This is a lifesaver. I never have a hook with me so I taught myself to fix stitches with the needles. Not to brag, but I once managed to fix a wrong *cable* three rows down, in a moving train, with only my knitting needles (ok, i might totally be bragging)!
This is how I learned to pick up stitches 60+ years ago when I learned to knit. I watch your tutorials because you do such a great job explaining and demonstrating what you are presenting. I know how lucky knitters who are just beginning are who find your videos . Keep up the great work.
I have just found your channel. I so love it. The tips and other videos. All useful information. Not just talking about yarns and patterns for hours. Great job. Thank you.
When I initially learned to knit as a child I used a crochet hook to manage dropped stitches. Then I moved to the technique you just demonstrated. It’s really easy. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent demonstration especially the purl pick ups. I still gravitate towards using a hook especially when there's lots of stitches on the needles or if I'm fixing lace (or brioche) 🤭
This is great! I usually use a crochet hook too but I'm knitting socks now and I don't have a small enough crochet hook to pick up a stitch if dropped. This was so helpful - thank you!
thanks for the tutorial I didn't think I needed lol tell me why I always picked up stitches with the left needle, picking it up with the right needle is so much simpler!
That’s exactly how I do it without a tool. When I use a tool I like the Susan bates fix it tool because there’s a point end on the opposite side of the crochet hook. It’s better than a plain crochet hook
I have been taking out whole rows to fix a dropped stitch. Now thanks to you I won't have to. You said to ask for something and you will make a video. Here is my problem...I have just learned to do the ladder stitch to finish off a sweater. They only showed how to do it from cast on to bind off. My sweater is made neck down so I am starting from bind off to cast on. Also my sweater has the garter stitch, reverse stockinette stitch, and stockinette stitches, That is all in a row for front and back, Can you please help me? Thank you in advance.
Hi! I unfortunately can’t make a video for every request… though I do very much appreciate video ideas and will try to make commonly requested videos. But I’m afraid I won’t be of much use to you as it sounds like you’re seaming a sweater that was knit in pieces? I’ve never seamed a sweater before. It’s on my list of goals for the year though 😊
What if you drop a stitch and dont realise till your 10 rows up and you can't fix it the way you are saying i have a stitch marker hold the dropped stitch but i dont know what to do now

I saw the title and thought, oh I know how to do that with with a crochet hook.
Caleb proceeds to say “without a crochet hook” and I’m hooked!
You are a genius!!!! You just helped me fix a dropped stitch so easily. I have been ripping out, but not anymore- THANK YOU!!!!!
This was soooo helpful!!!!! Thank you so much! I like this better than a crochet hook
I'm so glad it was helpful! You're welcome!

Your explanations and close ups are so clear. Thanks
Thank you. That was way easier than the way I was doing it.

I love the way you take the mystery out of these simple but infinitely useful techniques. Thanks!
You are so welcome! 💚
Definitely good to know! Especially for me when working with fingering because I don't own hooks small enough
Oh, I'm glad you found it helpful! 🙂
Enjoyed it! Thanks Caleb.. nicely done.🤗👏👏👏💐
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
thanks for the tutorial I didn't think I needed lol

You’re welcome 😊
Thank you so much ,i try this next time when needed👍
Most welcome 😊
Thank you for the tip. I will definitely try it.
You’re welcome 😊
Great video! This is also exactly how I fix my stitches. It’s good to know both ways to do it (knit and purl), especially when working in garter!
Thank you! And I agree... I like to know as many techniques as possible so I can pick the best one for the problem at hand :-)
SUPER useful!
Glad it was helpful! 🙂
Thanks!
No problem! 😊
That looks easier than using a crochet hook.
It's nice to not need the extra tools and it is fairly simple! I do keep the crochet hook handy if I notice problems further down though :-)

I should look that tool up! Thanks!

Do you have a way to fix dropped garter stitch with and without a crochet hook?
👍

You can fix it with a crochet hook. There are lots of great tutorials on RUclips. Check out @verypinkknits.
Awesome thank you
This was so useful! Thank you so much.
Thank you 🙏
