Nick Campling of G7th Capos recently contacted us and asked us to check out this new capo they created. Upon first look, it looks like the classic G7th capo...however it's not. This is their new Performance 3 Capo.
This capo includes the adaptive radius technology that is employed in their heritage capo design. The radius technology is an adjustable pad that adapts to the radius of your fretboard.
After using it for about two months, I am way impressed with it! I think this is a Swiss army knife of capos. This capo creates a buzz-free playing experience. I am typically leery if a capo claims to work great on everything, but I can tell you - this capo works great on EVERYTHING! They have done a wonderful job in designing it. I think this is a great one size fits all capo!
The G7th Performance 3 Capo was featured in Acoustic Tuesday Episode #76 along with many more guitar geek discoveries.
The people at G7 truly stand behind their product. I had one that was jammed in the closed position- I contacted the company and they mailed me a brand new one, no charge, no questions asked. This alone makes this company worth doing business with. They have a quality product and they stand behind it. Two thumbs up from me👍👍
Good to know
Same here!
Your delight in seeing your quote on the packaging is completely understandable and well deserved. 10/10 for G7 too for having the stones to send it to you knowing you'd be completely honest in your appraisal.
You have CREDIBILITY which is a Win/Win for your audience and the suppliers.
I dig this guy and I loved his review and trust him. I'm buying one. Thanks so much. Subscribed.
I’ve been using the G7th capo for about 7 years. It by far the best I’ve found. This new model looks to be even better. I need one 👍
I love when technology benefits music.
G7th, absolutely best capos on the market. And I have to say they are wonderful to deal with.
Convinced me guys, I'm now looking to get me one of these. I'm concerned the heavy spring tension on my Kyser capo will damage the nitro on my new 60's Original Tele.
those kyser capos are just as hard to put on my guitar as it is to pick up and elephant one handed
I just ordered mine earlier today. So excited to try it out. Blown away by the manufacturer! Here’s a company that listens to its customers and evolves their products. Triple the price, hope it’s worth it.
With a beard like that you know he’s trustworthy.. ima buy one now
They've done you a well deserved solid. Your wealth of knowledge, passion, general likeability, hell even your choice of side-kicks (absolutely no offence) surely factored. Love my G7th's. Have always been able to interchange between all my guitars. As of this writing, my fourth was just purchased. It's no wonder why mine keep getting pilfered! Enjoy the acknowledgment sir.
I have a G7th Performance 2. I wish I knew about the Performance 3!!! I love these capos
Awesome to hear alan gogoll in the video! I have the performance 2... and now totally jealous
Love G7th they truly are a players company, i owned the performance 1 capo and it lasted me over 5 years no problems whatsoever, I finally broke it (thanks to the bass player) it fell off my headstock and the plastic trigger broke off, i emailed them and through their lifetime warranty they took care of me at NO CHARGE
I'm surprised. That sounds like ABUSE, and NOT Fair Wear & Tear!!!
is it free delivery too?
Thanx guys! On my way to put in my order now! Jam on!

Great to see Tony reviewing this capo!
Why didn’t you use it during the video. I get buzzing on every guitar. Including 3 Martins.
THIS! I just had the same experience this week with a new Performance 3 capo. I tested it on four different guitars (two Taylors, a Martin, and a custom-made) and could not get it to properly work without squeezing it very tightly - which defeats the purpose (i.e., keeping intonation with least pressure on strings). I even tried another unit at the store where I purchased (in case of unlikely defect) and it was no better. And for $60, it's just not worth the trouble and I returned it.
I own then first Gen G7 Capo - Any Benefit purchasing the Performance 3
Same here…buzzing. There is solution I can find, no matter how hard I press on the capo. I have written to them, hoping I can send it back for their evaluation.
same problem here... did they text back?

Interesting. This would be great for me even though I rarely play with a Capo. On electric, just like on bass, I prefer vintage Fender necks (50's specs) with the 7.25" radius. For my acoustic guitars I have a Fender Sonoran with a modern 9.5" radius, and a Gretsch Jumbo Rancher with a 12" radius. Be nice to have one capo that can do it all well, instead of having to get a capo for each guitar when I hardly ever use one anyhow. Always nice to see companies putting real thought into the little things musicians struggle with an offering them quality solutions.
Tony, please address the buzzing issue.
I've recently bought one of these and I'm afraid I'm disappointed. The buzzing and/or sharpening problems that the manufacturers describe around the 4 minute mark on the video are precisely what I DO get using the G7th. This is the case to a greater or lesser degree on all four of my acoustics (3 different Faiths and a Baby T). Roughly speaking, the lighter gauge the string, the more pronounced the problem, although we're only talking the difference between 12/54 and 11/52. However, the least disappointing results are on my electric Chinese "Stratocopy" which of course is strung much lighter than the acoustics, but which unfortunately I very rarely play these days. On the face of it this is much inferior to my Shubb which I've had about 30 years and would cost about half the price of the G7th to replace.
Sorry to hear this Geoff! Please hit me up at tommy.loose@g7th.com - we can get this sorted for you :) Tommy
Same here.
same problem here
Totally agree. I thought I was buying a “better mousetrap” and was willing to pay 3 times the price, but was extremely disappointed. I bought it through Amazon and have sent it back for a full refund. Also, because Acoustic Life raved about G7th P3 was the main reason I decided to order one, BUT he never demonstrated it, and continues not to. Now, I know why. All talk. I googled G7th forums and there are many players who are as dissatisfied as I am. I’ve been playing for decades and know how to clamp on a capo. I’m unsubscribing from this channel.
SAME! I was very disappointed (especially after seeing endorsements from Mike Dawes and Christopher Cross). I returned mine after only two days of fighting it.
Thanks for the straight forward explaination. I will order one.
Just bought a “ new never used “ version of this and i found it buzzes on the frets. Is this due the rubber being worn?.
I don't believe it functions on all guitars as well as they advertise. I just returned mine after two days of trying to get it to work consistently without mashing it down on the neck.
Lol. I was convinced that a commercial had started for a second there. First time to the channel, obviously.
Love my new G7th 3. Great stuff.
Lol I have a $1.99 wish capo that makes a weird buzz XD 😂
The best capo I have ever used :-)
I have a G7th Performance 2 ( for several years ) and it's fantastic - I love it. ( By far ) The Best. I may purchase their Cut-Capo too? oNe LoVe from NYC
Interesting, I surely check it out Tony.
G7 are capo of tutti capos on the market ;)
They even have kinda gold plattered capos (crazy expensive) for those who cannot play guitars yet, but intend to.
Best guitar geek ever, Tony
I've noticed what appears to be a storage case in the video, is this included with the capo?
Very nice product! I'm gonna grab one!
Great product, I’ve had the Mk1 for years. It doesn’t get to much ware but here in the UK the price is insane for the ART model £35-ish 🙃
Tony when are we getting the low down on the new Fender acoustasonic. I can't wait for your opinion.
Anthony, I haven't had a chance to try one yet :-) You all will be the first to know when I do :-)
@@tacguitar I had an acoustasonic 30 for years. Great Amps, however sold it recently and upgraded to an acoustic solutions 150 By godin. Check them out, acoustic sound quality is incredible.
Amazing toney keep making video's 😊
Only the performance 2 is available near by me, Is it better? Or performance 3 is better?
Does the performance 2 also have this all neck profile shape adjustment?
Only the Performance 3 has the ART :)
Still love my Kyser capo. Fast and buzz free
Does this capo clamp well high on the neck? 5-7ish?
Indeed :-) I have used this on my '35 0-17 which has a pretty aggressive neck taper (the neck gets pretty thick towards the body) and this capo worked flawlessly :-)
Acoustic Life awesome! I may invest in one 😍
I just got mine and it doesn't respond well to 4th fret. Buzzing on the G string. My Scubb is so much clearer and buzz free. Not sure why Tony stuck his neck out on this one. I'm afraid to go any higher.
You didn’t even use it?
Does it work with 12 string guitars?
They make a 12 string version
I have a G7 performance capo and I don’t like it at all. I have a hard time putting it on my guitar and I get buzz when I try and use it. I’ll stick with other kapose instead.
SAME! I'm very disappointed (especially for $60) and returned mine.
is the silver one prone to rust?
As long as you keep it clean and wiped down/away from continual moisture, nope!
Buzz free? Not for me. Same on my 3 Martins.
I’d love to try on of these....my kaiser just does not cut it.
When I use my kaiser, my low E gets a dull sound....this capo here you are reviewing sounds like it would be just the thing I need :)
Can it be used for flat fretboard or nylon strings?
yes :) As long as the neck isn't too wide
As one person mentioned, I'm also disappointed in the G7 capo. My B string buzzes no matter how much I adjust it. My old Shubb does a better job. Maybe the G7 is better suited to electric than acoustic guitars. However, I expect much more at the G7 price.
Sorry to hear this! Please hit me up at tommy.loose@g7th.com - we can get this sorted for you :) Tommy
I just bought one, got delivered today and used it at a gig tonight. I could not stop the buzzing, I thought I must have been doing something wrong! I'm glad to hear I am not the only one!
What the hell is a "Campo"?? LOL!! Great video!! very instructional!!
I've tried 2 of these and they both buzz, usually the g or d string especially on the first 3 frets. 3 different guitars all properly set up. Martin $ Guild. other people have the same issue. returning both. (and yes I do know how to correctly put it on... no matter). Luckily I shop with a reputable return friendly dealer. these are $$$$$ for what they are.

Cool!!
Ha, I don’t have a drawer full of capos. I probably own 4 or 5 of them, but have no damn clue where they are, or which guitar case they are probably in. I wish I had a drawer with capos in it. At least then I’s know where I could find a capo.
hmm, skip james used a pencil and a rubber band
Same hahaha
I use there fantastic
Another ad. Why not show us how this works on your different guitars? And how it sounds/stay in tune.
The package says “steel string” . Can it be used on nylon classic guitar?
If the neck isn't too wide, yes :)
4 weeks without buying cigarettes is worth it to buy this capo.
Ah yes, the "CAPPPO"
there are this capos from g7th the g7th nashville
Another Better mousetrap
I still love me a shubb
Does it work on drums? 😂😂😂
Maybe. Maybe .... ;)
Did you sell your soul for a few bucks? Absolutely overpriced and overrated capo I am returning mine.
I have a $17 paige capo and it stays in tune fine for what I do.... $49 no way !!!! Overpriced
When can we expect the 'PERFORMANCE 4', maybe I'm a CYNIC, me thinketh I'm not alone. LOL
If we can find another problem that needs solving in the capo world, perhaps one day! But not for a long time yet :)
@@g7thcapo It's hard not to be cynical when confronted by people like yourselves constantly claiming to be improving upon such a BASIC concept as a CAPO.😂🤣😂
@@seamusbrowne4909 Thanks for the comment Seamus :) In terms of a capo being 'basic' we'd have to politely disagree there, but then again, we spend all day every day dealing with the complex ins and outs of the 5 different models that we offer and how players find each of them across their range of guitars, not to mention the years worth of ongoing research and prototyping that goes into producing them!
Hope your capo is treating you well whatever it is that you use :)
@@g7thcapo I do actually have quite a few of your CAPOS, which I like very much. However having said that, your 12 String Capo which I purchased for my Takamine P3DC-12 back in 2014 did not do the job. No matter how much i adjusted it i could not stop the Top E pair Strings from Buzzing. I am aware that the Fretboard is heavily Radiused for a 12 String, 12" to be exact. Having said that if your Research is so thorough as you claim how come you weren't aware of the possible problem here.🤔🤔🤔
@@seamusbrowne4909 Hi again Seamus, thanks for your follow-up :) That's great to hear you have quite a few of our CAPOS already. In terms of this specific issue, some photos and a video showing the issue would be really useful to work with. Please send them to tommy.loose@g7th.com and I'll take a look myself for you. From what you've said, I think it's likely a Performance model 12 string if you bought it back in 2014, but once I see it I'll be able to answer more accurately. If you have a faulty unit, we can replace it for you under the lifetime warranty.
In response to your comment regarding the differing radius, we have spent a lot of time and resources addressing this very issue :) The 12 string Heritage model features our compensated string pad, along with our Adaptive Radius Technology string pad. This allows the pad to infinitely adapt to match the radius of your 12 string
I look forward to receiving your pictures and video via email, and of course, feel free to comment here too.
Also, if I may anticipate your next comment - we appreciate that the Heritage model is a jump in price. HOWEVER - this is due to the level of complexity of the production process, the research that went into it and as I mentioned, the components involved regarding the ability to adapt to the radius, whatever it may be, along with the compensated string pad. For starters, if your current capo is faulty, then we can subtract what you paid for that from the price of a Heritage to start with, but please don't fret (pun intended) - I'll happily speak with you about all possibilities if you'd like to try the Heritage 12 string model and make sure you get something you're happy with at the end of the process :)
Best wishes,
Tommy
G7th Capos
I’ll stick with my $17 shubb. $50 for a capo is insane.
Why do you guys over the pond keep pronouncing it wrong !! Say cap and then add the o. Is it some kind of mafia neurosis ! (get it ) ?
