  • In the summer of 1968, staff from the National Museum of Ireland visited Inisheer, the smallest of the Aran Islands. Their aim was to record islander Mikey Conneely carrying out one of his trades, building a traditional currach. The resulting footage, photographs and detailed field notes provide an exceptionally detailed record of an ancient skill that was passed down to Mikey through the generations that went before him.
