The playing of the pianist deserved much more attention than it received from the cameras. Beautiful playing. Bad film direction.
The video is absolutely stupid. Soloists shown at the wrong time. Easy journey even more pleasant from one camera to another. The team has nothing to do with music.
I totally agree.
A superb rendition of one of the glories of chamber music. As a comment below suggests, a camera filming the piano could have shown more of Anastasia Injushina's contribution, which is no less accomplished than that of the justly renowned Borodin Quartet.
Here is when RUclips is actually useful for something. This live ensemble features accurately tuned instruments and a well tuned piano. Playing is never rushed, but avoids dragging tempos by full phrasing, full bowing and complete finger and keyboard control on the piano. The 1080HD recording is superb. A very balanced ensemble and a fine live performance of Brahms. Any Brahms collector needs to hear live performance's as well as favorite recordings.
I absolutely agree with Mr Gallagher about the film direction: And better miking could also have brought the piano more to the fore. The Borodin is a magnificent quartet, but
Miss Injushina is a pianist who deserves to be heard.
I dreamed of hearing chamber music played here when I went to Helsinki. A very good live performance of this quintessentially Brahmsian piece.
A beautiful performance.
Very good performance but very bad video.
Beautifully done
This quintet is absolutely noticeable. The themes are well marked and developed withthe utmost science and interest. Of course, it owes much to Schumann's quintet. The Russian interprets - Anastasia Injushina and the Borodin Quartet are at the top level.
There should have been a camera filming the piano.
Was the concert held at the rockchurch in Helsinki?
