And now that I think about it, there's an even worse part to this....Trunks had to be the one to tell Bulma that Gohan was dead. Bulma quite literally watched Gohan grow up, first meeting him as that sweet, shy, and innocent little four-year-old boy....and yet that same little boy she had watched grow up into such a brave and strong man was then taken from her and Bulma's own son had to be the one to find his body and break the news to Bulma herself.... I can only imagine the pain Bulma and Trunks felt on that one horrible rainy night.
The sheer humiliation of the last Z Warrior dying on a dirty puddle, completely alone, only surrounded by the destroyed humanity he swore and failed to protect. And not even later there is glory at all, just the gut-wrenching screams of a little boy who lost everything he had.

Of course, then you'd have the dilemma of wondering what Future Beerus would have done concerning Trunks & the Earth. I can see two possibilities: he either has Whis restore the Earth to it's previous condition as a "reward" for Trunks at least trying to save the Supreme Kai and stop Babidi & Dabura from killing the Supreme Kai....or he just notes the devastated condition of the Earth and destroys it as a "mercy".

Then just realizing how much pain Trunks must feel afterwards.. coming to the current timeline to see Gohan alive, is like a punch to the gut. His Gohan is gone gone. This is why I like Future Trunks, he's a character that holds the most pain out of every DB character. Just sucks that Super kinda ruined his character. Although I do like how they had Goku Black kill his mother right before him. Goku was someone Trunks always looked up to besides Gohan, only to watch that person kill the only person left that you had in your life, right before your eyes. Then, to literally lose everything after, that entire timeline. Hurts man.
@How-To-RC If I remember rightly, the journey would've taken far too long, and with Trunks being the last man standing, he would have refused to leave Earth undefended against the Androids... Same as Future Gohan's reason for not leaving to find them.
rip Akira-san. Thank you for all the entertainment you made, and thank you for your inspiration. even though this was an american track from an anime adaptation that took some liberties, in a show where death had no meaning, this hit the hardest. this was as close as Mufasa's death as you could get...and with it, was brought such grief. I can't think of a better tune to listen too to soak in but to honor such a man. he wasn't flawless, he made mistakes but, he made a tremendous IP.
@@GladiusThemesmad respect for featuring trunks' faulconer motif btw theres a pretty underrated motif that goes unnoticed by many from mark menza. his super saiyan motif, which you can see littered throughout his work on dragon ball (goku vs meta cooler, super saiyan trio, goku unlocking ssj4) im sure youre too busy for a full song request but itd be awesome to see that motif show up in one of your super saiyan related tracks, especially the ssj4 version as it never got a high quality rip or official release good work as always
Mr. Toriyama you created an amazing story that gave rise to so many talented people to draw inspiration from said story. Rest well and know that the world will never forget you. You will live on, immortal, in our hearts and minds.
What makes this so much more impactful is that in this ruined future there are no dragon balls no resurrections no second chances. Gohan truly was dead here no coming back (like real life) which is why I think future Trunks ssj transformation really hit much harder then all the others you can just feel the raw emotion, despair, sheer anger, and loss.
One of the few themes that can really make you feel true dispair. This was a dark part of DBZ, and I'm here for it. I remember seeing this as a kid and being completely thrown off guard. Surely Gohan.. Son of Goku could pull off the win just like they always did right? In disbelief, I watched Gohan die in the rain filled hole he rested in, the red lights blinking slowly in the background, and Trunks screaming in agony for his only friend. This was the PERFECT setup for the climactic destruction of the androids by Trunks in his timeline later on. I believe the Cell Saga was probably the best arc in all of the series because of this dynamic storytelling. RIP Akira--thanks for all the memories.
And so, with the passing of Son Gohan, the future of the Earth rests on the shoulders of the young warrior known as Trunks. Seeing the fallen body of his friend and mentor, changed him. Whatever innocence he had left was violently shattered. He knows in his heart, that failure means the end of humanity. And that must never come to pass. He is Earth’s last defender, the final Z-Fighter, the only hope for peace in his timeline.

Trunks will forever be my favorite character. And because of this moment, he became as one of the strongest half-sayians that go up to gohans scale. The pure emotion and anger his transformation was is similar to Goku seeing krillin dying because of freiza. Both scenes make me cry a bit of joy seeing such emotion used in power. Same with gohan too

Weird how Trunks didn't go SSJ3 from losing Bulma and instead had a delayed ssj2 Explosive rage transformation after goku and vegeta came to help
