@@27metro34 I think if a team that has 2 solid Centers lands the first overall, then there may be a case for Martone going 1st. Or maybe even Schaefer! Can't wait to see how this season plays out!
I think Misa ends up being the perfect #2 center for a Stanley cup contender or #1 for 60% of the league. Kind of like Strome but with a higher ceiling and skill and I think he gets to his potential quicker.
hagens is a better skater, playmaker and defensive player so what makes you say misa goes 1st? Misa is for sure 2nd since he's levels above martone but he's only better at scoring and being bigger which might actually inflate his points since he's playing against junior players.
Once the season is done it will be too hard to ignore misa and martones numbers. Can’t wait for the Desnoyers and Carter Bear scouting reports. Love this channel
Yet another great one this vid, thanks 🙏 My take is it's still a bit early to tell Hagens is on a new team at a new level while most others are in the same team & league as they were the past 1, 2 or 3 seasons. He's on a line with 1st rounders from what seems to be a deeper draft class so it will be easy to track if things improve for him over the course of the season. Plus being older it's less likely he'll grow, which is a big knock on his chances to go 1st as of now but you can never know for sure until combine numbers are revealed, we've seen surprising late growth in some prospects in the past.
YUP! And like I said in the video....I think World Juniors are gonna play a role in how some of these prospects get ranked. Playing against their peers and dominating can help draft stock for sure!
@nhldraftpros oh yeah ! Sure this will be very interesting a gauge this year between these 4. Also, if you don't mind me asking I've noticed Nathan Behm seem to be rising quite a lot, having superb numbers on a fairly limited team, which off course would have to be confirmed over the course of the season, but it's quite the impressive start, almost to the level of a very top prospect even. Yet when asked about him very recently Scott Wheeler who is usually keener on WHL kids than most seem to still consider him a second rounder to date. I'm very cautious with his takes, don't value his analysis as high as I value some others like yours tbh but would you agree with him for now ? What would be the knocks ? Subpar skating maybe ? Physicality ? Compete ? Me wonders ...
@@lauig I think Behm is one of those players that will put up nice numbers but may drop in the draft....that being said I think he's a mid to late 1st rounder if he keeps up these stats. Some issues with skating yes and off puck play, but the potential is there. Does he maintain this pace is the question?
It just depends on who's picking first that will determine who's picked first, some teams need a forward others need a defensemen, pound for pound the best player is Schaefer, he's incredible
There's 3 boys I like and will have to wait until the season is almost over. Hagens, Martone and Misa are all in the same checkmark box for me right now. Hagens would definitely be my pick right now but Martone and Misa are right on his tail.
draftpros do you think you could do a video on caleb desnoyers? maybe some goalie videos? this year has the chance to be one of the best goalie classes in a while
Working on Desnoyers right now! Will be out this week or weekend. I may take a shot at goalies although not really my strong suit, but may give it a go!
WJC will have a huge impact in this draft. I still see Hagens going #1 especially if he has a good NCAA season and WJC. Misa would be my pick to surprise for #1 if Hagens isn’t selected.
As hockey fans what do we know? - NHL team really value ALOT those big body skillful forwards - In my humble opinion: Martone goes 1st overall. But Misa's skills are really underrated. love Hagens skillset , skating , hockey IQ and the way he passes to puck but only 1G in 9 games?.. I D K.
IMO Misa is the best pick but it depends what team is picking. If it is an American team I feel Hagens is picked but if a Canadian team then Misa is the guy.I personally thought Cellebrini was over rated a good player but not the superstar they were making him out to be.I actually thought Misa was pretty good 2 years ago and imo his game has not really got much better but he was already a good player so tough to improve. if it was up to me I am taking Misa but whatever different managers have different thoughts. My real choice is Gavin McKenna the next year he is the can't miss player.
you obviously haven't watched misa. his game from last season to this season is like night and day now being the guy with the nhl drafted guys gone. And his linemate epperson has 30 pts.
misa. over a gpg. on pace for around 70 g's and can break jt's exceptional record of 71. I told the haters misa would pick it up in his draft season and with all the nhl drafted guys gone.
Hagens shouldn't even be a Top 5 pick, imo. I can see him slipping in the draft big time. I've watched every minute of every game he's played for BC so far. Only having 11 points in 9 games while playing on a line with Ryan Leonard and Gabe Perrault is not good enough for a potential #1 overall pick. Comparatively, Maklin Celebrini had 18 points after 9 games with BU, and he did it with inferior linemates. Hagens is small and physically underdeveloped. He's listed at 5-10...but I think he was given an extra inch by whoever measured him. He just looks tiny out there. I would describe him as a poor man's Jack Hughes. Like Hughes, Hagens has elite vision and playmaking but without the skating burst. Hagens is a slick skater. Just not explosive. Even Logan Cooley looked more impressive with Minnesota his Freshman year. At any rate, I'm hoping Hagens can grow an inch or two by the draft. So far, he's struggling a bit against older, bigger, stronger college players. Secondly, the kid needs to shoot the puck more. A little more selfishness and killer instinct would do him some good. He's a 'pass first' type of player and forces things too much because of it. He has a nice shot. Use it more!
I like this take. Hagens reminds me of Jack Hughes lite. I think he ends up being a highly skilled top 6 center and I do think his skills are a step ahead and more polished everyone else (at this point) and it makes people forget how raw the rest of his game is.
Thanks for sharing! Yes to all above and lot of people saying Jack Hughes Lite which I agree with. Definitely needs to get bigger and some extra height would help!
We have been spoiled with the last two drafts...I wonder how the 2025 draft will turn out ??? IMO, Montreal will likely pick from 5th to 8th. The 5 first teams from the 2024 draft could possibly pick again in the same order or almost...time will tell !!!
I think he has the highest floor of the top players in the draft. I do question his ceiling myself. Not impressed with his physical skill set honestly.
Who do you think will get selected 1st overall at the 2025 NHL Draft? #nhldraft
Matthew Schaefer easy pick
@@KanadianGOOSE8 If he keeps up this pace...there's a good chance he takes the Top spot!

martone, schaefer, hagens, misa. that is eerily similar to the top 4 in 2022, it really can go any which way depending on the teams tho

1. Michael Misa
2. Porter Martone
3. James Hagens
4. Matthew Schaefer

#5 Roger McQueen
