Sheesh, I love the casual nature in which one of the designers talked about free-handing the gorgeous mural in the living room space. To be so talented that you can just whip that together from leftover pain. Wow, so beautiful and really makes the space seem so vibrant and cheerful.

I love the color and renter-friendly design. I love how you can still keep things clean and minimal, but with more color than the trendy whites greys and blacks. The painted panels were genius.

I usually like the black, white, grey and the wood accents...but I like what the did with the living room. The three ply boards magically separated the living took from the rest of the other areas.
I love how this apartment turned out and that you actually painted some of the features yourselves. Such a happy fun space and very well balanced and appointed. I'd only add one thing a textured diffused pull down shade like barrier mounted in the bedroom side of the bookcase for when you want privacy and not having guests actually looking into your bedroom. If the bookcase lit up against the background of that neutral tone textured shade it would be really beautiful and add dimension.

Urban Barn? They were given too much credit, and mercilessly plugged throughout the entire video. It was the decorators that did the damn thing! I am in absolute awe of the final result. I would've liked to have seen the space completely empty before the furniture was delivered. The ladies called it an "open concept" which is said in every single new home reno. "We removed all of the walls to create an open concept. You can see the space from the dinning room to the backyard." Later in the video they talk about the studio space being a loft with high ceilings. (They never showed the high ceilings.) Either way that was a fairly large apt! These ladies are so talented, especially "burnt persimmon". The faux painted wall on standard plywood, the baskets (which looked like wicker plates to me) she painted, and the purposeful black leather bench that works in all spaces. The decor in the entire space is just fantastic! There's color, texture, warmth, and style. I feel they could've done the same look with furniture from Goodwill. (Not sure if Canada has that charitable store.) LOVE IT! ALL OF IT!!!

I love this - it's a little more vibrant than my stye, but I think it looks fun and beautiful. If this wasn't a rental space (something someone owned), I like the idea of putting up stationary glass panels around the bed area and then installing track curtains to close it off...so it could be open and getting light, but you could enclose it at night if you want a more intimate space that feels more enclosed.
Oh that would be a great idea for an open concept loft!
