There were also a lot of good mine workers when we closed most of the mines because innovation made their jobs obsolete. There's only one solution: find another source of income when the old one dries up.

AI models learn it's stuff from old accepted music to make it's models. There is going to be a phase when users just ask AI to generate a song in real time based on the users preferences and favorite artists, and it's gonna sound convincing at first, and good enough for most casual listeners. However, if that goes on far enough then everybody is going to get bored stiff, because one day there will be no new truly innovative music made to base further models on, and AI is also gonna base it's successes on what the most common lowest denominator background music styles, and is going to become akin to a new wave of "elevator" music. It's gonna creep up onto us if we are not careful. So AI might not just kill incentive to get into music for people, but also in the long run kill AI music. I doubt it is going to go that far, but we need to be aware.
For example, a User that has more advanced taste might pressure the AI logaritm a little further, but I doubt it's going to innovate and challenge and surprice such a listener for years to come. Because it would be a niche customer. But I hope that wont happen and that also more casual listeners will start to be at least a little more demanding in the long run. Also, is AI music just is going to sound like and clutter every space with Auto tune like singing everywhere, We kindof paved the way to the worst possible AI furure ever since Believe was released...

I don't know anything about music. I can play 1 song on the keyboard, it requires 2 fingers to play. But, I can make really awesome dance and electro music using AI.
However, if I wanted a jingle for my company, I would hire a musician. If the musician wants to use AI that is fine, but the job needs to be done by someone with some experience, and an ear for music.
I don't know the difference between E flat or D minor or what a do re mi is, none of that. So AI or no AI, the musician will do a better job than me.

Every generation something has come along that we hear will be the death of music and the music industry
    Cassette recorders and bootlegging
    Napster and file sharing
    Streaming
If the music industry dies, it will be self inflicted just like you said, because they aren’t really interested in music
I think you are right that this new technology will put people out of work and it will have other unintended consequences, I’m sure
But as long as people fall in love and get hurt and live life, then there will be people who wrote and perform songs about all of that, and people who will connect with those songs on a human level. Maybe it won’t be profitable, or even mainstream and common, but computers will never replace soul
Good video. Great music. Awesome channel.

Absolutely! It's the unexpected side effects that are truly the hidden gems. We tend to paint any change that feels initially off-putting with a broad brush of doom, but there’s always a silver lining, even in the apocalyptic cloud of AI advancements. Picture this: two decades down the line, you can almost hear the exasperated cries of parents yelling at their teenagers, who are holed up in the garage, not strumming on an electric guitar like the good old days, but training their AI music models. It's a whole new era of garage bands, and it's brilliantly noisy. AI isn’t just the future; it’s the next rebellion, the new punk rock for the digital age.

Can't play music, learn to code... Nevermind, the AI took my coding job. We're in the same ⛵
Guess I'll code an AI to do things for me.
