I would like to see a competition where all the vehicles have to drive 20ish kilometers from a rural location to a small town, pick up 50ish kilos of supplies or another person, and then return to the starting point. I think of it as a real world application.
Not sure I'd be terribly worried about speed. What I'd be most interested in is which machine can carry a predetermined load the furthest on a predetermined amount of fuel. Rough terrain would be a good one of course.

Very nice demonstrations! I need a couple of these to get my gear transported to remote hang gliding sites. Also great for collecting firewood and doing other chores.
There is a pretty cool 2x2 diesel bike made in the UK with 2 quad tyres. 97mpg and good in the summer as well
