- Hey everyone, and welcome to SURFING 101! I have been getting so so so many questions about what gear you need to surf, surfing tips for beginners, ocean knowledge, how to not be intimidated as a beginner, etc. etc so I thought I'd do a 3 part series where I give you all of the tips and tricks and useful information that I wish I knew when I first started learning how to surf. Carol Viana , I thought I would go on a trip somewhere in the states...like Hampton beach, but that doesn’t seem like its going to happen this year. Keep that dream alive! Don’t give up! I have started to skateboard to feel that freedom😉🏄♀️🇨🇦❤️🌈🌎
natalie latham I did not learn with a teacher, just go out to the water and feel the waves. Also try to watch vids and work on poping up and paddle strength

Back when this video was first posted, I watched it (living in the middle of nowhere. Nowhere near a beach) 3 years later, I’ve been surfing just over 2.5 years, I live on the beach (literally there is a single road between me and the ocean) I came out of my depressive episode, I found myself and I am LOVING my new life. I can’t express how much you unknowingly helped me Eryn, you are such a gorgeous, pure soul and I love you and everything you stand for.
Thank you for helping me find my escape, and helping me out of my slump without even knowing. (I also started musical theatre so it occurs to me that I occasionally sing showtunes whilst surfing…)

I loved seeing your quiver! Such a beautiful collection of boards! Those mid-length boards look so fun. I've been wanting to experiment more in that area. I've got a 5'5" rounded pin "potato chip", a 5'6" fish, a 6'11" bonzer, an 8'0" "mini-longboard", and a 9'4" log.
I'm from Canada and I used to surf as a kid every summer when we'd go down to the states. I was just thinking about wanting to get back into it! Perfect timing! Love your videos!!

Loved this! Another necessity for me is a board bag! Even if I'm just putting it in my truck on the way to the beach, the last thing I want is to ding my board, or to have the sun messing up my wax!!🐚🌊✌🏼

So I am rewatching this cause I live in an Island and Have always loved the Ocean so it's time to connect with it at this level
Thank uou so much! Watching your videos has inspired me to start surfing and I can't wait to begin learning how to surf!! This video has helped me so much, because honestly know very little about surfing and had no idea where to start. I have been paddle boarding for a few years and it is without a doubt one of my favourite things to do. I tried surfing with my paddle board, but I have an inflatable board wich makes it quite hard to control in the water and waves. So I would really like to try to surf for real and not just cling to a paddle board that throws you off whenever a wave hits it.

I really want to get into surfing so thanks Eryn for putting this out there. I can’t surf where I live (in the Caribbean) you COULD but there waves are non existent so when I start to travel more after 2020 I will definitely be renting some boards to surf on 🌊
