  • toxicity in games - whether an FPS like valorant, csgo, overwatch, or a MOBA like league of legends, or as asymmetrical horror game like DBD - is something we all experience. it can vary in frequency, target and even intensity. toxic behavior can range from just trash talking you over how bad you are playing to serious harassment. it's important to recognize when you encounter it and how it affects your gaming experience. along with the ways in which you can conquer it and take care of yourself as it is truly an art in dealing with it.
we need to do better by our communities in the games we play and since toxicity in such a prevalent issue in so many spaces, it really needs to be properly addressed.

Really good video even though I do think it is crazy that a video like this even needs to exist because people who get annoyed or frustrated by toxic people in games haven't found the mute button yet, especially when it comes from people with no life outside of valorant solo queueing while shouting obscenities over game chat and thinking that's the secret to being funny. Honestly almost makes me disappointed in how trash talk has fallen because some of the older clips of toxic people during the Xbox 360 are really funny and feeds into the beauty of not just gaming but the internet as a whole where people from all walks of life can come together to not only love each other equally but also equally rip each other to shreds with their words and at the end of the day that stuff (if you acknowledge what is happening and why) is just funny to watch unfold, and from my experience it's ever funnier when it's directed at me

i do appreciate that! and, yeah, for sure, muting is the easiest way to deal with it, and i definitely see your viewpoint. all i hope for is a positive gaming space at the end of the day, to where muting and reporting isn't needed as frequently as it is nowadays. and unfortunately, for some people in certain games (like women), a LARGE percent of their games is just rancid remarks and "jokes," and then there comes a point where they can't even enjoy the game, yk? but, i really do wish toxicity nowadays was more milder like in previous years

Yeah I totally agree with that sentiment where people can not deal with that if they want and those who are okay with it can opt in, and I think this was actually solved back in Halo Reach (I think I could be wrong) where there was a system where you could choose one of a couple preferred chat styles and you would be matched with people of same or similar preferences so that what you said wouldn’t matter for the most part because it would be met with an accepting audience and that is something I think the Valorant community desperately needs.

games that try so hard to make a community less toxic often end up with the most toxic communitys by frustrating players with all the censorship there is resulting in them to be passive aggressive or just start grefing games

i do agree with that; tell someone NOT to do something and they do it more, and putting all that restriction can hinder the enjoyment. that's why at the end of the day, it's really up to the community. the more people do better, speak up and be good role models = the better community will be and the more fun everyone can have!

I am bronze tank but my siblings are both silver and gold respectively I get "TANK DIFF!?" all over the place on quick play and my siblings always stick up for me telling them to shut up this is quick play if not for them I would probably have a mental breakdown my brain is already in shambles

you def can, but after a while, it becomes boring since toxicity is so prominent and it never fixes the root issue. best solution is for all of us to promote more positive behavior at the end of the day so that there wouldn't be a need to mute as much!

dead by daylight is literally made to piss people off ranking system does not excist that means no matter how good you are you are going to get matched with casuals that dont care and die 2 seconds in a chase or not repair gens i dont get why they dont wanna win like does they like dying? personally i dont mind losing but if i lose and its not my fault and this happens constantly i might ofc get frustrated like i really hate the dbd community i might be gaslit into thinking only 5% of survivors are good at this game judging by my 1200 hours of survivor but when i play killer they prove me wrong like idk what to do at this point i still take protection hits for randoms and carry them but they still going to leave me on hook if i get cought at endgame

TLDR: take a break from the game, build new excitement, (re)learn killer, don't put so much importance on the game
i understand where you're coming from, but you basically answered your own frustrations. dbd has no 'unranked' gamemode, so it's a hit or miss whether you get other survivors who actually care about their rank or don't. and, you don't need to let that make you upset because you already understand how the game functions, you know? you have so much hours, you definitely have a passion for the game itself, and as a player, you know exactly what's up. if playing survivor upsets you, you should transition to playing killer more. leave the game alone for a bit, start from scratch, build a new excitement for the game, re-learn killer. over time, you'll be able to play killer effectively to a point where nobody can really juke you out, and then you also don't have to worry about other teammates messing up. and as a survivor main (which i'm assuming you are), you should already know how a survivor thinks, making you a better killer. but, overall, you gotta change the way you view the game. even though it is essentially always "ranked," you know that many of the people you play with/against don't view it as important as you and a lot of others do. and until an "unranked" gamemode is released, you can't put so much importance on the game because you never know what you'll be dealing with. games are meant to be fun, not constant torture, and if the game is upsetting you a lot, prioritize your mental health, okay?

@@naveensjournal but i like running away from killers while anxiously loud chase music plays :( more and on gmod the killers are there but they are just faster and i cant find a way to add pallets so i can face the killer i like instead of facing them once per year, i understand that this game is full of casuals but when things happen always over and over and the frustration of seeing the survivors i could get matched with when i play killer just ruins everything smh i mean if i turn into a killer main 95% of my problems go away with the game but i just like running away from them more cuhs its harder
