  • There is a lot of meaning to this song. Most people have had a time in their life when they were stuck in some sort of a thought, mindset, illness, or other form of captivity where they weren't able to break out of it or perhaps were afraid to break out and be free, fearing that they'll have to live life differently or face the world differently. In Lindsey's case, she had a struggle in her life where for a long time she was being held captive by an eating disorder - which she referred to as Ed in her book. See her book on the Target website if you'd like. But at last, Ed has been shattered, and she is free now. For many of us, too, we had (or perhaps still have) some sort of a "shell" around us that kept us captive, but this song is meant to encourage you that you indeed can break free of whatever it is that's holding you captive: this shell can be shattered, and you can be free! The first step to achieving anything in life is to believe that you can!
