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute. Initially announced in this year’s federal budget, the institute is one element of a larger $2.4 billion investment to aid in the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence technology. Also delivering remarks is Yoshua Bengio (founder and scientific director of Mila - Quebec AI Institute), Stephen Toope (president and CEO, Canadian Institute for Advanced Research) and Joel Martin (chief digital research officer and chief science officer, National Research Council Canada).
