    A really lovely film incorporating every aspect of the boats...the cultural background...the work done and the goods they transported. Very often this is omitted by the newer films which just feature races. Well done. Catherine Jennings

    FantasticJoe. The stills are superb. I hope the hookers make a come back and that a new generation can enjoy and carry on the heritage!

      Check out the Galway Hooker project...they're restoring and sailing them.

      There is the Galway Hooker Sailing Club, I was with them at Kinvarra last weekend.

    The commentator says ballast can be easily replaced.....replaced yes, but hauling rocks is never easy

    They cook on stone slab, they burn soil, drink disinfectant and put butter on sails ....
    Great documentary of this famous boats and their hard working crew.

    Some of the working bádoirí are still around, not many bail ó Dia orthú and they are old.
