No way! I just called them and canceled my Amazon membership. I also apologized to the guy in advance and said I had a personal message to the owner of Amazon : go and **** ******** !
I'm so glad I got rid of all those paid streaming services. I'm very happy with my antenna and my Blu Ray player and all the free content like Pluto, crackle, Tubi, Samsung plus etc.
If amazon keeps this attitude up, they will fee themselves to extinction. For what it's worth, I seldom if ever am influenced by any of the ads form any platform.
Typical two-faced Democrats do as I say, not as I do. RUclips deleted this comment, and youtube is also part of the problem, blocking and deleting people's free speech if they don't like what you have a right to say.
Been with Prime for years using it for online shopping, and video game perks. Hardly watched their movies even before the commercials came about so its no big deal to me. Don't plan to upgrade.
As soon as Freevee showed up, I began to lose confidence. Annoying as hell. No ads are the WHOLE POINT, numbnuts. But eventually saw one w/ads and surprised to see they were pretty quick. First damn one with Amazon ads and already it's almost a minute at the start. NO. I was on the cancel screen next. As in NO.
Yeah its ridiculous to charge me 16.53 including tax for an ad based prime service,I paused my membership for now but probably will cancel next month for good.
Cancelled my prime. I didn't watch Prime video that much as it was, but the shipping times slipping from next day to 3-4 day or maybe even next week is what sealed the deal for me. Then they revised the prices of Prime, then two weeks before my membership renewal I cancelled, and had a countdown for "you have xx many days left to still use your Prime membership" Lo and behold - when the actual day of cancellation came, I was charged $140 for the annual subscription instead of it being cancelled. As if I needed another final straw - Amazon just helped me along that much more in cancelling their service. Thanks but no thanks to the Chinese garbage products that take a week to arrive.
Saw this coming with their freevee bs when even prime members have to sit through ads which made no sense to me. A 3$ increase just to not have ads is ridiculous. I paid 14. Just cancelled today. Physical media people. Next step is having to pay to not see ads in movies you bought digitally
I am a Prime member, and I have NOT seen any ads yet in any old or current release on Prime. I have NOT pressed that " GO Ad Free" button either so I'm still paying $14.99😂😂😂
Yeah, that's my plan as well. One thing that I hope doesn't happen (since I haven't checked it yet) is that their logo stays off the screen no matter what - with ads or no ads. One big problem for me with the freevee channel is that that logo is on the screen. Terrible (well, to be fair all logos on all the channels and broadcasters should not be on the screen during content, but that's a rant for another day). But if I decide to pay the $3 every month, I want a clean screen, just like it's been (and same as on netflix and paramount+, which I also subscribe too - ad-free in both cases). Years ago when I had directv and 3 premium packages (hbo, showtime, and cinemax) showtime started putting their logos on the screen during the movies. TL/DR is that ended up canceling all the premium pkgs bc once one monkey started doing it, the other monkeys followed along. You're not a premium pkg if you are editing the movies by slapping crap on the screen. One last tidbit: Back in the good ol' days of 3 broadcasters, commercial time in the 8pm-11pm block was regulated at 5 minutes per 30 minutes. We accepted the content cuts in syndication (so yeah some scenes of Star Trek got dumped so they could add more ad time, but that was on the syndicated channels). After 1978 it was deregulated and pretty soon every broadcaster kept thinking like they were running the NYC buses and subways: come on in, there's always room for another 30 seconds of ads. I recall when Scifi in 1999 (or thereabouts) said, hey, we're going to show the original star trek episodes UNCUT. Yippee. I figured ok, 10 minutes of ads and 50 minutes of content. Nope. They padded it out and made each episode 90 minutes long. I said, (to quote my favorite clown), Sorry, Homey Don't Play That Game.
This is Extremely annoying. Like you guys, I do use my Amazon Prime membership primarily for the shopping and other benefits. I don't think it is worth it to pay the additional rate for ad free, because I only watch a handful of shows on Prime video. I realize that the cost of original video production is high and increasing, but Amazon has definitely lost sight of the reason the reason people subscribe to Prime.
Agreed, on all counts. Outside of Nicole watching a couple of shows we really don't watch much on Prime Video. Yes, it is increasing, but the least they could've done not made it a forced price increase.
In fairness, I did watch some Prime content, like the original Bosch series, the Jack Ryan series, and the current Reacher series, but that's the only thing I watch on Prime. The first series has transitioned to Freevee which is ad supported and the second series stopped production after the third season, so they probably don't add much production cost. This seems to be either a revenue grab by Amazon or a way to offset production costs for some of their less popular content, like Rings of Power or Citadel. Either way it makes me angry. If I didn't use the other benefits of Amazon Prime regularly, I'd cancel, but for now I will put up with ads on the one or two shows I still watch.
Amazon charging more and still not improving their crappy video and audio quality is what I find so irritating about this. When you watch a baseball game you see tracers behind the ball like you're on acid or something, and the sound is so out of sync with the picture that it's ridiculous.
Totally agreed. We get having price hikes, but offer something of value in them. Low density ads are fantastic, but when it's new and being forced on you, it's not a value add.
This plus the super-creepy Hazbin Hotel promotion on Prime Video were just too much for us, so we dumped Prime and Amazon altogether. Great video. Have a like & a subscrition.
You'll survive, and Bezos et al. will get filthy rich from all the cheeseburger money they're taking in. It's this mentality that makes everyone poor collectively.
I would pay the same for a premium channel bundle. I’d like Cinemax and Starz in one place. Now trialing Starz at a ridiculously low price too good to pass up! 😊
Hey, you all!! Good to see this video. I’m not going to pay 3 dollars plus more to get what I already had. Hypothetically, that payment would have to completely eliminate advertising.
Exactly. They really could've added an ad-supported tier, for several dollars less a month. But, it makes little sense to pay more to have the same thing and no added value.
Just cancelled prime video and paramount plus and amc plus starz apple tv time clean house in this set 😂😂😂😂 im keeping max and netflix i dont pay for disney plus hulu bundle deal and peacock thats all i need
Like many others, I've been a Prime member for years...starting back when it was about $79 per year. Anyway, we have enjoyed the Prime videos/movie selection in the past but about a year or so back they changed the menu/selection screen and it seems the content and quality of movies has declined ever since. I doubt we have watched more than 2 or 3 movies via Prime over the last six months. Although I hate the ads, and lord know Bezos does not need the additional billion this will bring in...I will not be upgrading. If or when they improve the content...maybe. If Amazon really cared about their customers...they would figure out a way to give long term loyal customers a price break instead of an increase; or grandfather our membership rate...without these petty fee jabs!
I HATE ads. But if I must choose, I will watch good content with ads versus mediocre or bad content (Netflix) without ads. Good content is more important than ad-free content.
I will stay put for now with Prime. Even though I view Prime as paid for by the use of 3 to 4 no additional cost priority package deliveries per month it still stings they are charging more for the service I had.
I upgraded and it sucks that you now have to pay to be on the ad free tier. That’s puts it there with Netflix. I feel like they’re going down the cable TV route to pay for all the original content. It wouldn’t make sense to have ads if they had old and curated content. We have more channels than we used in the days when we had only four terrestrial broadcasters.
I’m not happy that Prime Video has taken this approach. However, I am going to see how many adverts are on shows & films before deciding if I will renew or not
guy who grew up with 3 network affiliates, 1 independent station and the local educational (pre PBS) channel. Also we had rabbit ear antennas, black and white broadcasts and i WAS the remote control! So, the ads, per se,won't bother me. What does make me p.o.ed is that poor little Jeff Bezos thinks he needs or is entitled to more money! Don't be holding your breath waiting for MY extra $2.99/month, Jeff! Have a nice day! 😂
My $135 apparently isn’t enough. They won’t get another penny from me. As a matter of fact, I’m considering cancelling all together. NOT part of the business. This is a failure of foresight on the streamer’s. There is eventually a breaking point.
I'm so surprised no one is talking about this. The company that can afford to send its idiot CEO into space wants to squeeze us for more? Just canceled my sub. I won't be part of the problem.
Amazon has put the nail in my coffin. Starting the 29th I am only watching Amazon Prime from my desktop which has an add blocker so far it is working. I will no longer watch prime on my television. Maybe these companies should come up with a way to draw more customers to their service so they make more money that way. What happened to companies trying to gain more money by drawing in more customers. Instead of bleeding their faithful customers by raising prices!
Canceled. At least I can ff on my cable dvr. Refuse to watch Ads or pay to remove them. Anyone that does will encourage more Ads. I see my dvd collection increasing in size. Be well....
i mostly watch anime these days on grey sites. there is still a lot of legality over if off sites can host those or not. sadly they work better than Crunchyroll, which buffers like crazy. Otherwise, i'd probably support that content more as I'd never do that for Hollywood. Past that it's pretty much gaming for my entertainment. give that time and they'll put ads in that too lol.
I make every effort NOT TO BUY anything that’s advertised when fees are introduced. That helps defeat the purpose. As to additional costs for ad-free, it’ll just introduce more churn from one streamer to another. Not hard to literally give each streaming service 6 months out of each year, rotate between them, and never actually feel like you’re paying for more than 2 at a time. They don’t have enough new, watchable content to stick with them for too long any way.
Amazon promises to keep the ads to a minimum. That won't last long. Soon whatever is being viewed will be interrupted every 10 minutes with a stinking ad. I'm not having it. I canceled Prime Saturday night.
I do not care have ads I have Netflix basic plan with ads And won't be paying to remove ads in price video With Netflix basic plan with ads it cost lot cheaper then other plans It not big deal too me
Just watched Frazier. Two commercials, one at the beginning and the second halfway. They were about 25 seconds each. I won’t be upgrading, I don’t watch a lot on prime but use its other benefits.
All BS starts off slowly, making you think it won't get worse but it always DOES. Remember when Prime membership was only like $80 or so? Now it's $140, likely to be increased even more. Oh but inflation... yeah inflation doesn't affect billionaires who have accounts who knows where. It's straight up greed.

@@FrugalRules wow sorry to hear that you did mention that in your live stream but didn't know it would be the whole 2 months and didn't know it was for such a serious reason hopefully your family gets better and things become more normal again soon
@@fitfighter24 Thanks. Yea, it's just an unfortunate part of having parents that are aging and us being 1,000+ miles from either. Thankfully, on one side, there are five of us kids so it's easier to cover bases.
Will you be paying to upgrade to the ad-free experience?
Nope!
Nope, and it's edging me towards canceling my prime membership. The ad free content was one perk that helped justify the cost of prime.
No way! I just called them and canceled my Amazon membership. I also apologized to the guy in advance and said I had a personal message to the owner of Amazon : go and **** ******** !
