Utterly unbelievable. I had no idea testing viscosity was such an involved process.

Is it safe to say that your goal is run at 50% on the 10-100% scale?

Is it valid to perform a calibration curve through regression analysis with this kind of instrument?

No - it depends completely on the spindles and machine used as well as the product/formula.

Hi Belinda! I'm interested in getting this IKA unit. Upon checking their site, they have multiple variants like lo-vi, me-vi (what you're using), and hi-vi. May I ask which variant would you recommend for the testing of cosmetics and personal care products? Thank you.

So what is a good reading ? Is that depending on how it feels by hand ? And the whole point is just checking batches ?

You said to wait at least 5 full rotations before you look at the reading. What if I have a thick product and the reading keeps going down over time? I’m using RV-5 at 10 rpm and it goes from 60k down to 31k. I wonder if it’s creating a void as it keeps spinning more? If I re-mix the product it goes back to 60k or so, but then again slowly settles down to 31k after 50+ rotations.

You need a helipath stand...look at the Rotavisc Heli series.
