- Hello All, my name is Khem. I consider myself a newbie when it comes to motorcycle riding. I finally made it out of my comfort zone.
Thanks for watching. Leave a like if you want to see more and subscribe to help me create and improve my contents. Thank you!
heck yeah! baby steps are ok. not everyone has been riding for 20+ years. I didn't get my motorcycle license until i was 51!
True! We have our own timeline! Ride safe!
Me too! Props to us old dudes gettin it done. Be safe !
@@brianthompson324 we are only getting old when we stop doing new things! 😊
Always wanted my license and bday #50 told me it was past time.
@@brianthompson324 please don’t limit the things you can do because of age. I’d start with motorcycle safety course. My dad was 68 when he first got his M1 license!
Baby steps, but big progress, keep it up dude! - having less confidence makes you more alert which is never a bad thing :)
True! Thank you!
This was very relaxing and awesome content homie keep it up!
Badass bike! Early morning Coffee and motorcycles is a great combo
@@sdm1568 this was the most american way I did in my entire 10 years here in California. It was indeed great combo!
Great job! At 5’5”, you’d be the tallest in my family 😂 (I’m only 4’11”, and my mom was shorter.) I love this color of the 500-I had a 2019 Rebel 500, and traded it in for my 1100, but I’m considering a 500 again after having rented one in Hawaii. I missed how light it is and to be able to flat foot a bike!
Thank you po! It is definitely light and low lol ride safe po!
Well done. I started traveling from home to work..about 30mins ride. Had someone ride with me the first time which was great. I also knew the roads . When I wanted to travel further I rode with them again. They would stop to tell me what to improve on. Was fantastic. Still learning too.
Same here! I’m still learning. Actually, riding with someone definitely helps boost confidence, but I don’t know anyone who rides motorcycle lol Ride safe!
This is awesome! I've recently gotten the motorcycle bug and am hoping to take the MSF course soon so I can learn to ride! I've also been researching as to what will be the best first bike for me and the Honda Rebel 500 has been on my radar for awhile, and the more I think about it and research, it seems like the best suited bike for me once I do the MSF course and get my endorsement, so it's nice to find someone who's riding and enjoying it so I can see how it rides and handles. Looks like a wonderful and very forgiving bike! Very proud of you for the accomplishment you've achieved!! Stay safe out there and have fun!
Hello! You can never go wrong with honda rebel 500. The power is not overwhelming for new riders and definitely will not underperform.
@@BayawKhem Awesome, thank you!!
If you have speakers installed in your helmet you can also have the GPS tell you directions that way in case you forget to charge your watch. Stay safe out there!
Like that colour.
Congratulations on pushing your boundaries, I look forward to following in your steps some day! I'm a little surprised that a bike new enough to have a digital display wouldn't have a tachometer though?
@@bwc1976 yeah no tachometer. Mostly, just listening to the engine. Actually, it’s an upgrade cause previous models don’t have gear indicator. Lol
Good job! I remember my first ride from Honda dealer to home with my Rebel500, looks very similar ;) But in my country You have to first get course and exam, so it was less stress for me.
Where are you from?
@@BayawKhem From Poland
Hoping to visit Poland someday!
I’ve already taken it and am licensed to drive . Had a Grom. Did a lot of riding.
dude this video is awesome - heavily considering one of these bikes and this helps more than u know
Glad to know! I’m very happy with it 😊
Check out the Kawasaki offering as well. The Eliminator. A very similar motorcycle with a few differences you might prefer.
Love that bike man!
Well done! Make sure to chain it tho if you don't want that machine to get nicked mate.
An MSF course is worth it. It might seem a bit pricey, but that's another thing you will learn if you're a beginner; not much about motorcycling is actually cheap,,,,,,,,except gas if you're getting like 50+ MPG, or you get an inexpensive used bike and intend on doing almost no maintenance to it. You focus on the sticker price of a bike, then you decide to get it, then you can easily spend another $1000 on helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, riding pants, a lock, cover, phone mount, tank or tail bag.....
@@garyives1218 “a bike is cheaper than a car”
Yeah, I fell for it too! Lol
Hey AB, at the 7:23 & the 7:43 minute mark- there was a green light on your dash dial that lit up, and, a couple other times in the early part of the video-what was that "idiot light" at the center of the dash for? I'm seriously considering the rebel 500 for my first bike(I'm 58 years young now) I know I need to start out on a small "cc"d motorcycle. Doug🏍️👍😁🤓😎
Hello Douglas! That’s the Neutral indicator. You will never regret it when you get a rebel 500. As long as you know what you’re getting (its limitations) you will be pretty much happy and contented. I love it so much!
@@BayawKhem I have not had anyone explain all the "idiot lights" on the dash, so, this is new to me. I'll need to do more research on the model before I go head long into getting a motorcycle I don't fully know. Thank-you for your quick response to my question.🏍️👍😁🦅🐻 Doug
How did you practice downshifting in the neighborhoods? I’m barely practicing and I’ve honestly just been on second gear the whole time
My first bike is a Honda shadow 750 I got it off my neighbor 😅
@@chimichanga6089 Not sure how to explain it since im a visual learner, so I watch a lot of youtube videos about downshifting lol
But first, I ride my bike only every sunday morning lol no traffic around my neighborhood during that time. Look for a straight road to practice going up at least to third gear. When you are about stop, use engine breaking (while putting slight pressure on front break) then as you slow down, you downshift to lower gear to match the speed (while adding more pressure on breaks, gradually).
Motojitsu has a lot of informative videos on yt. I’m not really good in explaining lol
@@BayawKhem thanks for the information man
I’m hoping I build up confidence myself I’ve dropped my bike once already but that’s how you learn right.
@@chimichanga6089 yes, build up your confidence first. It’s okay to drop your bike cause that’s part of the process. Ride safe!
Sweet, I also have this as my first bike, the RS version though.
@@AcerTheRed ride safe!
Good riding!
Thanks! Ride safe! 😊
i would say that riding class investment payed off well looks like you learned a lot from it
Thank you! Definitely did help me a lot. I would recommend it to everyone who is new to riding motorcycle.
@@BayawKhem yea I’m gonna take that class this year before I get my bike
Question, is the display hud easy to see during a bright sunny day? Does it give you the option to brighten it for daytime or nighttime ?
Display is pretty hard to see under direct sunlight, but pretty visible during night time. I don’t think there’s an option to brighten up the display.
Well Done
I’m trying to convince my wife to let me get a rebel 500, never rode before but wanna really bad
Hmm buy a helmet first and maybe riding jacket. Make sure you prioritize safety above all. Main reason they dont want us to ride is because of safety. But if you assure her that you'll take safety course, buy protective gears, im pretty sure she will say yes. Also, this motorcycle has very low seat and power is adequate - she might end up riding it lol
Hey man is this the Dunkin in berryessa? I also have a Honda 500 dm me if you ever feel like riding I am also under 6 months riding.
@@nvckT408 yeah, the one in berryessa. I sold my bike recently lol ride safe!
2:48 shopping cart would scare me, also I have had a rabbit jump around . I drive a Honda monkey. It’s the little things lol
Lol i did not notice that there was a target shopping cart on the road.
I just bought my first bike and I’m 60 years old ,I took the course and just passed by the skin of my teeth but I have a big problem with anxiety every time I just sit on my bike it starts,I’ve had my bike for 3 months but only took it out maybe 10 times ,I’m beginning to think I’ve maid a big mistake ,the only good thing is I live in a small town Can anyone give some advice 😢
@@kenisaacson1259 the only mistake you will make is that you will never try. I have the same feeling as you. I get anxiety as well cause the drivers here are pretty bad. Why i did to gain confidence is ride it every weekend morning - less cars to deal with. You are doing great! You can overcome the anxiety and gain confidence in riding.
