The algorithm brought me here because of Van. My rational way of thinking is taking me away. Thx Van for trying to educate the ignorant... but it's hopeless. Save yourselves.
I love Math in this podcast is dope simply for the fact they have conversations like this. With that said Van's logic and wisdom is amazing, he is saying some of the exact things I tell my son and other young people who only see the Jay Z's and Obama's, there are way more people that are just as successful or even more successful that you don't know that own businesses that you know and use everyday or do something in a industry that you can do. Not everyone can be the top rapper that marries a superstar and becomes a billionaire, but you can be a great real estate investor or attorney that makes a great living.
What is even crazy is thru those fields you can become a millionaire it just won’t be as instant as getting drafted to the NBA at 19. Me and my other Nigerian friends that moved here 25 years ago are now peaking career and wealth wise in our 40s . I have friends now owning law firms , clinics , private practice , own commercial real estate , even made purchases back home in Nigeria etc. one of my boys runs 10 pharmacies in Dallas with his wife. Also imagine crowd funding wit other high net worth families who have climbed up the corporate ladder ? I see this all the time . Quick example I worked with a guy who was an engineer with Disney and last I talked to him he and a bunch of other European investors pool their money and just buy a bunch of properties for vacation rental here in Florida !
I went to rapper The Game concert in Odense, Denmark and until today I regret it. I am African from Cameroon have been worshiping that goofball and even named myself after him now imagine the cognitive dissonance knowing what I know? 😭 biggest regret. Enjoy the music and keep it moving. Called some folks back home and begged them to stop idolizing those idiots
This is a great conversation that may be a little above the heads of entertainers. Most entertainers that we know of didn’t go to College let alone some didn’t finish high school. You have more opportunity making it doing what Mr. Lathan is saying. I am glad the brothers finally got serious and let him talk which also requires skill and respect which don’t always see on platforms like this. So shoutout to Math Hoffa for always rising above. Peace Kings!
@@M3Atelier-Initiative I can’t argue with that point. I was wondering why all the talking over, but many folks in podcasts are not public speakers so they don’t know how to interview folks.
I feel like Hoffa didn't get it until the end. They were pushing back because they couldn't see where Van was going. I would add that I think Obama kind of highlighted for the masses, in our community, you don't have to be an entertainer or athlete to succeed. You can use your brain too. 😊
@@farmerz97 in an earlier comment h made, I gave Math Hoffa props because he does listen after a certain point. I appreciate that they are having this conversation and that we can all engage like this.
I understand both guys!! Math point of view is more for kids who don’t have family role models. Which those kids are more likely to be influenced by someone outside their family. But van is saying when a young child sees their parents working providing and having good standards.. kids look up to them. For me seeing my grandfather strong man getting respect from everyone and me seeing that made me want to be like him.
In a good debate you MUST listen to understand the other person's point even though you don't agree. You can't listen just enough to try and counter what they are saying.
Everyone in hip hop loves praising and kissing Hovs feet but as fans we need to remember that WE are the ones that put these black celebrities in the limelight first!! Dudes in the hood was bumping dead presidents LONG BEFORE Becky and Evan in the suburbs heard "Hey Papi" 😂
This is exactly what I’ve been preaching since I got a Lil bit of money. You don’t have to be Jay-Z or Lebron James to travel, sit court side, rub elbows with famous people. Doctors, lawyers, business owners are provided the same opportunities. We don’t have to idolize rappers and ball players. We can idolize the police officer or the school teacher. Those people are more important and have careers that you can be just as a successful in as a ball player or rapper with a better percentage chance of success!
@@ybklyn87 anyone can look up to jay z, but that shouldn’t be the only example to look up to. Everyone has different lanes and roles, there’s all categories of greatness.

Right too much emphasis is on entertainment but not on people who know how to win with their money.
Another day, another clip of Van absolutely embarrassing Math 😂
Chill bro 🤣🤣🤣
A dude that got fired from a TV job. Okay your smart.

Yo math let the GUEST SPEAK Jezuz man I’m tryna listen to the GUEST SPEAK!
Maan!!!😂
He can’t. Van was disrespecting Math’s God(jay Z)
I wish Math would've let Van finish the story about his Grandfather. I would like to here how he got his wealth.
Math is totally wrong with his his take because the average person can’t be Jay-Z and that’s the honesty these kids need, instead of trying to be a rapper, athletes, or anything entertaining, they need work on having a trade or skill that’s needed

One of the best conversations this podcast ever had. Van was bringing wisdom, and cats better listen. Math wanted to bump heads and be right, instead of learning something.

You have a higher likelihood of being able to emulate and replicate the career of an advertising executive like Steve Stoute (the guy always next to Jay when he's courtside) then you do chasing the celebrity of Jay himself. Van is breaking down gem after gem here. S/o to Math for providing him with the proper platform to tell these truths.

Van Lathan 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾... God bless you for speaking the truth.
Van came with wisdom, common sense and a lesson. . Luv it👑
The algorithm brought me here because of Van.
Van Lathan is the truth and Math Hoffa making this boy look extra good w/ this type of mirror on him.
It's not about just stopping celebrity spotlighting, it is about diversifying the pool the spotlight reaches.

This is a great conversation that may be a little above the heads of entertainers. Most entertainers that we know of didn’t go to
College let alone some didn’t finish high school. You have more opportunity making it doing what Mr. Lathan is saying. I am glad the brothers finally got serious and let him talk which also requires skill and respect which don’t always see on platforms like this. So shoutout to Math Hoffa for always rising above. Peace Kings!
Ya think? A little above 😂😂 Math gotta change his name to subtract or some shit bcuz bro is a dumdum
calling this a conversation is a stretch. Hoffa cant sit and listen long enough to allow an actual conversation.
I love hearing young black men educating and defining subjects of substance. I love us. The conversation is beautiful.
This could have been amazing interview if someone had a conversation instead of trying to win an argument
In a good debate you MUST listen to understand the other person's point even though you don't agree. You can't listen just enough to try and counter what they are saying.

The realest episode I've seen so far on this podcast. Peace to Van Lathan.
Van is wise. He needs a bigger platform .
This is one hell of a conversation for us to have!!! I appreciate both of their opinions
Mecca looking like he'd rather be discussing hiphop
People forget Van is from the South so he’s knows more history from his heritage and not caught up in the entertainment world.
He’s also not physically weak either . Math was intimidated all away around.
Exactly! Math is non FBA and really doesn't understand the dynamics of this country and how it's ran $$$
Facts it’s way more people on the sideline you don’t know who they are or what they do, but they successful
And to be honest it’s easier to finish medical business and law school than be a famous rapper
Even adults forget that fame/entertainment is not the only way to get rich/successful.
No we shouldn't be encouraging young Black kids to be Jay-Z.
Foreal, white ppl aren’t telling their kids to look up to musicians and that’s not to hold jay to only being a musician.
