In the SkyArts Portrait Artist of the Year 2014 competition, Christian’s fearless and fresh approach to painting stood out from the start. His work, as the winner, with fellow boundary-breaker Alan Cumming made for the most thrilling and moving episode of the entire series by far. Christian’s prodigious talent is matched only by his energy and curiosity, as well as his drive to continue to push himself to new discoveries. I offer him my admiration and all my best wishes.

So well said Gatto Nero. It really was thrilling wasn't it, I was excited for him and because of him. In one way I felt bad for all the other very talented artists who have been on the show because he seemed to be the outstanding talent amongst all their talent, on any of the shows. He is truly brilliant. Having said that seeing his brilliance doesn't diminish their indivual and incredible talents; it just hi - lights his brilliance whilst amongst such other amazing artists.
His smiley personality, along with such determination to challenge himself and learn through every painting, is so endearing and engaging.
I was riveted to that commission episode of his, I hope its repeated soon.

Oh I did thankyou @Chris Barker. Apart from being a genius imo, and I'm not one to bandy that word around, he is soulful, insightful, thoughtful and giving and these qualities shine through his amazing work.
      This man blows my mind🤯

I don't know what it is about Christin Hook's work but the finished pieces actually make me weep. What an extraordinary talent but what an extraordinary man. He seems to have humility in his talent, perhaps because he knows its comes through him and not of him.

I am an artist in South America at the turning point in my work to abstract. I love painting portraits and have been soooooo inspired by your work which is so imaginative. You combine a rare mix of superb technique and mastery of the human representation. I will be following you on utube for sure and my portraits will take a new course from now on. Thank you so much Christian.

You inspire me Christian - come exhibit and paint in my country Aotearoa New Zealand land of the long white cloud and fiercely effulgent Māori peoples.
Great to hear support for Hummingbird Foundation Christian - Wonderful. It is your humanity that shines through your creativity and your personal attention to your environment and very human expression of human kindness.
I need a 6 x 1 hour long series of documentaries on this journey Christian...we can’t get enough. Blessings on your every creative adventure.

(6:49)... and NOW you know why India is back in the dark ages. The ineptitude of that framing was staggering. But then (8:35) you see that exquisite horse, painted on the plate (made of camel bone!?!?!) ... and it's just insanely beautiful and detailed.
    Christian is ... patience personified.
    What a profound journey.
Thank you for bringing to our awareness The Hummingbird Trust. (Earlier today I was telling my sister that my hummingbirds are vociferous ... the Anna Hummingbird that guards the feeder all day long never shuts up! ...And then I stumbled upon this wonderful video).

Awwww,, "ineptitude" indeed.. that's in one shop... one shop - where they have their own method of framing. India is a huge country, and I am an artist, who gets her paintings framed the "sophisticated" Western way!. As for "back in the dark ages".. Really? Generalisation of a huge country based on your experience in one shop in one city? Really?! What does that say about you, that you disrespect a country and its people while enjoying their hospita;ily, friendliness, and politeness - Which age does that put you in? Thanks for mentioning the "exquisite, insanely beautiful" traditional Rajasthani style.artwork.. Indian art, of every region is unique, and goes back, way way back.. to the "dark ages",, as you put it,
But it is wonderful how all of you care and are so generous about girls being trafficked in India, human trafficking is such a terrible crime happening world wide, isn't it?

Christian traveling the "Indian Way" is only part of the adventure to this unveiling and delivery. They say the process or means is better than the end and in this case fills the story with interesting quirks and curves. Still Christian delivers as always in quality and creativity in spite of it all. This video inspires me to write a novel... The very narrow corridor, the courtyard trees filling the ground with roots and the faces and process of haggling are priceless.

True! The audio was very bad, it was difficult to hear the people's voices. Thankfully my favourite piece of classical music was audible. 🎶🎵🎶The Hummingbird Trust is of vital importance, but it will have little success until the men who pay to have sex with these young girls don't understand what a horrific thing they are doing to these girls' bodies, and the laws are changed accordingly. As for Christian, his work is amazing. His eyes are like lasers when he studies his sitter and he captures the man behind the outside appearance. He is a very special man. 🤗
