The spare set had Amtrak Pacific Surfliner SC-44 CDTX 2115 up front, 5 Comet coaches CDTX 5014 The Owl, CDTX 5001 The Comet, CDTX 5010 The Golden State, CDTX 5012 The Feather River Express, CDTX 5007 The Del Monte, and retro CalTrain/CalTrans livery NPCU Cabbage AMTK 90225, The Sacramento.
The morning and afternoon bit of the afternoon before this, Jon waited for them at Los Nietos...but they never went by.
It turns out they will only use them as needed for weekends (such as equipment breakdowns on weekends).
Amtrak Pacific Surfliner seems to have just enough bi-level sets to use for weekends in revenue service(often a spare for weekdays).
