I always preferred the Newport over the performance. Just felt like a much more reliable design. I have both and also an Elliott elite capo which really is the best by a long way.

What guitar did you have trouble with using the lightweight one? Was it a martin V neck or something fatter like a vintage parlor guitar?
    Thanks

I bought the lightweight one. I have a Martin 00-18V with a fat V neck, 1.75” nut and it works just fine all the way up to the 7th/8th fret

How do these capos react to string bending? Do the string stay in place? Ah, you mention it towards the end and say bending's OK with the Heritage. But the price of this piece is a real 'Ouch!'

If you clamp down hard enough the strings stay pretty much in place with all of them, but I found the Heritage was best for this - even with the performance 2 sometimes the treble strings would move and then be out of tune... Ben
