Here are some quotes my teachers have said that really stuck with me, because they can also apply to this and give other artists some motivation as well!! "You can't make something out of nothing, but you can make everything out of something." "You don't have to know where to start, you just need to start with what you know."
Tip for fighting art block, an artist's worst nightmare : today I went shopping with my mom and sister for the first time in a while (Of course we were wearing a mask and social distancing.) And I saw a bunch of pretty sandals and it made me feel inspired. When got home I looked on Pinterest for an outfit that could match, and I started sketching. Moral of the story: if you feel uninspired, get out of your house and go somewhere. It can be your backyard, a shopping center, a library, a family/friend's house, etc. And you might get inspired to draw again.
I went to an animal shelter today with my grandma we were looking for our stolen puppy but while I was there I saw families of puppies it was adorable I really feel like drawings dogs and people now so yeah it's true get outdoors and look at nature it helps!

here is what my friend Amy said to me yesterday: “if you can draw people, draw animals. if you can’t draw animals, draw scenery. if you can draw scenery, JUST DRAW SOMETHING”
There was a specific thing I wanted to draw but I didnt want it to look bad. When I heard you say "draw any fun thing you're thinking about like a shark with freckles. Draw it" it make me realize that I should do that. I had a specific idea but was limited because of how exactly I wanted it to look. But I decided to add whatever I was thinking and it looks so good
I have been in such a bad art block lately. Like, lowkey crying because I found creating anything miserable. This has inspired me to perhaps start drawing my stuffed animals, they’re simple shapes and most are bright, fun colors. Not something I usually draw, and it’ll be neat to mix up what supplies I use. Thank you for this video, really is a lifesaver!
I have been a silent watcher for a while now. But now, I must admit that this is one encouraging (motivation to draw), relaxing and comforting art channel I have come across. Rin has a very sweet voice. The way she talks and expresses herself through hand movements is lovely. Her art style is just as lovely. I can say that you have helped me feel better through some rough days. Thank you Rin! And keep it up! ❤

Usually what i do is kind of like the “reference but abstract” where i go to Pinterest, find something i like, and try to recreate it but in my own style or add things like “ohh this needs some piercings” or “ohh this might look better with some flowers” ya know? Another thing is where i find something i cant draw well and practice on it, maybe i cant draw a specific pose right, then i take that pose and practice with it until i can get it right but if i cant, i just go back to the first tip and add my own mix. Hope this helps!

Any artist can get art block, no matter what kind of art they practice. I've got this quote from the Ba Da Bean episode "Blocked", about York telling the main character how to deal with art block: "Don't fight the block, just *be* the Block, dude. You know, having some leisure is part of the artist's life. It took me years to figure that out, it's a tough lesson for dedicated people like us. There's nothing that brings me more joy than a Waffles upload. (But also as someone with art block right now, this spoke to me. Pulling out my big supplies now!)
Another fun little idea: get a pen, marker, fineliner, whatever you can't just erase and draw some scribbles on the page and try to make something out of them, maybe you'll get an idea for a drawing and even if not - it's still a fun creativity exercise
I like to do this with friends. Everyone draws some squiggles on a page and you trade papers. Then try to turn their squiggle into something. I've seen people do this with their kids. (I used to have my creative writing students do something similar. Each person writes one sentence and then passes it to someone who adds to it.)
I stopped watching your videos for a while, then I started saying random things. . . And one stuck with me "I like waffles" And it took me a while to realize what it was sticking to me for. Your videos. Ever since I started watching your videos again, I started feeling more creative, I wanted to thank you for that. 💕
@@drawingwiffwaffles I stopped watching ur vids for years but then u popped up in my recommendations and I recognised u and ur content is still as amazing as ever-
This actually helped me a lot! I never really thought about it but whenever I draw I always have this expectation that it has to be good, and when it looks bad I get discouraged. Just drawing for the sake of having fun and not worrying about the outcome is so freeing, and makes it feel that much better when it does actually come out nice! I've also been weirdly apprehensive about what art supplies I use in my sketchbooks, but you convinced me to try out new ones and I'm so glad I did! Thank you, your videos always cheer me up!
Ah so that's the pandemic everyone's talking about: *art block* Symptoms include: - blank/ripped/tear stained pages - never ending procrastination - binging art videos But now we have the cure... this video ✨
I've been going through a little bit of art block myself, not that I didn't want to draw, but I simply didn't have that burning feeling to grab my sketchbook. This video reminded me to draw for myself because it should bring me joy. My sketchbook can be as ugly as I want it to be, no one has to see it!
It's interesting, I just got ahold of an art supply the other day that I had been wanting to try out for quite a while. I hadn't really drawn in a bit, but just starting and drawing a frog (I really enjoy drawing frogs) was enough to keep me drawing for the next few days. Progressively it became more and more something I began to enjoy again.
this video really made me cry. I used to enjoy so much drawing, but with time, I started to take it to seriously at the point where I wanted to make it perfect and the way I liked at the first try. Her passion for art really got me, the fact of how much she wants to help us, means a lot to me. I'm going to start my journey again, but this time with her in mind. Thank you. My english isn´t that good, apologies.
“That doesn’t make you a bad artist. You can’t know a thing you don’t know.” Woah… It’s like a whole new world has been opened up to me. I can’t even describe how much this really changed my perspective. I’ve been drawing for years, why has this only now been made aware to myself? I think I have had this idea that i have to be good at everything and know how to do everything. It’s the perfectionist in me, y’know? But actually having it be said out loud that, that doesn’t have to be the case, is really inspiring.
You are the most amazing person in the world 💗 - supportive - inspiring - teacher - worlds best artist - my drawing buddy I'm really looking forward to seeing more video's like this Thank you Rin 🙏❤️

I DID THIS IN ART CLASS!!! we did abstract paintings, and there were options to use combs, brushes, sponges, stamps, literally anything that comes to mind. If you want to try that, i recommend it! it helped me get out of my art block and its so fun.
Literally a few days ago I was trying to draw sharks! You actually helped give me some insight on them! I will totally come back and refer to this video when I get art block! 😄✏️
One of my favorite things to do is like take a piece of artwork and then make a story with that artwork and like many different ideas will come from the story they kind of just support each other
I haven't been drawing for a really long time because i didn't have time, and i was sad, so when i finally came back to drawing, i found that i had some really art block. But this definitely helped!
I've been having the worst art block that I've had in a while (literally feel like my hands don't work or something lol) so this is fantastic timing! Thank you so much for this video!!! 💕

me: trying to draw like drawing wiff waffles me: just can't it's terrible me: art block rin: how to crush an art block me: perfect! but how does she draw bodies😭??
Start with a wide-topped rectangle for the torso, add a square for the head, and go from there. That's how she do. Just let the pencil go where it will for the arms, unless you have a specific idea for a pose, but maybe since you're doing it as a first try, copy one of her poses.
As a writer (and a artist whenever ive got nothing better to do) I can tell you I do most the stuff in this video mostly when I have writers block half way through my chapters of the books I write on wattpad
Who NEEDS a tutorial on how to draw different body types, faces, hair, SHOES ( cause I suck at drawing shoes) hair accessories, stuff we can add to make our character more unique and detailed.. I might not need it but many people are out there wanting these
Maybe we can try to comment this in the next video? It's more likely to be seen by her, so if you see my comment maybe you can like it so that she can see it

I used to watch your videos when i was younger so watching them again brings me back to the day where i could carelessly draw and be happy. 💕 thank you for your hard work.
I would highly recommend Wreck this Journal for art block or just in general. Really allows you to let go and just be creative. That’s how I got over a lot of my art fears.

It's so fun and it not only makes the first thing look SUPER derpy, it also makes it feel like you've improved SO MUCH in such a short amount of time haha. Technically you have, but really you just went from doodling in imaginary thing, then drafting an actual image from another image, if that makes sense. Either way

This year I got into a new fandom and I actually drew so damn much (after months of just sporadically drawing something that *had* to be perfect & of course wasn't 'cuz I drew like once or twice a month) because I really like this one character and somehow my entire sketchbook is 90% just this one dude wearing fun clothes like crop tops and sleeveless turtlenecks xD

This was so helpful! Thank you!
@@kymber1yy Glad I could help!! ♥
I like to do this with friends. Everyone draws some squiggles on a page and you trade papers. Then try to turn their squiggle into something. I've seen people do this with their kids. (I used to have my creative writing students do something similar. Each person writes one sentence and then passes it to someone who adds to it.)
@@SarahBethMac I did that with my mum! We called it Squiggles (Very creative I know) and it was my favourite game as a kid :D
I stopped watching your videos for a while, then I started saying random things. . . And one stuck with me "I like waffles" And it took me a while to realize what it was sticking to me for. Your videos. Ever since I started watching your videos again, I started feeling more creative, I wanted to thank you for that. 💕
I'm glad the wonderful tasty pastry brought you back and helped you recapture your love for art. Funny how things work out. hehe 💜
@@drawingwiffwaffles I stopped watching ur vids for years but then u popped up in my recommendations and I recognised u and ur content is still as amazing as ever-
@@drawingwiffwaffles Rin: And I hope you have a delicious evening full of waffles."
Me: "Mom, can I make waffles for supper tonight?"
I am so happy that you got to see this, I love how you support us down in the comments, you're a great person! Keep the good vibes around rin
Your art is so amazing, it should be in a disney short film! I'm not kidding your art style is so bubbly and friendly! :)
Ah so that's the pandemic everyone's talking about: *art block*
Symptoms include:
- blank/ripped/tear stained pages
- never ending procrastination
- binging art videos
But now we have the cure... this video ✨
Haha! That's an artsy pandemic nowz
Hope rin sees this
Thank you Rin for the cure
Those symptoms are so accurate :0
Relatable. 💜
You can’t know a thing you don’t know.”
Woah… It’s like a whole new world has been opened up to me.
You are the most amazing person in the world 💗
- supportive
- inspiring
- teacher
- worlds best artist
- my drawing buddy
I'm really looking forward to seeing more video's like this
Thank you Rin 🙏❤️
thank you! 💜💜
Your my idol. Your welcome
@Kiersten Freeman I just subscribed hope your channel grows, never give up! ALWAYS the first videos are bad. I'm wishing you the best of luck and when the comments will be on I will always comment something to get you motivated lol 😜 😊 Also the profile of your is stunning meantime I have my cat as mine but I'm planning to draw myself and set it as my profile ☺️
Your art is amazing 😍
"And any fine-toothed comb!" I am now fighting off art block by painting with a comb!
If it’s fun carry on cause it’s clearly getting you somewhere 🤣✨
@@The.Alystrator.X yeah your clearly going somewhere-
SMART!
I DID THIS IN ART CLASS!!! we did abstract paintings, and there were options to use combs, brushes, sponges, stamps, literally anything that comes to mind. If you want to try that, i recommend it! it helped me get out of my art block and its so fun.
@@piperann9973 That's so fun!!
*Draw something that doesn’t really look like anything, but could look like everything- dRaW tHaT*
I’m only two minutes in, but I already can’t stop laughing 😂
Same😂
me: trying to draw like drawing wiff waffles
me: just can't it's terrible
me: art block
rin: how to crush an art block
me: perfect! but how does she draw bodies😭??
Start with a wide-topped rectangle for the torso, add a square for the head, and go from there. That's how she do. Just let the pencil go where it will for the arms, unless you have a specific idea for a pose, but maybe since you're doing it as a first try, copy one of her poses.
@@BigGrabowski Thank you soo much
@@BigGrabowski thank you I'll try that
As a writer (and a artist whenever ive got nothing better to do) I can tell you I do most the stuff in this video
mostly when I have writers block half way through my chapters of the books I write on wattpad
I'm very late to this but about 2 years ago this video inspired me to draw an entire page of snakes that I still love to this day so thanks Rin
Who else wants a blub fish plush?
random but me-
Waffles is somehow bob Ross, and Marie mondo at the same time. “The joy of drawing” “hopefully this sparked joy”

Who NEEDS a tutorial on how to draw different body types, faces, hair, SHOES ( cause I suck at drawing shoes) hair accessories, stuff we can add to make our character more unique and detailed..
I might not need it but many people are out there wanting these
I do!
Maybe we can try to comment this in the next video? It's more likely to be seen by her, so if you see my comment maybe you can like it so that she can see it
She has all of these already
currently 1 minute and 1 second into the video and i’m already feeling an overwhelming urge to create something?? It’s INSANE how much you inspire me! Thank you for your videos, they always save me when i’m down in the dumps, creatively and/or mentally
I got a big art block because of school. Being pressured to produce art made me resent it in a way i guess? Ever since i started watching your videos again i draw a lot more and it makes me so happy. I used to watch your videos when i was younger so watching them again brings me back to the day where i could carelessly draw and be happy. 💕 thank you for your hard work.
the timing of this video-
*is just so perfect* ✨
exactly sage
hope its helpful! 💜
I would highly recommend Wreck this Journal for art block or just in general. Really allows you to let go and just be creative. That’s how I got over a lot of my art fears.
Thank you so much for this, I’ve just started art school and don’t get me wrong I LOVE it, but I’ve been struggling with drawing for myself. This is perfect and I’m actually excited to get out my sketchbook later 💕💕
thanks waffles :) I’ve been struggling to draw for two years even though I’ve been drawing all my life. I’ve been rediscovering your content, and all ur little videos are very fun, encouraging, and inspiring in their simplicity. love u, babe.
This was pretty helpful, I had art block for 6 months and that’s really bad. I started my career but I’ve strayed away from what makes me happy which is my art. Thanks a bunch.
I haven't drawn in AGGEESSS because of school, so now thats its over......you're here to save my life
I will save this vid and ALWAYS WATCH IT when I have artblock
this completely and 100% nailed it and everything that I have been struggling to figure out
I have watched dozens of art block videos throughout the years and this is the only one that has actually helped. Thank you so much
god i love your bright and fun and bubbly personality sm it gives me A LOT of happiness. oh and also ty for this video it helped me a lot and now i'm having fun in my lil castle where im the king
I HAVE HAD SOME BAAD ART BLOCK FOR A WHILE NOW * cries *
I really think this will help now and in the future :D thanks!!
I started drawing a thing I've never drawn, then the real thing awhile ago, because of you Waffles, and I freaking love doing that. It's so fun and it not only makes the first thing look SUPER derpy, it also makes it feel like you've improved SO MUCH in such a short amount of time haha. Technically you have, but really you just went from doodling in imaginary thing, then drafting an actual image from another image, if that makes sense. Either way
HOW DID YOU KNOW I NEED THIS VIDEO?? WHO ELSE?? Just about to watch it tysm tysmmmm!!! 😌😌 2:37 this is so true- whenever I scribble something it looks ugly but if I look closely I can sometimes actually see some beauty in it!
this video made me cry (in a good way) thank you so much for existing rin!
I love how you save the day by not giving up!!! Don’t give up!!! I can’t give up!!!! It’s fun and it’s not so serious... thank you... I needed this!!!!
This makes me want to draw in the middle of the night😐😐
Same, best time for me to draw tbh :D
Ikr?
Then it's working lol
Do it! Get a flashlight and make fort to turn into your drawing area! Or just turn on the light! 😅
@@koyaTHEEkoala you know what, I might do that tonight, thank you 😆
This year I got into a new fandom and I actually drew so damn much (after months of just sporadically drawing something that *had* to be perfect & of course wasn't 'cuz I drew like once or twice a month) because I really like this one character and somehow my entire sketchbook is 90% just this one dude wearing fun clothes like crop tops and sleeveless turtlenecks xD
the pink lead pencil means the world to me, i need it D:
sometimes i look back at REALLLYYYY old ocs, some that ive forgotten about and found again, i think of how i can redesign them and it really helps me
I'm a beginner artist and this has given me so much inspiration. I've seen a couple of your videos. You aren't like any other artist youtuber. You make things very understandable and easy. I also feel more inspired to draw, unlike when I watch other artists. Finally someone who I can watch draw without getting unmotivated! Might not seem like a lot, but you're someone worth subscribing to. :)
I cant explain in words how much I love Waffles art 💜💜
I love your intro with the waffle, how did you make it?
My brother made it for me using Blender and my logo! 💜
@@drawingwiffwaffles Man, I wish my brothers were into stuff like that. Guess I'll have to make my own when the time comes.😂 They already make frames for me so... I don't know if I could bring myself to ask for more...😂
Goshh I just love looking at your thumbnails they’re so colourful :> ✨💕 A thing that’s been helping me lately is switching the art supplies i use often! One day it’ll be coloured pencils or markers, then a few days later I’ll get out my gouache paints (they’re fun I have two sketchbooks, one to keep all pretty and finished in coloured pencil, and my recent one to just do anything in, it’s been such a help to have a random doodle place to loosen up a lil ✨💕
Those are some great tips! *-* Thanks for sharing! :))

The thing that’s been on my mind all this time is how does everything u draw and do turns out to be perfect lol I-
Just imagine you're talking to her face to face and she's doing all those weird hand gestures I-😂
Lmao 😂😂
I used to watch you literally all the time like 2 years ago.. I guess i just drifted from any sort of drawing vids and many other channels, and i was bored rn so i came to RUclips, saw you on my recommended. Watched your video. And became UNBORED quickly. I just got straight to drawing and watched all your recent vids. Two years and i still need you😅
thank you for caring enough to make this video, waffles! you are by far the best art RUclips out there! ilysm!
Task failed successfully: i cried cause i couldnt think of what to draw, saw a worm on a string on my shelf, and started compulsivly drawing worm of a strings, i had to come back five videos in my history to comment this because thats how long i was drawing them for
This really helps me so much 💕💕

I was having a really bad day, Back spasms along with wrist pain, and I have been in a 2 month art block, then this video pops up. Though I can't exactly move my wrist a whole lot, drawing the fun shapes actually managed to ease my mind and wrist, so I thank you for that. Art really can be therapeutic sometimes.
I been watching this video several times when I feel a bit down and low and it keeps helping, so much positive energy, giggles and natural - thank you so much Rin!!!
Not me taking notes from this video 🧑🦯
Every time I have art block I just draw an eye. I feel like everyone should try to have that go-to drawing that in case they don’t know what to draw but want to draw nonetheless.
Ngl I wanna do this even without art block 😂
I like drawing in new art styles or a new technique that always helps me
I've been stuck in a severe creative freeze to a point where I want to draw or paint so bad but I get anxiety touching my supplies. This video helped sooooo much, I'm so glad I came across your channel Waffles.
