    You are my knit-saver! As a beginner knitter, it's hard for me to understand and follow other tut's because of all of the undefined jargon... on top of that, most don't even cover the over-hand knitting technique; so when my projects fell off my needle I panicked... badly, and just started over regardless of where I was in progress... but after seeing your video, I finally understand how to fix it!

    Thank you for making something that felt so hard, quite simple. I wrecked the strand of yarn trying so many ways to reset the one stitch that came off. After finally finding your RUclips solution, it’s still acceptable. Again, thanks.

    Thanks! Too late now but guess I should’ve googled my problem before undoing the entire practice swatch. Just fixed my new practice swatch. Thanks again! Btw your voice is very relaxing and soothing, works well for a newbie getting stressed about her stitches falling off.😊

      Your advice is very good and I should take it, but I would be way too impatient to practice on a swatch :-p . I hate even having to rip out a row or two, because it takes me so long to knit them in the first place. Thanks again.

    Your video was so helpful. When I drop a stitch I always get so nervous on how to repair it. I'm going to take your advice, put my project aside, and practice on a swatch. I'm learning how to knit on double point needles. Am just about to finish a knitted prosthesis for mastectomy, but dropped a stitch ... wish me good luck. Thank you.

    I might have written this already but you've done a fabulous job showing and explaining these problems!! I'd been thinking I should do a swatch to try and fix things that have happened or that make me so nervous I'll end up doing on a "real" project so that I don't get ill if it happens to the project. I have a hard time when binding off to keep the stitch on which I'm passing over with the other loop from dropping off. Much smarter to try and do it and practice fixing it on a swatch! Thanks!

    If I take my active stitches off needle and put them back on, I can’t tell if they are backwards etc. I’ve watched videos on it, but don’t completely comprehend.

    • @yarniashop
      @yarniashop  4 года назад

      knit several rows of 10 stitches. Now look at the front leg of the loop on your needle. See if it is closer or further away from the end of the needle than the back leg of the loop that is on the needle. Now purl a row and turn the work. Look at how your stitches are mounted. Note whether they are mounted the same as your knit stitch or different. If you take your active stitches off, most knitters will find that getting them mounted back on the same way gets them the fabric they want. I haven't made a video and posted one in awhile but I will try to make one to answer your question or you could research "stitch mount" . There was a whole book on this subject that is out of print by Anna Zilboorg called Knitting Anarchy.
      I knit either english or continental (german) style. Some knitters are combination style or eastern european and their may be more. How you knit it is usually based on who taught you. Most published patterns are based on people having the stitches mounted open with the front leg forward whether you knit or purled on the previous row. If you wrap your yarn around the needle counter clockwise for knit stitches and clockwise for purl stitches you will change the mount presentation. I typically wrap my yarn counterclockwise for every stitch unless I'm doing something experimental. English or continental knitters just knit their work, other style of knitters knit and purl based on the mounting of their work and how they want it to look. I have taught many a knitter and I do not make them all knit the same. I loved Anna's book as a teacher because I think understanding the architecture of the knit stitch is very freeing to understanding what you are doing.
