13 doesn't need a special reason why she cares so much about a boy she just met, she's just a teenage girl who has so much energy and needs to just blow it off at the right person and at the right time....:):)
I also think the same, why 13 is willing to risk his life just for the sake of a small child he has only met for 2 days. Maybe there is another reason in the next movie. but overall I really like this movie!
This movie is on the same lvl like Tyler Rake or John Wick movies, but just more brutal and with more violence. It has some of the best action scenes you will see this year, just alone the opening fight scene vs Yakuza ( gives you hella Mortal Kombat vibes ) is one of the sickest fight scenes Ive seen since The Raid. This movie comes from the same director who made The Night Comes For Us. Too bad not many ppl know about this movie.
As Marvel is still searching for a director of the Blade reboot, can they get Timo Tjahjanto, the director of The Shadows Strays and The Night Comes For Us? I mean, it fits him very well and who knows if he's interested. A few weeks ago, he tweeted a pic of Wesley Snipes' Blade so who knows he might be interested for the job 😊
Hey Austin, i'm from Indonesia and have been a huge fan of yours for years. Whether we agree or disagree, i'm still interested to see your take especially for this movie that has been under the radar for so many people including the movie critic space on youtube, i'd love to give you an insight on who Aurora Ribero is. She's a young actress who is mostly known for comedy and drama movies (frankly, those two genres including horror are the most popular in Indonesia, we're still lacking in action because we don't have that much of a director who can make as competent as Timo Tjahjanto, there's a thing called horror fatigue here 😅). The reason why Timo cast her is after she saw her in the Indonesian drama, "Like & Share", as the acclaim director said in a press conference a few days ago that I attend and it was so much fun "When it comes to action, anybody who has the will and spirit to train can eventually execute it but you don’t see this humanity in every performer, Aurora has a certain innocence in her eyes that’s one in a million" It's her innocence eyes that convince Timo to cast her. She also trained for 4 months ahead of filming for her action choreography. So yeah, happy for Timo, happy for Aurora, congratulations to everyone who worked on The Shadows Strays. I hope the Indonesian film industry could be recognised more for their amazing stuff. Timo is batshit crazy and i just adore him for that, no one in Indonesia does a huge risk like he does. Timo does has had script problems lately but as for the action stuff, he does not hold back at all, blood and violence is his toys really 😅 And it's a cool coincidence that Aurora started her film debut at 13 years old and here she is playing a character named "13" 😂 Also, i don't know if you know this Austin, but i highly recommend the Indonesian action comedy "The Big 4" also on Netflix, also directed by the guy who made this movie, i really hope you liked it if you get around to watch it someday
I think it would be much more sense if they kinda show us that 13 and monji has more connection way back even before the event happend. I mean shes an assassin. I know they alrady show us since the beginning that she care about something or someone else who has nothing to do with their mission. Like with the geisha girl. But still as an assassin u cant just going on rampage for someone she barely knows. Maybe if they could just lil bit a reason why monji deserve that much effort from her to rescue him. Maybe monji help her in minor stuff or else. Just my opinion
It really kept me on for more than two hours ..very nice fighting scenes I loved the in between scenes emotional moments Only I didn’t like that the boy eventually died because I felt that the story doesn’t have a meaning anymore Instead she kept fighting even when the boy died and it was like she didn’t even care about him dying I think this evolution was something I didn’t like and also the fact that president and his son are just getting killed like they are normal thieves is something that really lowers the quality of the story In general I would certainly watch it again for sure
Every time Timo Tjahjanto makes an insane action movie, I'm there to see it even if it's just for Netflix. As an Indonesian myself, I couldn't have been more proud of him. He is one of the best Indonesian filmmakers currently working today. There's a reason why Hollywood recruited him to direct the Nobody sequel. Yes, you heard me, remember that Bob Odenkirk action movie? The guy who directed The Shadows Strays and The Night Comes For Us is directing the sequel, they just wrapped filming a few weeks ago and it's slated for an August 2025 release date, so excited! 🙌
Timo and Joko Anwar are criminally underrated in the West. Timo has so much skill in both action and horror. You are spot on at him needing something like BLADE where he can flex both his action direction and horror themes. He would also do great at something like Predator, Spawn, or Van Helsing.
I watched this dubbed and the dialogue is terrible. This feels like a copy from man from nowhere. Watch it subbed or scratch your ears out from the bad dialogue.
Try to change your mindsets. English is not the whole world. Nothing is permanent; we are all equally humans, but only language barriers don't mean priority is only English in the world; there are lots of millions of languages you should explore more; otherwise, you are going to live whole pot in your English life.

Timo wants to direct Blade for Marvel. He definitely can do both action and horror well.
maybe he could direct league of extraordinary gentlemen 2 and retire soon after
The fact he already made those two genre is making it more perfect

Ikr. Since the night comes for us. Especially with character like the operator. I can see she could be a black widow agent in asia

That poster is 10/10
Netflix just shadow (pun intended) dropped this film
No need gg=ood story just good action....:) its like mortal combat game version
Austin, your score for The Penguim Is very low, It’s The best show of the year!
Low? What?! Haha
It has one of my highest scores of the year!
Have you ever seen Ong Bak or The Protector? I'm telling you, they're phenomenal.
Over proud movie or over adrenalin movie ?
God bless!
I'm just gonna leave this here. If you have seen the anime, Eminence Of Shadows, you can't take this movie seriously😅
Awesome movie, one of the best action movies this year
Tbh... the story is meh but the action is truly a top notch

In english?
@austin burke...i like yours eye....diamond
Best movie 🍿
A 17 years old girl-assasin, you say ??? What's next, a newborn assasin ? A legless assasin ? Enough of this nonsense.
A paraplegic assassin movie coming in 2025 😂
Hope this is satire lol
Its a movie, not real life. Go fight someone at the bar if you want a real fight
@@FallenKnight2244 he didn't wanna say he was actually upset about the female aspect of her
That's why we call it "movie", not "reality".
So hard for me to watch a movie not in English… i literally get bored so quick when i have to read the whole time
It’s dubbed
Lack of practice, bro. The awesome thing is there are such great stories you can discover when you step out of the Hollywood bubble.

stop it, y'all. i prefer it when people choose to be worse
Yeah that's your problem for not knowing that English language movies isnt the center of the world. I actually learned english by watching movies 🤷
