Any significant difference not having the built in effects on the rane ? I’m debating on trying out the rane one, I currently have the srt. But reading and watching the reviews the rane doesn’t have built in effects.
Obviously it does have the echo out and reverb I’m assuming with the knobs an stuff but idk how different it will be

I Tried both units and I went with the Rev 7 because im more of a turntable guy plus I like how the REV 7 is spaced out as its not to cramped up altogether like the RANE 1 where everything is too close and you can accidentally press the wrong button as I'm coming off from the DDJ-SX2 but been using turntables forever, but I would say 95% I went with the REV 7 is actually the mixer it has everything you need even though I don't own a S9 OR S11 this is interesting, thinking of upgrading to a S11 to my turntables 1200 MK5... Dope review by the way enjoyed it. Thanks BUNN

My primary controller journey since I've started DJing in 2011: Mixtrack Pro MK1 -> Pioneer DDJ WeGo3 -> Pioneer DDJ SR2 -> Pioneer DDJ SX3 -> Rane One (With back-up controllers being the Hercules Starlight -> Reloop Ready).
I've thoroughly enjoyed the transition to motorized platters and having the feeling of turntables. I've DJ'ed some on battle style set ups, so it's not extremely foreign, but definitely a difference.
I appreciate the approach of considering the practicality of the controller. I won't lie, the raised legs are among top 3 reasons I love my Rane One. I've come to rely on that space since I'm often in clubs and/or my facade/table set up is not space friendly for a coffin with a shelf. So that newfound space is now something I don't want to live without now, haha.
Good video and approach to both units. Markers of a phenomenal time for DJ controllers, and the direction forward for them as well.
Edit: ALSO, a controller with an IEC power hook up is incredibly clutch and I never want to know life without it on a DJ controller haha.

Great review and love the honesty on both of the machines. I am currently using a pioneer sb3 and it has been great. From your review, i hope that one of these days i will be able to afford the ddj rev7 considering i am a scratch dj. Everything looks nice on the controller, from the knobs to the wheels. Great works Joe Bunn👏🏼

Great review, I like it because of your honesty and not trying to sell it or more lean to one brand over the other. I myself being a mobile dj as well appreciated the fact you pointed out one important thing and that was if coming from ttb and being using the in battle style the rv7 would be at home. I have been battling which controller to get since I have using ttb battle style and none of dj who do reviews ever made that simple point that you made especially coming from another mobile dj in regards to be using ttb. Thank you joe for always bringing content and bring honest about it.

The Rane one is basically a two channel Numark NS7. It uses all of the technology from the NS7 including the exact same motor drives from the NS7ii.
Now that InMusic owns Akai,Rane,Denon and of course, Numark, of which they have discontinued. It is only natural that they will pull together the best technology within their range. I have just purchased the Pioneer Rev seven after using Numark NS7 for the last 11 years. Part of me wishes I had brought the Rane as the build quality is far better than the pioneer. I know and trust the Engineering’s have used it for so long without so much as a glitch.
I come from the era of turntables DJ and clubs throughout the 80s 90s and still now. I still use an NS7ii to this day. I only upgraded because of the stems capability.
I still have my S9 & 1210s and that is also another reason I went with the Rev 7 being that the mixer is similar in so many ways.

I really appreciate your honesty in your videos. Personally I'm a Denon man. I have the Prime 4 but Man do I wish The Prime 4 had rotating platters. for those of us who started out on turntables it would be the ultimate. I have tried both of these and was very surprised by the Rev 7 . but I didn't get enough time to decide if I had a preference between the 2. Keep it up. as a guy who has been DJing for over 20 years myself. I enjoy when I see a REAL DJ do a review

I had seen a video or 2 of yours before, but really enjoyed this one. I have been DJing for quite some time, have never went and bought "quality" turntables, but these days wouldn't want to carry those and crates of vinyl around anyhow... I've messed about with all the software options at least a little, and may someday move towards separates or a standalone with Engine, but for now I'm a Serato user and really love that platform. I currently use a Denon MC7000, and it's a great unit. I've been wanting to add a Denon player to my kit, and eventually would like SOMETHING with a moving jog, so I've been debating on adding the SC6000M or just a regular 6000...this would eventually be paired with something like a Rev7 or Prime 4 ... I'm not a big fan of Record box...and also don't think Engine has quite gotten there yet for a main platform that suits my style, I really love Serato. I am kinda leaning now towards the Rev7, and a SC6000. The player would be for backup and certain occasions, as well as for requests using Tidal (prefer to keep the Laptop offline) ... the other option would be a 6000M to get accustomed to motorized jogs....
Which player do you think I should add to my current kit, motorized or non? Should that depend on which main controller/unit I plan to end up with later, or should I disconnect these two decisions from each other ? As far as the 2 mixers shown here, the Rev7 is the clear winner for me, the jog screens, silent cue, hardware effects, ability to use 2 mics and Aux at the same time, etc... definitely puts this well beyond the Rane One for me.... I frequently use the 2 mics and Aux all at the same time (karaoke) ... and would really like the ability to add effects besides filter to external inputs....so there's a few reasons the Rev7 wins out.... I have found ONE downside that I guess is somewhat just part of going 2ch vs 4ch... not having those extra channels, or at least a CUE for the aux input... having a 2ch battle mixer layout, but having a more robust aux would somewhat turn it into a 2+1 kind of mixer. At least the features on the Rev make it more like a full featured 2ch mixer, vs the Rane which is basically a Serato controller, with very limited features as far as being a mixer for external sources... I really wanted to like the Rane and get stuck in with motorized jogs, but it just didn't fit my workflow.... but I do want to try scratch practice on something that isn't static platters, and I think this winter I'm definitely going to end up buying SOME new kit, whether that is a Denon player, a Prime 4, a Rev 7, or...? Not sure.... maybe I should wait until after NAMM to decide?
Thanks for the content, liked and subbed and will go check out your channel some more soon.
    Cheers...
