Oh wow, nice. I also built a "spreadsheet-simulator" circa august 2023, but I stopped short of importing the game prices from my save game. Probably would have saved me a lot of effort, haha.

It took me SO LONG to figure out how to parse the stats.ini to extract the prices. The game saves the current prices after all the historical data, so it has to go find the right section first and then only start the search at that point. Also if your game has been running for more than about 20 years Excel can't load the current prices because the section is more than a million lines down the file and that's the row limit.

There is no reason to ever go for low-quality buildings, at least in realistic mode, as the quality of the house basically determines the upper happiness limit and thus also productivity inhabitants will have and this should always be as high as possible. IMO the flat bricks building for 110 workers is therefore the best bang for the buck until you researched better accommodation.

I wouldn't say there's no reason, but definitely I'd generally default to the 110 resident flats for a normal game.
In terms of efficiency through productivity, the cheap flats are definitely better if you only take building costs into account. I loaded up my save from the minimalism video and even though I was sitting at an average happiness of 48%, average productivity was still 60%. Given that the folks in the 110 flats would likely have around 80% productivity but you could only afford half the capacity, you'd get more "work" out of the crappy flats assuming you can fill them up.

Maybe do some vehicles next to see the price to speed to capacity ratios

Yeah potentially, although there are so many vehicles it would take forever. Maybe I could break it up a bit or something.
I do have a few in-game tests done, in progress, or planned to do with vehicles, so look out for the first of those in the next few days.
