And ill add to that, what makes this even more unique and cool is the camera angle, its shot from the perspective as if you were an observer, watching Michael do it in real time, hence why we see the group of dancers before him but slightly blurred out with mike as the focus
One of the most impressive things about this performance is the cast. You can see that every cast member is a professional dancer, and at the end, when "the dance" happens, Michael is not out in front but in the center. The professional dancers and choreography are what carry this, much like old-school broadway classic dance numbers. The camera pans around and cuts to different views and angles of the dancefloor, but while the focus is on Michael he's never in the front. The choreography and the dancers and the cast are what make these numbers epic.
I got goosebumps when MJ did his iconic “Lean” Truly The Greatest Music Artist To Ever Live The King Of Music Forever Michael Joseph Jackson!🤩🙌🏽👑💙💕💫(And some folks mention you can’t understand what he’s saying it’s cause MJ had different styles of singing this vocal style is called “Staccato” singing within short phrases etc. Btw this Short Film/Music Video is like someone with OCD dream Lol MJ was super smooth,no matter what generation you’re from MJ’s music is timeless and expands across generations and MJ is very versatile the most versatile Music Artist tbh he’s done World Music,Pop,R&B,Hip Hop,Disco,Funk,Soul,Heavy Metal,Rock,Country,DubStep,Opera etc. he’s phenomenal and dominated the music industry from Childhood To Adulthood had his first Number 1 Hit song as a 14 Year Old child with “Ben” and sold over 100 Million copies before even having a solo career as the lead singer of the Jackson 5 nobody will ever surpass this man he truly was/is a savant true genius)
It's funny how we encounter this MJ die hard fans everywhere putting big comments, but you know? It's completely understandable. We are talking about the biggest music/dance artist of all time
Best choreographed music video ever...and such a brilliantly produced track! One of Quincey Jones' finest!! Saw MJ at Wembley mid 80's...and was a pivotal life changing moment!!
Award shows are ridiculous and have to do with industry politics behind the scenes...it wasn't always obvious but over time has become VERY obvious...hence why now many award show ratings are in the gutter.
I remember i used to play the Michael Jackson video game in the 7/11 store (back when they had arcade games) based off this video. One the best games I've ever played at the time.
So i can guarantee you most 40+ in the world right now, EVERY one of them was an MJ fan back then. And every one of them would of been shocked by that lean and trying to copy it for months and months. We finally learned the moonwalk but now there was this. But just look at the production. Look at literally everyone dancing even on balconies. To the newer generation back then MJ was almost mythical to us growing up. An idol to billions and such a great man. Much missed.
46 years old. MJ is my childhood. I've had a few accidents trying to do the lean. I think I was 10 or 11. I also had the Beat-It watch when Thriller came out and instantly made me popular in school while I had that watch :-)
I’d love for y’all to React to Michael Jackson “Blood On The Dance Floor” Short Film/Music Video or Michael Jackson “Stranger In Moscow” Short Film/Music Video
I’m not trying to be funny in anyway , but that song and video came out in 1987, I’m sure you were young, but how is it you’ve NEVER seen it? MJ was a global icon and even some little kids today know who he is and his iconic moves. Just wondering how you never saw it growing up? There were so many more music video shows in the late 80s and 90s . MTV, BET, VH1 were all in their prime in those days. Michael was also very much into old Hollywood movies of the 30s and 40s and this choreography and style of the video was inspired by one of his dance idols Fred Astaire.
This is taken from the "MOONWALKER" movie, it's not really an official video. It's one of my fav videos. Also Speed Demon is taken from the movie too. It all ties together
I don't know if anyone has heard of the song Blue gangster the song was created after michael jackson passed came out in 2015 its supposed to be part two of smooth criminal
This video was part of a short film called Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. MJ always did it big when it came to his projects. That lean was accomplished by shoes with slotted heals that slid onto some bolts on the floor that locked the shoes in place so they could lean past their center of balance. MJ had that design patented for those shoes.
Not many know this. Annie is a dummy from a CPR class he took. When doing CPR you ask if the person is okay. "Annie, are you okay?" so that's how this came to be
Speaking of gangs improbably mistaken on the numerology of the street but it's like 83rd Street or 82nd Street Crips are in almost all of Michael videos in one way or another. And there's a video of Michael doing the c walk which of my jaw Hit the Floor out of blew my mind seeing all that stuff
Michael actually got the concept to write this song from learning to do CPR and the name of the CPR doll is Annie and you had to say Annie are you okay before attempting to resuscitate.
Like watching a Kung Fu master that practiced for a thousand years in the mountains, attained enlightenment and fucking delivered his knowledge to the world. Genius. When I was a kid this guy and Bruce Lee made me believe in Super heroes. The guy was exceptional.
Hello you guys new follower really enjoy your video here grew up on Michael Jackson watch a lot of his music and dance videos asking will you guys react do Michael Jackson Speed Demon video and Michael Jackson's velocity velocity is really for the woman a woman made that video for other woman that can't get enough of Michael sex appeal but for the man it's just about the dancing😂 keep moving forward y'all much support
Awesome reaction, and one of the few to understand the slow down bit, to build it back up. Spike Lee did an amazing joint bad 25 doc. I don't want to ruin the information you're looking for. You can thank thank me later 😆
I know this will sound sacrilegious but hear me out. If you listen to a cover of this song…try the Glee version. It is one of the late Naya Rivera’s best vocals, yes…the guy singing with her is the CW Flash, and the musical accompaniment is perfection. It is different, but unlike other Glee covers, a worthy tribute
Grindmoldjoe and Indigolov, both said oooooooh, at the same time, when Michael did the (Gravity-Defying Tilt) 😆🤣😂👍 Off topic Indigolov sounds a little like, Miley Sirius when she talks!
I used to hate that sudden stop and the weird moaning section… but I came to appreciate almost the breathing space right before he kicks back in to the single greatest part of the video.
I have the entire cd box set with every single short movie and all his live concerts. Only 1 i didn't have was the this is it. Songs from mtv, 1978 has 33 cds. The Michael Jackson story and the 1st 97 songs from 1979 to 2008 cd. Love this box set. Ive only seen it online once for sale. I bought it while in Iraq in 2008.
Aconselho vocês a pensar antes de falar, as pessoas vão gostar muito mais de vocês. 😅❤ Vocês parecem muito vagos, não tendo nada a falar dos artistas que você reagem, somente sendo GENÉRICOS.
One of MJ's best videos. MJ was a big fan of Fred Astaire and if you watch Fred's video from his movie, "The Band Wagon", "Girl Hunt Ballet" video from that movie, you can see where MJ got some of his inspiration from.
A lot of folks thought that was camera tricks to make him do the lean, even I thought so myself. Until I watched the Dangerous Tour when it first aired on HBO back in the day, where he did the lean LIVE ON STAGE with his dancers!!! I lost my mind.
Bro big dog You Watching this video made u a little kid again. Your Smile is not of a man but child it's Amazing!!!! 😊 Your Nine again childhood happiness love it 😅
That was a pool stick chalk cube that MJ crushed into powder and blew it onto the guy who was playing. You missed the 2 white women who looked at each other with a look of disbelief and awe when MJ shot the man who was trying to kill him with a large knife. And you missed one of the male backup dancers doing a split and getting back up with his legs.
Just an observation..in the 5:05 minute of the video, Michael is blowing chalk dust used in pool cues, snooker on the man's face. Dust is the result of leftovers from the tips of the clubs or wooden sticks used at the table. Like a pencil sharpener, it helps the putter hit the balls on the table, cleaning and refining the tips of the putters. Michael DID NOT use or would be able to use references to inappropriate substances in his videos. He is like a magic human-super hero
MJ was influenced by a lot of great dancers before him but definitely made it his own. Fred Astaire was a fabulous dancer from the golden age of Hollywood and was also a friend of MJ. They lived in the same neighborhood when he was growing up. This video is a tribute to Fred Astaire who had passed away the year before. If it will let me, I'll post some comparisons videos in reply to this comment.
Someone made a video with clips from the 1953 movie Band Wagon starring Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse but replaced the original audio with Smooth Criminal. ruclips.net/video/3Q4H8kzekuY/видео.htmlsi=flpkUL2M_IyDL5_W
This clip is from the movie Blue Skies starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. It shows how talented Fred Astaire was. Someone replaced the original song Puttin on the Ritz with Smooth Criminal. ruclips.net/video/OeQ39Ad9vFA/видео.htmlsi=McJeBeYucuRL0bkc
One of the smoothest moves in the choreography for this short film is the stationary moonwalk. Just so clean.
And ill add to that, what makes this even more unique and cool is the camera angle, its shot from the perspective as if you were an observer, watching Michael do it in real time, hence why we see the group of dancers before him but slightly blurred out with mike as the focus
@@Bakesonline That is absolutely amazing
@@Rainbow.Pegacorn.Cosplay ;)
That move is criminally underrated

Wow, what a great reply! You have a lot of knowledge about Michael!
It's funny how we encounter this MJ die hard fans everywhere putting big comments, but you know? It's completely understandable. We are talking about the biggest music/dance artist of all time
“The greatest of all time” Michael Joseph Jackson🔥💯 nobody can come close to the greatness of the man known as The King Of Pop, Rest In Power king🙏🏼🕊
🙏💖😭⭐
Best performer and dancer I've ever seen. That lean was fire.
Best choreographed music video ever...and such a brilliantly produced track! One of Quincey Jones' finest!! Saw MJ at Wembley mid 80's...and was a pivotal life changing moment!!
No matter how many times I keep seeing this, I still love it. Smooth and awesome dance choreography. Awesome song. No one beats the king of pop.
The Legend MJ❤
the man, myth, legend MJ...this song is one of my faves...RIP King of Pop❤️
Right
Did you know that Michael Jackson is the greatest of all time!

The greatest to ever step foot on a stage. Forget everyone else. This is the man right here!!! 🌠✍️🏽🤍💙👑
The way he removed that lady's hand on his chest is the smoothest way ever
Yup
The king, the goat. Still don't believe that Smooth Criminal video lost out to Paula Abdul that year for the MTV best video of the year.
Award shows are ridiculous and have to do with industry politics behind the scenes...it wasn't always obvious but over time has become VERY obvious...hence why now many award show ratings are in the gutter.

he sang so good the captions couldn't even catch up with his singing
FOR MICHAEL, HE IS THE BEST. BUT EVERYBODY IN THE VIDEO DID A VERY BEAUTIFUL JOB.

I am 55. Started being a fan in 1981 when off the wall album came out
@@robynhurley5119it came out in 79 but was still popular in 81 because of the Triumph Tour with the Jacksons

After the MTV era, not many people were exposed to his music and videos. All they knew was what the tabloids printed
They say they have never heard it before, but I call BS. It's all for likes 😂
No the video was made in 86 but released when Mike was already on the bad tour
This is taken from the "MOONWALKER" movie, it's not really an official video. It's one of my fav videos. Also Speed Demon is taken from the movie too. It all ties together
Annie are you okay? Are you okay Annie?....such a beautiful music video - I think this is one of Michael's best music videos!
he's the most universal person ever
Thriller is the ICONIC video.
But Smooth Criminal is his GREATEST video!
Yep
I don't know if anyone has heard of the song Blue gangster the song was created after michael jackson passed came out in 2015 its supposed to be part two of smooth criminal
2009 and that song was made in the 2000s
I'm very happy that you two lot enjoyed this. Billie Jean is a better track, IMO, but this a better vid. Either way, both are great tracks.

What yall dont know is that club was deserted and covered in dust and cobwebs before MJ walked in and brought them back to life lol

This video is very muxh inspired by one of Fred Astaire movies, the dance, the suit, the gangster style.

Nobody dances like MJ
