+Bill Kennedy actually the thing about this is she wasnt just being sarcastic. she just wanted to sing a simple song www.contactmusic.com/alanis-morissette/news/morissette-explains-my-humps-video_1070846
+Amanda Shields Didn't read the article you linked or not familiar with the word "parody"? "because creating the parody provided respite from her own over-emotional songwriting process."
ROOKTABULA hmmm assuming that I mentioned words from the article would imply that the article was read. I wonder if you actually read the article if you're questioning whether I read it or not. IMO. She doesn't have the right type of voice to be singing "sarcastically" if this is what people consider sarcasm, then of course she had to make the video. I had to flippin mute it cuz she sounded so bad. The video was funny af even without the awful rip my ears song remake. If shed lighten up on her cryingly emotional voice maybe I might've considered it worth considering it as a parody.
+Amanda Shields you're right the sarcasm of the song isn't right for her, but she does have other good songs that don't make people want to rip their ears out
I love how she turned a song about a girl who's proud to be seen as an object into a song about a girl who's sad of the object she's become without even changing the lyrics!!! Just brilliant!
Oh .... Alanis...the musical genius and satirical brilliance...makes me smile every time. I've loved this since I first heard it several years ago...and it still makes me smile. She is such a goddess! Erm...Genius!
That has got to be the most surreal thing I’ve seen on RUclips. It seems like it should be on SNL or Mad TV, and I was almost expecting to hear laughter from the audience at various parts.
I love you Ms. Morissette! I wish more music were put into perspective like this. You truly rock, I want to talk you for getting me through my young teens to present day with a good head on my shoulders :)
If I ever had to compile a list of the 5 finest examples of musical brilliance I have ever been blessed to come across, this would easily make it in. This is so profound on so many levels. Alanis, I bow to your genius!
kmcl11 This is arguably the song (the original) that decided to shift pop music towards nonsense idiotic lyrics to a "fat beat" you can dance to. Alannis comes from the 90's when we demanded our female pop stars had substance and praised them for their lyrics. Singing this POS song in 90's style points out how retarded it is, and has the added bonus of showing the world that she does know what irony as, after all.
Of course Alanis just sang it! lol Turned A very popular pop song into rock/grunge! You do know ALANIS WAS A VERY POPULAR POP STAR Before she became grunge? That is VERY IRONIC:)
Wow. Amazing how many people feel compelled to dis this song and insult people who like it, because they do not find it funny. Also amazing how many people feel compelled to get upset because they do find it funny, and...how could anyone dislike it? News-flash, everyone! Humor is subjective!
I hated this song because of the awful sound and "swagger" about it. But now that I've heard each word in painful detail(sang beautifully by Alanis Morisset) ... I feel like vomiting.
No doubt about it. That's why it slays. Her perfect enunciation with the simple piano accompaniment which doesn't mask the absolutely comically revolting lyrics, but actually highlights the idiocy but in such a beautiful tone.
bien hecho alanis eres la mejor !!! aqui en latino america estamos igual llenos de gente vendida gente como tu le abre los ojos a la gente !!! bendiciones !!!!!!!!!!!
I've listened now the song on a repeat, and it almost feels like the "message" (if there's such) has changed. If you just listen to the song without the video, it seems very sad. "What'cha gonna do with all that junk, all that junk in your trunk?" That lyric reminded me how people are buying loads of stuff they don't really need. And the enviroment is suffering. Also the people in U.S.A are also still spending, though they have enormous debts.
all of you who think she's not making fun of BET need to go watch BET's version again, then watch this one...and did y'all not see where she starts LAUGHING at the end?...wow...anyway, I think this is HILARIOUS!
Even her sarcasm oozes talent.
+Bill Kennedy actually the thing about this is she wasnt just being sarcastic. she just wanted to sing a simple song

Donald Nesbit yes I do love a lot of her other songs but this one is just too murderous for me.
I love how she turned a song about a girl who's proud to be seen as an object into a song about a girl who's sad of the object she's become without even changing the lyrics!!! Just brilliant!
yeah so classy :)
The IRONY in this cover is so powerful it melted my face. Alanis Mroissette was and still is a genius, gotta love her humour.
Genius???? 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
she needs to do an entire album of songs like this!
Oh .... Alanis...the musical genius and satirical brilliance...makes me smile every time. I've loved this since I first heard it several years ago...and it still makes me smile. She is such a goddess! Erm...Genius!
She is hysterical. I love her :) Such an artist!
This is probably the best version of this song ever. It really is quite Shakespearean in nature.
Without exaggerating, this is the single best thing I have ever seen on RUclips.
ALANIS, WE LOVE YOU!!! COME BACK!!!!!
She's ba-ack!!!! If you haven't heard it yet search Alanis Morissette Such Pretty Forks in the Road.
That has got to be the most surreal thing I’ve seen on RUclips. It seems like it should be on SNL or Mad TV, and I was almost expecting to hear laughter from the audience at various parts.
That voice 💗💗
I love it. Love it. Thank you Alanis. This thing always makes my day brighter.
I love you Ms. Morissette! I wish more music were put into perspective like this. You truly rock, I want to talk you for getting me through my young teens to present day with a good head on my shoulders :)
I miss Alanis and here she makes a huge statement in a lighthearted way. Brilliant
still love this, after all these years it is still RELEVANT. my favorite moment at 3:34 where she makes her point emphatically
I didn't think it ws possible but I love Alanis even more now.
The "no drama" part is the funniest.
Guilherme Eddino hahah yes! The intense smeared makeup head shaking crying.
And the backup dancers having absolutely NO IDEA what to do about this.
If I ever had to compile a list of the 5 finest examples of musical brilliance I have ever been blessed to come across, this would easily make it in. This is so profound on so many levels. Alanis, I bow to your genius!
She really is awesome! Right before our eyes, she went from Alanis Morissette to Weird Al Yankovic.
Well done.
i could not stop laughin..alanis just tears it up!!! her voice is amazin this video shows shes not just a voice ..shes got a badass sense of humor.
Such a voice!
When you hear Alanis talk, you would never think she could hit these notes like she does when she sings. Amazing.
Oh the wonderful sarcasm is wonderful!
Her voice is amazing.
This makes me so very happy, for so many reasons.
Now all you American Idol hopefuls --- THIS is what you do to make a song your own! SOOOOOO beautiful. . . .
Class.
wonder what possessed her to do a parody of only this video.

even though this song sounds ridiculous slowed down, i love alanis morissette's voice so much it actually makes this song better in a way
This is so funny.I cried.
Is there another performer with as much personality as Alanis? Shes so funny and brilliant...i love her!!!
better than the original. Hands down.
No way! Not even close!!
Hands off 😂
It's a sad fact that the original has stayed in public conscious even now...but it allows one to truly appreciate this treasure.
this is the most depressing song i have ever heard in my life, and i listen to joy division
Can't stop lolling. Where had I been to have missed it for years!
this song is way better than the real version in my opinion, now isnt that ironic xD
It's like rainig on you're wedding....it like winning the lottery and die the next day....
OMG Your comment is awsome
dramaticrui its like meeting the woman of your dreams. then realizing shes 12.
I sea what you did there.
Of course Alanis just sang it! lol Turned A very popular pop song into rock/grunge! You do know ALANIS WAS A VERY POPULAR POP STAR Before she became grunge? That is VERY IRONIC:)
"Don't you think?"
She was on one of the greatest sketch comedies of my childhood... You can't do that on television.
Now THIS is ironic.
this is just awesome. thanks for the re-upload!
Hahahaha on Alanis, how I love you....
when a remake is better than the original!
Love you Alanis!
jajaj Alanis is brilliant
such a ingenious rendition!! really profound!!!
that´s it, what songs like my hump, told about the singer who produced it..
really great job alanis!
When she sings "and you don't want no drama", I think of "You Oughta Know".
Striking terror into the hearts of 🗑 men everywhere. 😂
This is awesome beyond words.
I'd do this for karaoke one night if I thought they crowd could appreciate irony...but i highly doubt they would "get" it lol
Gracias Pelao Morán.... Un éxito la canción. Thumbs up!!!
if dont mind the lyrics, the music is very nice to listen to, much better than the original.
Oh. Em. Gee. this song will never be same for me again...thank gawd.
Wow. Amazing how many people feel compelled to dis this song and insult people who like it, because they do not find it funny. Also amazing how many people feel compelled to get upset because they do find it funny, and...how could anyone dislike it? News-flash, everyone! Humor is subjective!
I freaking love you Alanis!!!!
How ironic ;)
Oh, Alanis, I love you so much.
jajajaj que risa, pero hasta en las parodias luce su voz :D se oye bien dramático jejeje
Es que Alanis es única ♥
great point! it makes it sound so sad because she is showing that it is sad how women are selling themselves out. Great video!
I find it extremly difficult to do my job
OMG I have a new respect for Alanis. You go girl!!
alternate universe Alanis :/ haha
Genious! Thank you Alanis!
The slow pace kills it but her voice is awesome.
+Mark shiskabob Gotta love the speed option on the player.
Hysterical she needs to do more.
Hahaa still a classic. Too bad that the music industry is as vapid as ever. Alanis called it first by making fun of that stupid my humps song.
Thank you for the insight
This is suppose to be dumb and funny, not artistic people . It was just a joke
+coque10tx Even when she's trying to be funny, talent oozes out of her. It's actually funny because she's singing with such emotion.
+coque10tx It may be funny, but it's certainly not dumb. It's a brilliantly vicious commentary on the misogyny of so much of today's R&B.
Since when can't art be dumb and/or funny?
Supposed to be but it ended up artistic too. Alanis can't really do anything less.
So beautiful! I'm actually crying!!!
I hated this song because of the awful sound and "swagger" about it. But now that I've heard each word in painful detail(sang beautifully by Alanis Morisset) ... I feel like vomiting.
The original is tongue-in-cheek, you completely missed its point if you think it's about "swagger".
+Sebastian Anderson this song is tongue and cheek. The original is not. I think your fooling yourself.
No doubt about it. That's why it slays. Her perfect enunciation with the simple piano accompaniment which doesn't mask the absolutely comically revolting lyrics, but actually highlights the idiocy but in such a beautiful tone.
bien hecho alanis eres la mejor !!! aqui en latino america estamos igual llenos de gente vendida gente como tu le abre los ojos a la gente !!! bendiciones !!!!!!!!!!!
sung better than fergie and shes so much hotter than fergie too
Just goes to show that Alanis can sing anything and make it sound good.
She's trying to fake us out, by pretending that she really knew what the word ironic meant all along.
I could not have said it better. Nice post.! She's brilliant..
Hahahaha this is genius! I love Alanis! So glad she was the one to prove how pointless and horrible this song is!
She was paying homage to this iconic, classic, awesome pop song
Oh very criative!!! Alanis is fantastic!!!!
Aren't parodies supposed to be funny?
yes they are and this clip is nice parodie.Parodie on Black Eyed Peas-My humps.:-D
I love Alanis. She is fantastic.
Thank you Alanis for trashing what needs to be trashed. You did something that no one else has the guts to do.
i like it.. and the song is beautiful
LOVE THAT!!! Good Stuff Alanis!!! Keep up the good work!
She is great. She even makes it sound meaningful.
LOL.
love this....she is great!!!
I like this version 100 times better. Alanis killed it!!
I still love Alanis in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown ♥
I've listened now the song on a repeat, and it almost feels like the "message" (if there's such) has changed. If you just listen to the song without the video, it seems very sad. Thank you... So. Very. Much.
Me encanta!!!Su voz es espectacular. además el video está muy chistoso. Te amo Alanis
Alanis Morissette basically did a Friday parody before there was Friday. I knew there was a reason I liked her :)
buen dato pelao Moran......muy buena canción..
Ricardo me hizo recordar este video que no veo hace ya 6 años... como pasa el tiempo
My respect for Alanis just went up insanely.
God damn the original just goes on and on and on and on and on and...
y yo pensé que era el único a quien le interesó la nota del pelao'... jajaa... genial Alanis... gracias pelao' Morán!
BEST. VIDEO. EVER. PERIOD.
all of you who think she's not making fun of BET need to go watch BET's version again, then watch this one...and did y'all not see where she starts LAUGHING at the end?...wow...anyway, I think this is HILARIOUS!
I love this...., alanis are the best
Jajaja me reí bastante, aguante Alanis, regards from CABA.
WOAHHHHH.... AMAZINGGG.. I LOVEEE THIS!!!! Gotta appreciate the humor, whoever came up with this is pure genius LOL
Alanis Morissette, a WONDERFUL lyricist who actually writes GOOD songs, humorously covers this song with pitiful lyrics.
She is such a good singer
just.... brilliant.
Still one of my all time favorites!
Perfect still, and love the breakdown scene, and love the "out of character" finale.
This is my favorite thing on the internet.
