That must be crazy to hear the radios of your own police chase as you drive a stolen cruiser
That was eerie
he floored it when he heard "do we have gps on that squad car?" 5:53
@@chpenney26 Good catch.
the fact they didn't switch channels blows my mind how incompetent police can be.
@@TheDarknessOfGames Well, if they switch channels they would announce it over the radio and the perp would now know which channel to listen to
He went from barely conscious to combat mode real quick
he was methd up bro all he probly needed was 2 mins of sleep to be fully awake again
And got hits on target
Unfortunately, you are correct. Could have been better, of course; but looks like he's had at least some training. Probably self taught. I'm sure his skill-set will diminish after 40 years in prison
Meth...
Staged ambush.
Was so happy to see the officer get back up and attempt to get his weapon back in the fight. Hooray for a full recovery! 😌
That's just eerie hearing the officer's own transmission through his stolen car's radio
That dude maneuvered and took cover at the right times like he was trained for it, all while piss drunk, shit is crazy.
meth and a lot of video games
Fentanyl & Meth
The police are trained to never underestimate the criminals. You never know if that criminal (who you thought was just a hood rat) just so happens to have military training; or even be the trainer themselves.
OMG this is crazy. It's like when you get a call like this and you're thinking maybe the occupant had medical emergency, heart attack, asthma, whatever, and you feel the need to help, and it's like waking up a monster. Geeze! Things can go from zero to 100 in a nano-second!
Complacency will get us Every time. Everyone is a deadly threat until we are positive they aren't
The electronics should be as such the cruiser will turn off if it is more than 100 yards from the officer.
Yea, it's called having a key fob in your pocket. Doors unlock without using a key and cars shut off if they get too far away from it
@@Surdalegacy Modern police models made by Ford have keys without chips and no fobs. Source: I work in a garage that fixes police vehicles in my city government's fleet.
Also no one needs to buy a new explorer. They're truly awful, awful vehicles.
Very glad the officer is ok.
If ever someone deserved to take the asphalt temperature challenge this would have to be it. Spare a thought for the poor driver who he ran into 😢
ASP AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE!
Yeah, I can understand how and why this went down
23-year old Jetrin Rodthong, the young man in this video, apparent choir boy, on his way to bible study, was getting his life back together, was such a good boy, would never hurt anyone, loved by the community, [insert the standard platitude here], literally said about the shooting of the police officer, and I quote, _”It wasn’t done intentionally or purposefully, it was an accident.”_ 🤔
What a load of 💩💩💩💩💩.
did i hear "poop sandwich" from mike!
Boils my blood. Glad officer isn't hurt bad. 40 years! not enough.
WOOOOOA!!! DONT U MEAN THEY.
he sounded like he said he was drinking Hennesy
I love how much badge cam comes from my great state,.,. Go MKE
Wow!! The rolls were flipped this time
BRO GOT LIKE 5 STARS IN GTA RN
4 years for shooting at a cop, stealing a car, crashing and possession. I was unable to see the face of the victim but I’m curious to know the details including race of the perp ?
40 years?? I would have expected life no parole or worse...
See. They NEVER get away forever.
Speed addicts do sometimes fall asleep as they’re smoking or snorting their drug. The body just gives out at some point. Then they might snap to without warning as we see here.
After, the cop took the keys from car or before he took the keys, he should have waited in his cruiser for back up, to give a better description of the problem. The guy would still be sleeping in the car until backup arrived and the situation better having more control.
This is a case where the best defense for the officer was a good offense. Attack, attack, attack. It’s hard to get a good shot off with lead flying your way. Unfortunately, in this case the bad guy used this to his advantage.
Imagine if that guy hadn't been drugged up and drunk. The cop probably wouldn't of made it.
Here’s a good reason to have an ifak on your person. The guy who shot you just took off with all your medical gear.
I do feel like it shouldn't be THAT easy to just steal a cop car, i.e. hop in and drive away. Should be a way to secure the vehicle
Facts. Happens pretty often too
Getting into the passenger seat is bad legal advice.
LOCK HIM UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY!
I can't imagine how this is going to happen so I guess we'll have to be surprised
40 years for attempted murder? For once. Thank God the dude was under the influence and only landed 2 hits on a still target....
Wait for backup before you remove him from the car!!!
God does show mercy
The sign needs to go in the middle of you awesome dudes 👏 just saying
Facts don't drink and drive but in some states no matter where you are in the car if you jabe the keys or the car is on even if your trying to get warm you still could get a DUI ijs
Why do some cops leave keys in the car ? Only 40 years, it should have been forever.
This is why all police treat everyone as criminal. So it's not the cops fault for being jaded towards citizens.
Listen when you have a driver feeling lost parked on side of the road remember call for back up yes this will save your life these man in the Influence under crystal meth don’t care
The cop was being really nice, I hope he recovers quickly, it was totally messed up that skell was that murderous. I hope he does the entire 40 yrs
Did the person driving the hit car survive?
Devolution has overtaken Evolution in 2023. We have worked hard through generations for ...... what? I don't know anymore.
When you get shot, you don't roll all over the ground in pain. Cop had a great opportunity to get perp, but this is what happens when you hire cowards. Cops are trained to be scared and make it back to their families.
Remember kids....drugs are bad.
There should be remote shut offs that police wear on their uniforms by now. Too many officers vehicles being taken. They should have a first alert response and lock the car down if pushed or asked to be shut down in this case. Very happy to hear this officer survived. Pray for all the good ones
Man it feels like this last week, every other day I'm hearing about a stolen cop car. I'm not even a cop but standard practice for me is to lock my car door as soon as I step out (before even, I pull the door handle and then immediately hit the lock button once my door's open) and I feel like if that had been done in this situation he'd at least not have been able to steal the car.
i actually think if the perp didn't get away with the squad car he would been dead he only attacked fully when he realized the cop took his keys.
Sccy ain't a piece of crap, hi points definitely are
The suspect had perfect up close chance to land a kill. That officer made had been shot still but that’s good luck it wasn’t death that day. If the suspect was sober who knows how accurate that could have ended.
Is there a reason why all squad cars can't have a remote shut off like they do with bait cars? I saw a different video just last week where another guy stole a squad car and hoped out going 45mph and it seems like having a safety measure where dispatch could just lock down a police car would be pretty handy in situations such as this.
No mention of the innocent people in the car that the perp T-boned, hope they are OK. The value of side curtain airbags has never been more apparent.
Yeah, I saw that impact right on the driver's door and wondered if the driver got out OK.
That was a pretty violent shock 😲. A very nasty side collision the victim's car handled quite well. My thoughts go to the occupants and the wounded cop.
For the life of me, I can’t possibly comprehend why the bad guy only got a forty year prison sentence. If he had succeeded in murdering the cop, he would go to prison for the rest of his life. But, because he failed at his murderous plan, the courts rewarded him with a lesser sentence. I will never understand this. 🤦🏻♂️
Really. Ican't believe there was no mention of the T-boned victim.
I understand John and Mike not mentioning the other victims, but both news stories ignored them too. I guess the news media don't care about victims. Perhaps the victims didn't want to be mentioned?
Life no parole is only sentence for a person like this.
I will never understand how he can shoot a cop and because the cop lives he only gets 40 years, thank god that the officer didn’t die but if he did this guy would have been looking at life with no parole. His actions are still the same he should be looking at life and some
death penalty case for sure
Uhhhhhh how about death????
@@mountainmineexplorers you acting like 40 years is nothing if u 20 u gonna be out at 70....
@@snake4lyfe31 40+20=60
Guy went from 6 months without a license to 40 years in prison REAL QUICK
I'm gonna guess that he knew he was bound for prison as soon as the officer found the pistol on him. And that was inevitable once he got out of the car for a patdown.
I know right. He thought killing an officer was a better outcome than a few days in the local jail.
Like John says, don’t expect for some of these offenders to have the same moral compass as you. Just mind blowing at the heinous mindset some people live there life by.
Hope the victim/s that got t-boned is ok.
Geez, that was crazy. I'm glad to hear the officer is going to be okay. As someone said earlier, hopefully, the people that got hit by that idiot will be OK. I'm also glad that this idiot will be going away for a while.
Attempted murder. Capital murder
@matthewotis3594 yeah that part sucks

Yes, i tried to keep a straight face while typing that, but failed.
I hear you but choices have consequences
@Seth Gowen I felt that way quite honestly...my bad
Just a small comment about being in the car drunk. In some states if you have the keys on your person you can be charged with DUI. Happens to a friend of mine who decided to sleep in his back seat. Got charged with a DUI and pretty much derailed a promising career in the military. He eventually beat the DUI charge about a year later but his career was finished by that point.
ya happened to me i had the keys on my lap and if i would have thrown them outside or put in the gas tank i would have been fine
@@fullmetalsasquach8229 I’m sorry that happened. It just doesn’t seem right to me.
I was outside the car with the keys in my pocket and got a super drunk in Michigan
This is the type of shit that actually makes me mad with the justice department.
Your friend was in his back seat. But since his keys were on him he got the dui and screwed his life up.
How is that justice served?
@@bobkeamer9404 because he was in actual physical control of the vehicle still they argue that if you wake up still drunk your in actual physical control but i was still asleep so how is a person in actual physical control when asleep makes me mad too
Why is it that most "wellness checks" never end well? And what happened to the innocent citizen?
The ones that end well never make the news.
Just wanted to point out in most cases you can and will be charged with a DUI, passenger seat or not. Don’t risk it ya’ll! Great vid guys
Don’t forget to toss the keys in the trunk
In canada if the keys are in or even near the car (outside on the tire). The only way is to not know where the keys are, you can achieve this by tossing them in the ditch. Or you'll get a dui
Even if you say the driver left or whatever? It makes no sense (I'm not from U.S)
One of many examples of the absurdity of our legal system, punishing people for doing the right thing and instead incentivizing them to get home as soon as possible, regardless of the risks.
@@egarcia1360 agreed, punishes people that change their minds and decide to do the right thing. I get why cuz most of the the they drove there but not all scenarios are like that. They mighta been parked there.
40 years? Out in 5?
If he has good behaviour
NO parole.
Why not just have proximity key. Most cars have that as standard now
What happened to the folks that were hit broadside?
Forty years and he was lucky to get ONLY that.
The fact that the perp decided to steal the cruiser probably saved this officer’s life. Had the perp stayed there could’ve given the opportunity to continue shooting at the officer.
That’s a good point.
OMG, I hope the driver of the T-boned car is okay. They got hit at high speed in a rather small car.
@6:14 Did the occupant survive?
Went on a ride along and walked away thinking man these police vehicles could be stolen at any time. They leave them running, unlocked, keys in.. all the time. Also picked up a bunch of loaded mags that fell out of vests during a foot chase. 😳
I've said it before and I'll say it again, why don't US police cars have a run lock feature like we do in the UK. You press a button and the car remains on but you can remove the keys. As soon as you start to drive it without the keys it turns off
@@halocodify well I’m sure defund the police campaign didn’t help
@@halocodify Or a Blue Tooth fob where the car will shut off when the car is out of a certain distance. But with more technology comes more crap that breaks.
@@halocodify The only reason I can think is that the cop car has a transponder and just like this scenario. When the perp has no access to their vehicle they may try and kill the officer (witness).
Therefore in America its actually safer for the police to let the perp steal their car or drive away and get into a police chase.
@@halocodify Departmental thing, Weld county cars in the last state I lived in had them, Sound off units. I like them enough I install them in all my vehicles. Out here in the state Im currently living no one has them, not even heard of them or know they exist. I actually had 2 different conversations where a Officer was intrigued by it when looking at my car and I explained what it was and they were mystified it existed. Thankfully Ford has since 2020 programmed them into all interceptors all it needs is activation, though most departments wont have it activated voluntarily. If it comes activated by default more departments would probably A: use it B: get to see first hand why its useful C: then propagate its use as most likely one dept gets it, soon others will follow after seeing how easy it is to adopt use, and what its saves you monetarily and safety wise. Also as to the comment above me, these systems act parallel to the main electrical, meaning if it dont work car still starts and stops, though these Sound off units are insanely over engineered, they have 40amp rated relays in them and 10awg wire, and are fully potted. Highly doubt they'll fail.
Im glad you slow-mo'd it because holy shit even in the slow mo i almost thought the perp stole the officers gun it went so fast. That was damn terrifying to see that guy slowly try and take aim at the officer. Godsdamn im glad the officer is as ok as he could be from something crazy like this. Also hope whoever was t-boned was alright as well, that was a damn nasty collision. and holy damn! ALSO all those people getting in/ out of their cars as he sped by them was also damn scary. This video was fuckin wild :o
Thats what I thought ! I thought he took the cops gun and used it , I was so confused when the gunfight started.
John do you have any news of what happened to the people in the SUV, it looks like they took a really bad wreck?
Oh thank God. I wasn't too hopeful after seeing all those shots going the officers way. Glad he's recovering.
Much love to all the officers putting their life on the line on a daily basis. Stay safe.
I always wonder why cops don’t have a key fobs on them with push button starts so if a bad guy does get in your car, he can’t go very far or even start it some cases
I know I’m going to get crap for this… my question is why the weapon gets called a piece of crap when it really did it’s thing. Be angry at all guns, or be angry at the training. The “piece of crap” didn’t have a say and functioned; or I guess make legal people that carry something to protect themselves that can’t afford Gucci Glocks feel like shit for trying. Just cause further divide and call certain brands Ghetto guns and get it over with. The half in half out crap is annoying.
I was not expecting THAT. So glad the cop made it. A US cop is one hell of a job. This looked such a low level encounter. Respect to the boys in blue.
Always have a partner.... Hopefully a lesson the dept learned.. glad the officer made it
I think in this case officer was fortunate perp took off in the car, allowed him to survive - sad for the people in the car he ended up hitting but looks like from articles they weren't seriously injured
I was wondering about them.
The man woke up and chose violence. Just evil.
In South America a lot of vehicle owner use a transmitter device that disable vehicles at a certain distance once signal is too far. That’s because a lot of cars are robbed at gun point. That would be great to at least prevent the bad guy to steal their cruisers.
scary situation. i wouldve never expected that guy to pull a gun being in that state of mind. i thought that officer was going to die. im glad he was able to shoot back an is ok.
I could tell the officer was hit when he started sliding toward the fence.. props to him for surviving
Wow! Crazy! Being a cop is a thankless job!
Haaaaaaa he literally parked right next to the NO PARKING sign.. too good!
literally right under it!
@@ActiveSelfProtection Funny stuff right!
I like his sentence.
In my country he would have gotten probably around 12 years at most, getting out after having served two thirds.
It goes to show never ever let your guard down. It's just incredible how things can go from zero to sideways in under a second
You almost said "bonus"! My wife and I were howling with laughter!
Love your lessons, John!
😁
At least he got a good long sentence.
It drives me nuts when I see officers dilly dally around with someone they know they’re going to arrest. He gave this guy time to get awake, gather his wits about him, realize he was going to jail, decide he didn’t want to and formulate a plan how he was going to avoid it. One of the biggest tools an officer has is the element of surprise and it needs to be used to full advantage. Get these offenders under control quickly. If their level of anxiety is allowed to get too high by the officer taking too long to act, bad things happen.
What about the victim in the car accident? Looked like a rough hit.
If this happens to you, and have to pull over and be a good samaritan move to passenger seat. And most important remove keys from ignition.
I really am sick of the crime in my home city. I remember when this happened here.
8:22 in MN if the keys are inside the vehicle while everyone is drunk it is a DUI no matter what
Thank God the officer is gonna be ok and I'm glad they got this man he is now behind bars!!
Behind a door. Modern prisons don't have bars anymore.
That "piece of crap" pistol was used to shoot that officer twice. Just because it's not an HK doesn't mean it's garbage. Every firearm should be considered deadly regardless of the manufacturer or how much it costs.
I feel so sorry for the innocent bystander he hit - imagine just minding your business and some jerk wagon t bones you
Imagine being hit, then seeing a cop car & thinking it was one of those 'bad cops' who the media talk about all of the time, who then ran off immediately after hitting you...
Moral of the story criminals , buy a better gun.

Passenger seat doesnt matter in IL. Guy I know caught a DUI in the back seat with the keys in the bed of his truck.
It's amazing in this day and age that place officers don't drive cars that use key fobs.
Sorry wisconsin..im seeing waaaay too many drugged up or drunk people on video lately..your state may need an intervention
Bad title - Should say "...shoots cop and steals cop car".
This is horrific!
40 years, really means 15 years if we are lucky. Again Courts and Judges are on the Criminal's side a lot more than the victims.
