Silent hill, resident evil, tomb raider, Worms, crash bandicoot, metal gear solid, Abe’s ordworld, kula world, dino crisis, final fantasy 7, gta, tony hawk, alone in the dark, c&c, and micro machine is my absolute favorite’s and I’m still playing them 26 years later on my PS Vita 🤘😎
When you had to light the smoke up so you could see the lasers when your crawled under them... that put it over the top for me. And that was real early on in the game. Such a beauty!

@@wo7925 Gran Turismo was good and revolutionary racing games were mostly arcade like instead of simulations before then. also the Wipeout series is literally credited for bringing electronic dance music into the mainstream. Dance club owners would even set up PS1s and Saturn's with Wipeout for patrons to play and have the game's music blasted through the speakers. Which in turn got the ravers into gaming. Wipeout probably has the biggest cultural impact. Also FFVII is my favorite game of all time but it didn't do anything new if we're being real. JRPGs on the TurboGrafx CD and Sega CD had FMVs before FFVII and voice acting a decade before FFX.
I was just about to write the same. Think it is still the PS1 game i played the most (did another playthrough recently) , still playing Remake, and Rebirth is probably my most anticipated game of all times.
Nothing was or will ever be more mind bowing then going from ps2 to ps3 playing the ps3 for the first time especially when uncharted launched there wasn't anything close to those graphics in any video game to that point ever.
No JRPGs on this list is wild considering it was the golden age of JRPGs and the PS1 using CD was a big reason why devs partically the ones who made JRPGs left Nintendo.
I grew up with the iconic Amiga 500/1200, it was the best thing since sliced bread, then mega drive did the trick, but then PS1 came around and nothing has touched the 'games' you really want to play for me. yes sure ps2 iconic too, but something about the 90's era that got hold of me. Everybody still remembers lara croft running around the corner and been shit scared there was a bloody T-rex comin at you, everybody remembers that look of Resident Evil turning and looking back at you, setting the tone of the game that will take you to glorious arcade horror.
Wow, I'm surprised both Final Fantasy VII and Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night aren't here, alongside Xenogears, they make my personal top 3 games on the PSX
I remember playing MGS in the same year as Ocarina of Time and trying to decide which title was the better one overall. And while I loved OoT, it wasn't totally new, as it was a typical Zelda title, just now in 3D(still amazing). MGS was just something I had never experienced before, and really showed what was possible with the CD medium, just F'ing EPIC! I was so in to that game, that I would play up until the last possible second before I had to leave for work, so I wouldn't be late. And the day I finished it, I actually think I was late, as I couldn't pause the ending, and I wasn't about turn it off, so I had to wait for it to end. One of my best gaming memories of any console, and for sure #1 on PS1.

I remember watching the Ridge Racer intro and it blowing my mind for being so cool. Worth the watch on RUclips. For the time, the video and soundtrack was awesome.
Pretty good list overall. I'd swap out some of these for Castlevania: SotN, Strider 2, and Frogger: He's Back. Honorable mentions: RC de GO, Future Cop: LAPD, and Shipwreckers / Overboard.
Parappa was one of the worst games of all time IMO. You should have swapped that one out with Castlevania SOTN or Final Fantasy 7. Other than that, i pretty much agree with this list.
I could unfortunately never finish the tutorial in Driver as far as I can recall. All the developers had to do was remove the timelimit for it. Such a shame....

The best games may just be the ones an individual played the most and enjoyed the most. They may be guilty pleasures but they were personal and hold whimsy. I think the games I liked the most I have played too much and wouldn't really enjoy them as much now. I find it hard to immerse myself in video games now at this age. I still hold on to the synthetic feeling of adventure, discovery and conquering those pretend worlds gave me.
I loved neversofts spiderman back in the day as a kid, was one of my favourites, took me until I completed it before I realised that in the cheat codes if you enter eelnats.....Stan Lee's name backwards, you unlock everything in game
Yes I agree with dino crisis 2 not as good as the first the 2nd was more like cod with dinosaur the 1st was longer had a ton of puzzles more surviving then killing and scared you more and more careful with ammo it what a game should be.

Tekken 3 didn't pioneer side stepping in 3D fighters. Toshinden and Virtua Fighter 3 already did that.
