I have this video to thank for getting me into Muse. I had only ever heard Madness from the Second Law album and assumed that’s what all their songs sounded like. Heard these riffs, listened to all their music, and now they’re my absolute favorite of all time.

What makes Muse very unique among the modern rock bands is its versatility & creativity in writing their guitar & bass lines. Many of their songs will have combination of many great elements like melodic or catchy guitar riff, tasty filler or guitar solo and some would have moments of breakdown-like heavy intro or outro. @Jacob Rennells Honestly I would put even Simulation Theory above Drones. I only care about The Handler and Reapers out of that album but I respect your opinion
Matt’s merit doesn’t lie in his technical ability, but in his creativity. His riffs are not complex, but they’re fun, emotional and catchy. Same goes with his bass lines. He’s far from being the best, but he knows how to blend genres, innovates with his guitars and effects, and is an excellent performer and entertainer. When you go to a Muse concert, you don’t expect perfection. You expect improvisation and general chaotic fun.
