      Winston and I did the tent thing for a few years before I bought the pod. The pod has been a game changer; so much nicer to come back to a dry and warm space after being out in the wet and cold.

    Further to my earlier note, that I hope reached you, I looked through my Dad's WW2 RCAF Bomber Command logbook. He was a Mid-Upper gunner on Lancaster's. But trained in Wellingtons, as well.
    In it he notes, while training at No. 28 Operational Training Unit, RAF Wymeswold - MAY 10/1944 - "SOLO "X" Country. 17,000 Ft. "Crashed in Wales" in a Wellington.
    The crew all walked away.
    And again, in a Lancaster June 23rd of that year, on take-off. Again they all came out unscathed.... SEEING that crash site in your vlog made that experience VERY REAL to me. Profound thanks for sharing...

    We were with you getting cold and wet remembering horizontal rain on our walk once on the moors, all day. Even our dog was struggling with weather. Today tho snug indoors but with you in spirit so to speak. It was great going along even without Winston. It certainly was kind and caring to remember he is an older dog and leave him snug and warm . Thank you so much for posting video, we very much enjoyed❤

    Thanks for the video. The visit to the crash site was very poignant and I think the weather matched the sombreness of the site.
    Lovely campsite huh. Scary amount of water in the river. Glad to see Winston was more interested in his little orange knobbly bone that getting anywhere near the water 🤗

    • @Roz.S
      @Roz.S  4 месяца назад +1

      It was terrible weather to be walking in, but the weather did make the crash site a more emotional place for me.
      Winston wouldn't go near the river at the back of the pod, there are too many rocks to climb down, and he much prefers an easy entrance and exit when swimming 😂🙈
      Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Hi, when we leave our dogs in the van we too have the camera for peace of mind. My biggest worry is if the battery in the smoke detector goes off due to running out of charge our dogs will be demented and with no where to hide, get distressed .
    They even struggle when a van near us has its alarm go off. Yes I know I am a right flapper but that camera makes all the difference.
    Loving your videos, thanks Richie.

    What weather! That little river behind your pitch turned into a raging torrent. Do you find the sound of running water soothing at bed time? Gotta say, I would be reluctant to leave the comfort of the pod in that rain, whilst also knowing I really need to stretch my legs. I bet Winston enjoyed having the bed to himself 😊 Does the camera you have to observe him have the ability to talk to him as well?

    • @Roz.S
      @Roz.S  4 месяца назад +1

      I do enjoy the sound of running water, but on that night, the river was very loud! When I was in the pod, it sounded like a constant white noise.
      Winston does love his morning snoozes and getting to stretch out in bed.
      The camera is just a little action cam; I can't view it remotely or talk to him. I just set it up to get footage for the purpose of this video. I know that all he does when I'm out is sleep because he's always still fast asleep when I get back 😅😅

    Excellent footage. On the Wellington you can see the asymmetric triangles in the framework designed by Barnes Wallis (he of the bouncing bomb). So tragic those very brave men losing their lives, like so many.
    As for leaving Winston in the pod, I would've thought it was the best place for him. Our dog Dolly needs "me time" occasionally. Usually for her morning snooze. Bonne route. 👍🏻

      I remember seeing the triangles; didn't know they were by Barnes Wallis. Thanks for the info.
      A lot of people freak out when I say that I leave Winston in the caravan, but he's actually quite happy in there.

      @@Roz.S Living here in France people can be direct and opinionated a lot of the time and over stupid petty things. It gets to me occasionally but I'm learning to ignore stuff people come out with most of the time.
      I wonder what motivates people to be opinionated about daft things like leaving a dog in a pod, or the nice old lady in Lidl this morning who made a comment because I had bought 3 loaves of sliced bread "pain de mie". Most here prefer a baguette. So do I, but old habits die hard. As least she was nice. 😊

      @@MegaBreadvan I don't think anyone means to come across as opinionated or judgemental. In Winston's case, I think they just worry that something might happen if he's left on his own. But I've known him for 11-years and I know he will just relax and sleep; he's not going to panic and tear the pod to pieces 😂

    It was very thoughtful of you to go out and show your respects to those airmen, and on such a mucky day, Roz. We now know which one of you two suffer from separation anxiety (hint - it isn’t Winston😃). That camera was a great idea, are you able to login and view remotely so you know what you’ve got to look forward to on your return? I hope the lighting on that site is good, you really wouldn’t want to fall over one of those massive rocks on a nighttime visit to the facilities block!

      Winston has no problem being on his own, it's me that worries about him 😅
      I can't view the camera remotely. It's just a stand alone action cam that I set up for the purpose of this video. I don't usually record Winston. I know what he gets up to because he's always fast asleep when I get back. 😅
      The lighting on the site isn't great and I did get lost one night going from the showers back to my pod 😂😂

    Did you ever consider a small freedom caravan rather than the pod? I know you have headroom issues when the pop up roof is down, the freedom is similar in length to the pod but doesn't have the same height issues

    • @Roz.S
      @Roz.S  4 месяца назад

      Yes, Freedom Caravans were on my potential to buy list. But I ended up with a Go Pod because someone local me was selling theirs and it had been well looked after, had full service history, and was at a fair price. So, I bought that. If a Freedom had become available, then I might have ended up with one of them instead 😀

    You could have stayed in the pod with Winston. Wasn’t necessary for you to go out and leave him.

    • @Roz.S
      @Roz.S  16 дней назад

      True, but it's good training for him to be on his own for a bit. It's not good for me to be with him 24/7 - that's how dogs develop separation anxiety and it would make it very difficult for me to travel solo with him. As shown in the video, Winston went to sleep for a few hours and was unbothered (which is exactly the behaviour you want from a dog when left alone). 🐶👍🏼
