Man it feels like this last week, every other day I'm hearing about a stolen cop car. I'm not even a cop but standard practice for me is to lock my car door as soon as I step out (before even, I pull the door handle and then immediately hit the lock button once my door's open) and I feel like if that had been done in this situation he'd at least not have been able to steal the car.

@@halocodify The only reason I can think is that the cop car has a transponder and just like this scenario. When the perp has no access to their vehicle they may try and kill the officer (witness).
Therefore in America its actually safer for the police to let the perp steal their car or drive away and get into a police chase.

@@halocodify Departmental thing, Weld county cars in the last state I lived in had them, Sound off units. I like them enough I install them in all my vehicles. Out here in the state Im currently living no one has them, not even heard of them or know they exist. I actually had 2 different conversations where a Officer was intrigued by it when looking at my car and I explained what it was and they were mystified it existed. Thankfully Ford has since 2020 programmed them into all interceptors all it needs is activation, though most departments wont have it activated voluntarily. If it comes activated by default more departments would probably A: use it B: get to see first hand why its useful C: then propagate its use as most likely one dept gets it, soon others will follow after seeing how easy it is to adopt use, and what its saves you monetarily and safety wise. Also as to the comment above me, these systems act parallel to the main electrical, meaning if it dont work car still starts and stops, though these Sound off units are insanely over engineered, they have 40amp rated relays in them and 10awg wire, and are fully potted. Highly doubt they'll fail.

Im glad you slow-mo'd it because holy shit even in the slow mo i almost thought the perp stole the officers gun it went so fast. That was damn terrifying to see that guy slowly try and take aim at the officer. Godsdamn im glad the officer is as ok as he could be from something crazy like this. Also hope whoever was t-boned was alright as well, that was a damn nasty collision. and holy damn! ALSO all those people getting in/ out of their cars as he sped by them was also damn scary. This video was fuckin wild :o

I know I’m going to get crap for this… my question is why the weapon gets called a piece of crap when it really did it’s thing. Be angry at all guns, or be angry at the training. The “piece of crap” didn’t have a say and functioned; or I guess make legal people that carry something to protect themselves that can’t afford Gucci Glocks feel like shit for trying. Just cause further divide and call certain brands Ghetto guns and get it over with. The half in half out crap is annoying.

In South America a lot of vehicle owner use a transmitter device that disable vehicles at a certain distance once signal is too far. That’s because a lot of cars are robbed at gun point. That would be great to at least prevent the bad guy to steal their cruisers.

It drives me nuts when I see officers dilly dally around with someone they know they’re going to arrest. He gave this guy time to get awake, gather his wits about him, realize he was going to jail, decide he didn’t want to and formulate a plan how he was going to avoid it. One of the biggest tools an officer has is the element of surprise and it needs to be used to full advantage. Get these offenders under control quickly. If their level of anxiety is allowed to get too high by the officer taking too long to act, bad things happen.
