as a perfectionist this really helped me realize that not everything can be perfect, mostly art. Art in my opinion (after this video) is supposed to be experimental.
I am a perfectionist as well. Some things I have done to prevent myself from obsessing over every line are timing myself with sketches/practice and not using an eraser like she does in the video. Sometimes I also complete an entire drawing with scribbles or loose charcoal.
1:13 years old and I have a crush and a lot to do Ty is to be done and I’m gonna do my own hair so I’m not going anywhere and I’m not going nowhere so I just wanna go somewhere else but I’m I’m gonna go somewhere and I’m not going back there I just don’t wanna go to school anymore and I’m gonna go back home to my family so I’m gonna be here and I’m not going home to go back home to do my own thing I just want my kids to go back home to go back and I want
I was in art block for 3 years, and was extremely unmotivated to draw and always compared my art. Know I’m trying my best to improve and make sure I’m enjoying my time doing art instead of comparing my art!
@@roib05 I completely understand how you feel, and honestly it sucks so much. Try your best to stay as focused on your art and try your best to use positive talk about your art! Good luck in your art classes!
Thank you so much for the tips! I’ve been getting back into drawing and have felt so bad for some reason, I think whenever I commit to drawing there’s a part of me that feels like I’m not good enough. I’m not good at the fundamentals, I’ve been drawing on and off since I was kid but never gave it a real chance, so my skills are skills that I don’t know where they originate from. Even my art style is from my on and off relationship from art, coming back to art has been both a surprise to see how my art has changed and a challenge. But your tips are super helpful, it eased the guilt and pressure I felt to do "better" somehow or somehow reach a certain point in my journey.
If you need help being less precious about your art, try using cheap materials! I recently got the cheapest sketchpad I could at Walmart because I was psyching myself out about "wasting" my watercolour and mixed media sketchbooks with bad sketches and doodles. The cheap paper helps me be less worried about wasting my materials on crap art and gets me to sketch more. From experience of not drawing for LONG periods of time, bad art is way better than no art.
Got to watch this early on Patreon, but just wanted to pop in to say that this is incredibly helpful, and ever since you mentioned line of action in a video forever ago, it’s been my go to resource for life drawing. It’s such a great tool for people who don’t have the funds/resources to go to in-person life drawing classes!
Thank you for this. I really needed this since I’ve just decided to try and pick up drawing again and have been really hard on myself (why I stopped in the first place). I’ll probably re-watch this a few times! 😂❤
take it easy on yourself like you would be to a friend!! that’s how i always try to think of it haha. it’s very easy to be our own worst critic but try seeing it like a bestie would and just enjoy the process 💕
I’ve found myself in a tricky spot with art. I don’t feel I have the time to improve my art. Part of it’s my health going downhill very badly. The other is a disabled dog that my husbands grandma gaslit us into taking because it’s blind+deaf+old as dirt 😞 she didn’t really consider how hard it would be to care for a dog like that while I myself am severely sick and about to be in the hospital… I feel guilty for not liking this dog, but it’s been having a negative effect on me, I can’t manage my own sickness with this dogs sickness and still start a business while handling medical debt it’s just got my mental pushed to a brink, but my husband won’t sent it back because he feels obliged to take care of it for his grandma
What I do is set challenges, so like if I’m playing a game I challenge myself into drawing a character when there speaking , and if it’s an Rpg game then there fighting poses
Thank you so much for another fab video. I’m having so much fun in my sketchbook that I’ve just started and very much like you I’m literally throwing every single art supply at it. I am definitely going to try the life drawing classes and also the timed sketches. Thank you for the inspiration ☺️

I just discovered you thanks to this video. Your artwork is beautiful! I love the advice you give to artists 💖 This is definitely something I'm trying to work on this year. I turn 30 in 12 days (😭💔) and I really wanna improve on my art this year.
Thank you for these tips Pypah! I really appreciate your comment near the end of the video with comparing yourself to others. That's something that I do so much, so you reminding everyone not to to so is very helpful. 🥰
Thank you this video helped me see things i couldn't notice about my own art and the tips really helped my art. My art also improved a lot because of this video
Hey at first when I started to see ur vdos I thought art ain't my thing I can't do this I have no talent in it. But! I became a good drawer (only a good one, not a perfect) ur tutorials are the best. I just developed a style of mine. I am really thankful to u🦋❤️😊
I dried so much and I been studying for a while and it going good and I am good at drawing thank you I finally never jealous of any other person art you supported me thank you🙏💔💔💔
Ahh I appreciate you mentioning experimenting with different materials. I just started art (at 24) and I currently have so many different supplies. I keep getting the tip to just focus on one thing but that doesn't make me as happy as using ALL the things. 🥰❤️
yeah it’s so fun!! especially when you have a little bit of everything and want to see how they all interact with each other 😍 kind of like the charm of those subscription mystery art supply boxes you can get!
THANK YOU!!!! The video that I needed!!! Plus line of action is an AMAZING tool that I forgot about over the years! Thank you for being that reminder. Very well put together video❤️
i really need to draw more from life, and thankfully the weather has been really nice for this time of year, so i should draw outside more too, lots of old stuff to draw in the area and there is a play park that would make for some good action figure drawings
There's an competition for teenagers in my region (people from 12-26 can join) you can do ANYTHING, music, a video, craft sth, draw, paint. And you have to think of something to do yourself. I am painting, I am better at drawing than painting, but I'm up for a good challange.
I love this video, Pypah, it is a great reminder of simple ways we can all create art everyday that will improve our skills. I particularly like the last tip, to try different materials, this always helps me stay motivated to keep creating. Thanks so much for sharing! ❤
Just found your channel and I find it delightful to watch. I am restarting my illustration skill so your tips are certainly helpful, I'm looking forward to your next vids ☺️ subscribed!
I seriously have to stop giving up on my drawings because if it’s one thing experienced artists have always said is that it’s all about practice so thank you for this i hope it keeps me motivated as i’m now getting back into art after yearsss
I love this so much! I watched this for the first time when it had first been released and took these tips into account, overall I have been able to improve greatly in my charcoal artwork. Due to me being a perfectionist and a charcoal artists I tend to have difficulties with understanding color theory. By any chance could you do a color theory video? Like... tips on understanding lighting (perspective)? Overall love the work you do and your art style is amazing!
This was such a nice and informative video! Gonna try and use these tips in my art journey! ♡ Also, I absolutely love your observational drawings from life!!
Thank you so much for the website I am thankful, I need some resources I could use as an artist to work on my art skills. I was thinking of doing more art so I can make a habit of making art, and create a portfolio for work or art university someday.
I just want to put something out there she said tracing is never okay but I think you should approach learning like a child would and children do trace! Just never put it out there as your original work but it’s good practice to get used to shape of things
that’s exactly what i said in the video! it’s okay to copy other people’s work and study them but never post them! use them for learning and not for sharing as it is not your original artwork ✨
Good helpful tips! Aaaa that moving people thing is so hard to capture. Maybe pens are truly better for drawing people live, I'd have to try that tip. Thanks!
yeah i think it helps a lot since you have to commit to lines very fast and move onto the next detail. they force you to be expressive and quick gestured!
that was very inspiring, thank you 💜 I want to get back to sketching with ballpoint pens, as my analysis paralysis is crawling back on me again. I like my few alcohol markers very much, but recently I bought a bunch of wax-based coloring pencils to learn to use them as well. it was very disheartening at first that I had to work on a piece for days with them, but now I want to mix mediums and get back to them.
