    I actually had the same problem but I fixed it this weekend by just replacing the battery module with one I bought on amazon. Note - when buying , search using the battery model number so you get the right one. I got one with slightly more storage capacity. Its working great as we speak. I was going to dispose of it after almost three years of it not working.

    I had the same problem with my Bose Mini. After being frustrated trying to reset it, I set it aside for a year. I then read a couple of online articles stating the problem was the battery. I took a chance an ordered a battery from Amazon for my mini. I installed the new battery and my mini returned to life. It now operates as good as new. Note. you must order the correct battery for your mini. Also note that it requires a Torx head driver to remove the screws. This too was purchased from Amazon.

    I have a soundlink mini II that will not hold a charge. I instantly considered putting in a new battery and found this video, but on the v2 the cable is soldered in. I would do it myself, but Bose will repair for $55 and they include a shipping label. This seems like the best option for everyone, even if you *can* do it yourself.

    The barrel plug jack on the side is for charging. A friend of mind gave me one like this. The battery measured 0.04 Volts, so we could call that dead! I took a chance to connect a 12 Volts power supply coming from an old router. The cradle is not necessary. I let it charge overnight. The next day, it turned on ! I have made a complete charge and discharge cycle and it kept the change for at least 8 hours. This is quite close to the original specs. Try to change it from this connector, maybe you will be as lucky as me!

    Seems like Bose can't make a BT speaker that will last more then a few years lol. There's allot of complaints about these speakers failing to power on. I have a cheap ass Anker BT speaker that's 4 years old. I gave it to my GF and she's still using it today. It may not sound anything like the Bose, but its still working.

      I've had my mini for almost 6 years and no problem, lately the battery is not giving me the same hours it Used to but that's normal on rechargeable batteries. Most likely I'll try to get a new battery before I try to buy a new mini since I'm so impressed with the forst generation mini.

      I have a mini that is five years old and still working fine when connected to outlet but the battery doesn't last as long as when new. As all LI-Lion battery they gradually lose the ability to hold a charge and need to be replaced.

    One-hand tool use is always a bit painful to watch :), but a very helpful disassembly video nonetheless. I just figured I might have to open mine as well, it needs some very analogue little bump from time to time lately, as it suddenly goes just silent. As I see, I'm rather lucky to not have any internal power issues, looks rather nasty to trace component failures. Btw: I like my T5 as well, but for digital stuff some much cheaper multimeter featuring 2 decimals of accuracy is vastly more useful.

  • @skinnyblinddude
    @skinnyblinddude Год назад

    I suspected a bad battery as well, but even so, shouldn't it operate via its charging attachment plugged into the mains. I have one of the original models, which is over five years old. Its original battery is still going strong. The problem these develop over time is that the LED indicators weaken and glow very dimly. Still, the SoundLink Mini produces pleasant audio at close range. At least we got to see its internals.

    I think they have some circuitry that doesn't charge the battery if it's too low or something. I have the same kind of problem with the newer model. A new battery would probably fix it. Or connecting it to a bench power supply to try to get it above the threshold.

  • @alfredoibarra9825
    @alfredoibarra9825 5 лет назад +12

    It’s a dead battery. It has been depleted usually after 2 years of use. I called Bose and they will send you a new battery replacement. This guy is a tool. To replace battery you simply lift bottom rubber and remove four star bit screws and unplug battery.

    • @alfredoibarra9825
      @alfredoibarra9825 5 лет назад

      The reason it won’t charge is because after it being depleted it will not accept a charge once a certain voltage is reached. It will also not work on ac plug because of bad battery.

    Good video mate ! Mine has stopped taking a charge, but it a Gen1 so not surprising (8 yrs old?) I can buy a replacement battery for 'only' $60 and now I have seen your video, I can see it's a snap to replace. But, if like yours, the problem is the circuit board, then it's a waste of money. The local Bose operations offer a guaranteed fix for $150. At first I thought it was too expensive. I can buy the brand new mark II for $300 ... but realistically its $90 more than buying the battery and that would cover replacing a board of whatever is required to get it going, so I think I'll go down the authorised rear path after all. It also includes a further 1 year of warranty after the repair, so that's not bad bang for buck I think. cheers

      No it is not, it has the drop resistant cover on it that you can buy from Bose, which unfortunately resembles some of the really obvious fakes. If you look at the charging dock plug on the bottom, you can see the four metal squares, and no pins. The fake has four pins instead. Also, the type of screw they used was torx, and the fake would probably use a normal Phillips head screw.
