I haven't seen a Steelers' podcast yet that breaks down both Wilson's and Field's last two years of QB tape. That would clearly show why both were discarded and available at such a low value. That, to me, isn't being completely transparent for the shake of selling either hope for cash or to sow emotional division for profit.

This time the Bears are bringing in Caleb behind a good young O-line and have shit tons of weapons at his disposal.
The point is, Fields never got a fair shake to improve because he had nothing to work with. And let’s not forget, he never had consistency from a coaching standpoint which only made the impossible even more impossible.

Who is more likely to improve, Fields or Russ? My money is on Russ! He was already a proven elite QB who just wound up in a lousy situation that made him look bad. He developed some bad habits but he’s a very cerebral player.
Fields hasn’t learned or improved on much over the past three years.
Fields is competing with Russ. Russ is competing with himself (or Mahomes and Rodgers!).
Fields is playing for a starting spot and a bag. Russ is playing for his legacy!
Justin is QB2, and it’s going to stay that way.
Fields’s mindset is exciting but it won’t make him a starter if Russ is just better, which he still is. Fields had requested Pittsburgh when Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph were the QBs.
He wasn’t planning on completing with Russ, and frankly he’s nowhere near Russ’s level as a passer, nor does he play as well in the clutch. The Bears sent him to Pittsburgh after Russ signed because they knew he would wind up on the bench, which is where they want and need him as Caleb goes through his growing pains.
It’s crazy that people don’t understand why the Steelers became such an attractive option only AFTER Russ signed. They weren’t even looking in the Steelers’ direction. After Russ signed they not only sent Fields there but lowered their asking price significantly, essentially paying the Steelers to take Fields off their hands. They did that because they wanted him on another team’s bench, not starting as a franchise QB in his first year away from the Bears.
The idea of Fields displacing Russ is ridiculous when you examine the numbers.

Wilson will have 26-10 and it will look good, but the offense will struggle to move the ball just like every team he's played for. He'll make a few big plays like he has his whole career because he holds the ball all day looking for it. Russ would be a good backup now. He won't kill you if he had to play. Fields is an awful QB….he’s fun and super athletic but actively stinks when it comes to playing the position. Russ is small and limited at this stage but can execute basic offense and represents a major upgrade over recent Steelers QBs. Neither player is the answer long term and neither is perfect in the short term. Pick your poison. Most fans will favor Fields because of athletic ability and delusion about what he can become. Personally I’d go Fields as well provided Smith designs an offense around his skills and limitations. It’s going to be about running the ball anyway.

Fields 53, trailing with less than 4 mins to go in the 4th Wilson 92 Fields 22. When the game is on the line and you can't run in the 4th, Fields takes sacks and can't pass. Leading 4 mins to go. Wilson passer rating of 104. Fields 58. When Fields has the lead in the 4th he can't pass, and can't lead a comeback when behind. Hence the 10 wins in 3 years. And you want Fields? 🤣🤣

He also went to the worst franchise in NFL history for a QB.

I have a CHANCE to beat Mike Tyson, Tyson Fury, and every other great boxer out there. I have a CHANCE to win the lottery. I have a CHANCE to become president.
Fields has about as much chance of becoming the franchise QB over Russ as I do of doing any one of those things. Russ is a superior QB. You need to treat Russ like the 2017-2020 Seattle Russ, because that’s who is in the Steelers camp right now. There’s no way Fields is beating out Russ, and that’s okay. He’s young.

Both QBs are complete trash! Both of them lead to failure, its pick your poison. It's a failure for the steelers. They will be a 7 to 8 win team and pick around 15 plus in the draft and miss out on a top 3 QB pick. It's gonna set the franchise back another 5 years at minimum. It also leads to the end of Tomlin.

Did you lose common sense when you took your hat off? Justin Fields sucks and Russel Wilson is washed up. Seattle punked Denver, HARD. Seattle wasn't in ANY mood to keep Wilson for the reason we're ALL seeing now. Fields had three years, THREE years of chances, excuses, media hype, blame games and lies, none of which would have been given if he was some white guy. Now the news is coming out about the 'behind the scenes' behavior that help Fields convince the Bears to dump him.
Do a side by side comparison of Mitch Trubisky and Justin Fields career stats and recall how mean everyone was to Trubisky, if you can't see it after that, no one can help you.
