Matt actually played this song for me as a request in twitch when my dog had to be put down. I was devastated. Great band. Great group of guys. Keep up the trivium reaction videos!
The picture at 3:59 is coincidentally quite relevant as this song was written about the loss of Matt's (the vocalist) dog I believe.

Each verse in this track is different lyrically. The part that is repeating before the chorus is a pre-chorus which is often used as the delivery apparatus for the hook for a chorus. Food for thought🤘🏽

So you gonna do a whole list of Trivium??! Don't threaten ME with a good time! I think I drooled a little.
You are 100% correct in how much our own mindset and a million other factors will affect how we accept and or process new things. Some metal can be just noise (to me), people playing as fast as they can and as hard as they can. They can even be technically impressive as hell - but what does it for me is when they can make something beyond the noise and technicality. It's those bands who can give you the message, the emotion, cohesion in their technicality and speed... all of it. Thank god there are a surprising number of metal bands that actually check all those boxes. We aren't lacking in options (GET SOME!: Slipknot, Lacuna Coil, Jinjer, Gojira)... Trivium however is a band that, even within those criteria, seems to rise to the top in my mind.
Can't second the motion enough for a drum playthrough video of Alex. To be honest (and only 50% self serving) I think you'd get more out of a double header :D Hearing the song first then seeing the playthrough.

Trivium is by far my favorite band but you have to check out the Ukrainian band jinjer and the live session of Pisces. Seriously great band behind the singer but the singer is the show.

I like your perspective on the take on lyrical building for metal but it really isn't much different from rap what you heard for this song was a verse pre chorus, verse another pre-chorus then chorus most metal songs stay in the realm of what you're talkin about like intro first chorus second verse then another chorus than another verse 2 ending or another or just a repeat of a chorus
