      The only real option would be,if you really really want to foster,would be to homeschool.Kittens need around-the clock care and attention.

      I actually was a full time student and fostering. I never did bottle babies because obviously i couldnt take them to school with me but I had help from my parents and sister. I would encourage you to ask yourself if its realistic and if it is, do the older kitties, (5 wks +) Hope this helped and sorry that this comment is so late!

      Amanda Edwards it's actually not that hard I'm a full time student and I foster all ages even bottle babies as long as a parent can go and feed them during their lunch period it's fine it can be hard with very ill kittens but for the most part it doesn't interfere much

    how do you manage foster kittens who aren't yet litter-trained?

    • @lilychapman6138
      @lilychapman6138 5 лет назад +20

      I foster kittens so I have a lot of experience with this. First off it depends how young they are. Some of them actually need help going pee and poop so you have to take a tissue and rub in THAT area and they will pee. Once they get older you can place them in a litter box and take their foot and make them scratch the litter. it normally comes as an instinct that they need to pee in there. Make sure they can get to the litter box easily and make sure its small enough for them to step in it. The kitten lady has a video concerning this also!

      @lilychapman6138 5 лет назад +8

      Oh and you're gonna have to be prepared if one of them has an accident lol

    • @miamitchell5129
      @miamitchell5129 4 года назад +5

      Litter training is super easy and can be done in a couple of days if you see them going to the bathroom on the floor just simply move them to the litter pan and show them how to scratch the litter I got a foster kitten who was not yet litter trained and it happened over a couple day. It's happened to me a few times

    Thanks for the video!! I am fostering a single kitten right now who is sick with diarrhea and a respiratory infections, she is underweight as well. She just started eating better and is hopefully on the road the recovery!! It's a lot of work and responsibility, just keep that in mind! I have not wanted to keep them because it's nice to have a break from the work load for a few weeks and have perpetual kittens in your home!

  • @suntzu6122

    Can someone tell me how 'mean' it is to adopt part of a kitty family but not all of it. I feel like maybe this happens a lot but I feel bad U.U
    I should also get only 1 cat but (not so) secretly I want 90000 cats.

    • @lauriedell813
      @lauriedell813 4 года назад +2

      Sun Tzu I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily mean or bad to adopt part of a litter rather than the entire litter (or including the mom). Once kittens reach adoption age they don’t really need all of their siblings. Most of the time kittens are required or at least preferred to be adopted in bonded pairs (two kittens also ultimately are less work when it comes to playing with them because they have each other to play with and will wear each other out faster than one would just playing with its owner). If you’re looking to just adopt one cat I would recommend looking for a cat that came into a shelter alone or seems to be okay alone based on the description the shelter gives on personality and all that jazz. As for fostering, it is extremely important that a litter (especially when they’re only a couple weeks or less old) stay together and with their mother if it is possible. If you can’t foster more than one or two cats then it would be a good idea to check local shelters and humane society’s for kittens that came into the shelter solo or in a pair without mom. There are loner kittens quite often during kitten season but they’re not as common as entire litters being found.

    I am a foster parent in West Virginia and I can tell you from my experience that not all places pay for the supplies for the pets where I'm from you pay for the supplies the veterinary care and everything else that comes along with it. It is extremely expensive I recently Foster to kitten that got very sick and it cost me over $500 for Veterinary Care not to mention I had to pay for vaccinations litter food toys. It really matters where you go through and how much money the organization has. The place I went through didn't have the funds to help the reason they wanted Foster's is because they couldn't afford to do it all on their own. A lot of the places around here like that around to your fostering means that you pay for everything for the pet and take care of them until they find a new home plain and simple

    I feel bad for asking this but I have been wanting to foster for about over a year now but I haven’t gotten a chance to, but my question is do you get payed for fostering? I feel bad for asking! I’m pretty sure you don’t bc no ones ever talked about it. And just to make it clear I’m not thinking about doing it for the money, I love cats and it hurts me that animals have to be put down, and I have always had a 99% of my heart dedicated to loving animals! I’m just trying to find more specific info for fostering I guess so I can make sure for when I can foster I can do it right. And not have to ask dumb questions :3

    Great video! Although I do have one question. How old do you need to be to foster? I am 15 and have taken care of two litters (on my third litter right now). But none of them have been OFFICIALLY fostering. One litter was my cats (who died while her kittens were two weeks old). One litter was from a stray who had her kittens in my barn and eventually abandoned them there when they were about a week old. The litter of 5 that I’m taking care of right now was from my barn cat who abandoned them. I want to get into ACTUALLY fostering. But am I too young?

    • @hzhanzzhsnxn

      First, if you haven’t already, please spay your cat. It’s gonna stop her from breeding. Also, in the foster form, put down your parents names (with permission).

I actually got two kittens with names I said I'd never have a kitten named that and those were Charlie and Panda they had ringworm
