The G100 is a very interesting movement. Design is based on the miyota 9015, re-enginered with many improvements, but is also designed to be swappable with the eta 2824.
That copper dial one does look very nice. The 'Burnt Orange' looks pretty cool based on the pictures too. Having a high power reserve is great. It definitely has some similarly to the Miyota 9015.
Hugely impressive move from Zelos with the G100 and it appears to be getting a whole loada love from the watchfam, I must admit Im not mad about the looks but good luck to them.
Waiting with bells on… It will be my eighth purchase from Zelos… Five remain in my collection… I’ve never been disappointed… Also of note, I had an issue with the bracelet, set an email… And a new brace it was shipped out within 48 hours… They have great customer service as well!
Definitely right to call out the 1 year warranty if that movement is their first 'entry level' effort - if it's the first time you've seen it then it's not likely to have been in a lot of watches yet, for any reasonable length of service. Would probably make me wait until it's more proven before I jumped in.
At $1000 Aussie, there are a lot of decisions to make given the available alternatives. The copper dial is a bit special, the case looks nice, and the movement is pretty, but I won't be worried that they sell out before I'm ready to buy. Great unboxing. The box is a useful addition.
Something to be considered when it comes to longevity of the lume. The size of markers and narrower hands only allow so much lume to be applied no matter how much it gets layered on. It still will probably hang with most watches, but just like some SEIKO models the design is going to have some effect on the lume strength. It's good to hear you had no issue with stuck screws. A few other reviewers complained about a few that were problematic. I sized a few ZELOS recently and 1.2mm driver worked like a charm
Another superb review. I do so enjoy your honesty. Even though they gave you a watch. You stay true to your Principles and preferences in a watch. Its a nice looking set, I do like the copper dail. I would like a choice of which bezel. I would prefer a Diver Bezel, Unidirectional instead. Thats just me. Id also prefer numerical I indices. Again my preference. Great Job.
Two beautiful watches, love those dials. I see that Shane at Relative Time and Dave at Just the Watch, both had significant difficulty resizing the bracelet. Maybe you were looking lucky or they were unlucky. Nice movement but not really beautiful, it looks like a Miyota to me, and I'd prefer a nice engraved closed caseback personally. Excellent review.
I picked up the meteorite dial version today, and so glad I did. I love movement alternatives to the NH35. The 40mm Mako with the Miyota is their best so far in that price range.
I know you don't like to do Sean Connery impressions that much but: "...and that is a LeJoux Perret G100 - and that is very attractive" was pretty spot on :D
Great unboxing video. I was torn between the orange and the green but ultimately choose the green as the light green lume on the bezel matched much better than with the orange.
Well done for getting the review out in time! I'm most interested in that movement, I would take it over the Powermatic 80 every time, not because it is high beat though. It is great to see a new movement with a regulating lever, so in the future normal watch makers can regulate it easily 👍
I like the exhibit caseback and feel it is an attractive dial but prefer the 10 minute intervals on the bezel instead of 0 to12. I understand the second time zone function but don't really need it nor a gmt function. Elshan is doing a fantastic job. Looking forward to his other releases this year
Movement is a great choice, hope to see this in micros under 700usd. Female endlinks and more curvy cases by Zelos finally! The forged carbon matching dial and bezel looks great.
Everybody on Yt can talk about a wobble, when talkin about the Citizen range movements. But it doesnt change the fact, its more accurate, with more power reserve than Seiko movem.
Jody, have you been viewing the Cheap Audio Man's channel? Your unwrapping music in this review is the same as his intro music. Great, entertaining review...per usual!
Great looking watch and great movement. Why didn't Zelos come with some reguilar dial colors. Missing the blue and black dials. The copper dial looks great, but is it also after 5 years from now?
Is the lume pip on the Carbon mis-aligned? In the lume shot I actually thought you hadn't reset the bezel but then the other numbers seemed to be in the right spot?
I wanted a forged carbon Zelos for long enough and when I eventually got my hands on the titanium swordfish in forged carbon I don't like it anywhere near as much as I thought I would. In reviews and on camera it looks fantastic but in the flesh every time I look at it I keep thinking there are smears on the crystal and it needs a wipe clean.
lol, thanks for sharing! I always get torn whether to like forged carbon or not. I've seen it in high gloss with dark forged carbon and it looks great. I've seen it on the 'waterfall' center panel of an Aston Martin, thought it looked pretty bad. And here the tone just seems too bright and too swirly. It looks like liquid silver paint. I prefer it a little bit darker and more of a 'chopped' forged carbon, like it's Opal/Crystals or something, closer to Meteorite dials than these smudges...
If this is anything like the Miyota 9015 which is already a movement I'm a big fan of, even upgraded with an exctended power reserve and some Swissness, I wouldn't have any qualms getting one. A word about Zelos's customer service, more than once I had very good experiences with them, Elshan in particular.
I only watched this video for info on the G100 movement. Well done Citizen/LJP! The watches, however, have a particularly haphazard design this time around, IMHO…
I watch every one of your video reviews, I love them and your channel, one of my top places to spend time in the love of watches. I do wonder if I am the only subscriber that mutes the volume until after the "Hullo and w..." intro. lol
Great video, good looking design but I can’t get past that yellow fill for the bezel. The copper dial might have been an insta buy if it had a dive bezel.
I kinda love that forged carbon one. it's honestly such a bummer that they sell out fast because I'll never get my hands on one even if I tried. shame the lume isn't quite as legendary as we've come to expect. that bracelet clasp though! rapid micro adjust is an absolute must have for me. don't know why manufacturers are so slow to hop on board.
You are getting less value with each progressive Zelos release and it seems that QC declines with each release. I love my two Zelos watches but the brand is pushing out a bit too hard and the cost of creating a new watch every few months is starting to show in design and quality. If you look at the marco in this video you will see flaws on the hands which is not great for a $700 watch. The finishing is acceptable but not great for the price. The bracelets are good but the clasps have issues. My titanium swordfish has the same clasp and each month it gets harder to snap shut. Now I have to depress the releases to get it to close smoothly, not a major issue but signals a design flaw.
@@knowyourhistory I also don't have that kind of disposable money available at the drop of a hat. hopefully some more affordable g100 watches come out soon

Nice looking watch. Great video Jody. Given you have the pressure tank I would like to see some underwater shots of ‘Diver’s’ and ‘Dive Style’ watches just to see what their visibility is like underwater. When you are underwater the changes in the light refraction can cause some crystals to completely white out with reflection. A good anti-reflective coating should stop or reduce that.

A la joux-perret movement inside a $650 watch? Sounds too good to be true. These are the same people that make the movements for Arnold and Sons watches. Normally very high end movements...
Remember a few years ago when some watch makers were reworking third party movements and calling them 'in-house'? How is this different? If this movement is the up-market version is there one that a step down? ETA and Selleta have 4 levels, does this movement manufacture do the same?
Another great review. This is an interesting watch. Had this been a bigger player in the brand world I'm sure that the price would inflate to reflect as much. Very taken with the copper face. I suspect the hot colour, burnt orange and maybe the carbon dialled Spearfish models will sell out but the higher price (and higher edition numbers) mean there will be plenty of the other models available.
I distinctly remember them selling out in less than a minute pre-Covid. Now it's more reasonable, a couple of hours maybe. Idk what's caused the change. They still offer great quality, but they seem to be stuck in a diver pattern. Thoughts?
