Just wanted to say thank you for this video. I am at 75k with my STI and i keep modding it and tuning to where now my clutch gotta go and i need a better clutch suited for my car and daily driving. This video went over some important stuff i need to be thinking about and walked me through what to expect. You sir, have helped me dearly.
You are absolutely welcome my man. As a person that also turns to RUclips for advice on this stuff I want to be as helpful yet entertaining as possible. I appreciate the support
Does the clutch chatter ever go away? First gear from a Stop and reverse seem to be a little ruff. I was told that gets better over Time as you break in the clutch.
Lol I bought my car new and I'm also at 57k and the only reason I'm replacing the clutch is cause of the OEM transmission sleeve causing the throw out bearing chatter
From what I know, midway through 2018, the clutch components went from 230mm to 240mm. This kit is 240mm so if you have a 230mm OE clutch, you'll need the ACT flywheel or a 2019+ 240mm flywheel. 2015 won't work for example
@GearBocks if you have a tune on your car, rev hang can be tuned out. If you do lots of driving in a city or traffic, a lightened flywheel is a PITA. BUT I hear you.
Yes the noise you are hearing is totally normal due to the lighter flywheel. I was definitely freaking out at first but called my tuner and they insisted everything was good to go
I’m at 330 whp by drunkmann tuning and he told me to get act 6 puck clucth and it’s so aggressive but after driving couple day I get used to it and you can feel the difference and tq on top end 👿
Yes it is. It's definitely heavier than OEM but not to the point of being uncomfortable to drive. It will take a little bit to get used to it but a great clutch none the less

I just ordered this kit

Yes it definitely has gotten better. Still there but not as noticeable
@@GearBocks thanks for the quick response

Awesome video! You can still use the OEM flywheel with this clutch, though, right?
I am not 100% sure but I don't believe that is possible due to the ACT diameter being larger than OEM

@@PhorB13 that sounds about right. I would personally still opt for the upgraded flywheel to eliminate any and all rev hang

@@PhorB13 yeah I have it tuned out but I still love the quick RPM drops with a light flywheel
i just got the same thing, after install its making some noise, is that normal for you as well?
Yes the noise you are hearing is totally normal due to the lighter flywheel. I was definitely freaking out at first but called my tuner and they insisted everything was good to go
@@GearBocks thank goodness, sounded like my car was dying, was scared to drive it, but I’ll just give it some miles and hopefully it goes away 😅
@@rafaelmagana1478 yeah unfortunately that gear chatter won't go away but it is definitely normal/safe to drive!
Any recommendations for like 320 whp?
As far as the clutch or mods to get to that level? (My car is currently right at 320)
@@GearBocks oh ok I meant the clutch but act heavy duty street is good then

Is it a good daily clutch?
Yes it is. It's definitely heavier than OEM but not to the point of being uncomfortable to drive. It will take a little bit to get used to it but a great clutch none the less
